On our little day trip to Port Gamble, I had encountered many places that I was just too scared to…read morego into. I admit, I'm not use to that kind of town (as pretty as it may be). Of Sea & Shore was located in the general store that they have there. The actual store was packed but we were the only two who checked out the museum at the time. Needless to say, it was pretty interesting! Probably one of the highlights of the trip. They have a nice collection of a large variety of sea animals (which I have an interest in. They just look so much like aliens!) And they give you the explanation of most of the creatures there, so you'll definitely learn something! I really suggest anyone who goes over to Port Gamble to check this museum out. Especially anyone with children! It's a great experience and who can argue with the price being free?!

I was in! Upon arriving, seeing the beautiful old houses, a cute authentic general store, and amazing views of the sound, I couldn't wait to explore it further. Plenty of parking, I headed down to check out the beach, on the way seeing that during the summer season, there are kayak rentals (another reason to return) what made the beach interesting, besides a ton of seashells, was that it was adjacent to where the town in the old days had their dump and landfill, so over time, the old glass was finding its way onto the beach, Cool stuff! A little bit like the glass beach near Fort Bragg, Cali. Definitely enjoyed walking through the town, appreciating the buildings and houses and history. They have guest houses for rent, there was a wedding going on, so that's another venue available, lots of gift and art shops and a cute Tap House I'll review as well. It's also quite peaceful and just a great place to chill out. The beach is pebbly but it's still beautiful. In fact it may be even more beautiful because it is pebbly. I don't know if it's still there but there was a structure made out of wood probably a few beach combers made and it was cool to take a peek inside there too. Anyway I love Puget Sound and have seen it from all kinds of different angles but I think this spot is one of my favorites if not my favorite at the top of the list. The lighthouse is cute, a nice white painted building with red roof. Not terribly tall or towery like some lighthouses but beautifully maintained regardless. Definitely a stop to make if you enjoy lighthouses and absorbing the water and nature of Puget Sound.

My husband and I both gasped when we passed the museum, in a "did you just see what I saw," kind of way. We absolutely love the weird and whimsical finds we discover on road-trips. Unfortunately, the museum wasn't open, so my review is simply based on the roadside attraction appeal in terms of selfie-spots. The exterior of this museum does not disappoint! Visitors will find statues of Sasquatch and all sorts of Bigfoot-related ephemera. I very much hope to check out the interior of the museum on my next pass through town, upon which I'll update this review and provide details about their hours of operation. My daughter is a gentle sensitive soul, who is a rule follower. We don't need volunteers hovering over us. We couldn't even stay in the touch tank room because they kept saying hurtful things. The staff/volunteers need training in child development. They kept stating rules to us, assuming that she was going to do wrong and make the wrong choices. We were simply there trying to explore and enjoy our time as a family on spring break. The volunteers ruined our visit. We would never go back!
