It just wasn't what I was looking for. One day, one of these jazz dancers teaching the hip hop class told me about VYB and Demario Henry. Once I took my first class at VYB, I was disappointed in myself for not finding this place sooner! VYB is THE PLACE for adult dance classes in Tampa. They offer a variety of dance styles for beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers with, in my opinion, some of the best dance teachers in the state of Florida. We can't wait until our wedding in 2 weeks so we can get back to dancing salsa and learning from Julia! I personally have been ballroom dancing on and off since 2005, so I have seen Julia in a variety of different settings and used to go to her Friday dance parties quite often. It's so good to go to them because there are people of many ages and levels, so you always learn something new just from coming out to socialize and DANCE! I will go as far and say that the Friday classes are just as important if not more so than any group dance class you take with her. It's like learning a language and then going into the real world to put it to practice. We just knocked off one star because the back room used for some of the beginner's classes lacks good ventilation and one time we went for a class it smelled very strongly like smoke. Seems like someone was naughty! But we have each had enjoyable experiences with Julia, so that's why we would go back in a heartbeat.

We called Ivan to see if we could continue lessons via Zoom. With Bryan's guidance, we've been able to remember a lot and felt comfortable enough to dance at a friends' dinner party. Zoom for dance lessons is not the best set-up plus our room isn't big enough, but Bryan has worked with us. This experience has reminded us what a great place Dance Passion is

When he didn't show up on stage (due to their neglect at communicating), not an eye was batted. He didn't have anyone come to ensure he was safe. He was left in a room with a volunteer, presumably another parent at the school. Just because you have another parent volunteering does not mean they are a safe person. When someone is missing from a place they are supposed to be, the person in charge should feel quite compelled to locate the missing person. Original review: My son worked for 6 months on a dance he will not be performing tomorrow after severe neglect from the school to have tabs on their dancers. He was the only boy in the number, and one of a handful of boys at the school. He was only performing in ONE dance. No one thought to stop and find him for rehearsal when he was missing. He sat in a dressing room for 3.5 hours for literally nothing. They never called his name to come to the stage. When I confronted (admittedly, very heated after hearing of this) the woman in charge, she offered to have him practice then. At 8:30 at night. After my son had already sat for 3.5 hours waiting for them to call him up. After they were already 30 minutes behind schedule. Picture day was just as much of a mess. This is not his first rodeo with a dance company (he is last one stopped dance programs or we would have gladly stayed with them), and it isn't mine either- after having taken classes and performing for 15 years, myself. I would drive to Tampa over going to this dance school again. You would think if this is something you do over and over again, you would have it down by now. Not happy that they robbed my son of this experience, and have set him up for complete failure.

This studio focuses on learning things the right way the first time no matter their level of dance and always stressing on their technique. Being a former athlete myself, I'm very impressed with the solid core fundamentals and foundations of dance taught by Kelley. I also like that the classes are limited in size. There is also a variety of programs available to all dancers. My daughter is now part of their competition team and I like that Dance Central offers classes all year round so that she can continue the momentum in her dance education. It's been a great experience for my daughter.

The art on the walls is pleasing to look at, they offer it at little to no cost to different types of artists, and that's fantastic. I think every community needs this kind of space. There were 2 major detractors to the space though: Parking. If you park next to the building You WILL BE TOWED. They do not own the space. So parking is either confusing or on the street -especially if you're not from the area. And Risers are needed. I was in the 2nd to the back row. I'm nearly 6' tall, but I still had to bob and weave to watch the people on the "stage" and by stage I mean the floor. So either make a stage or give risers to your people in chairs.

We danced this past season at District West Coast Swing with Hugo "level 3". At this point Hugo decided to add "level 4" by INVITE ONLY. My wife and I were forced to go to "level 3" if we wanted to dance in the class. He didn't Invite us, as he didn't even know our names. Level 3 was way below our skill. The class consisted of 2 instructors, 1 man who was not qualified to dance, another woman who smelled like alcohol and another woman who was quite good. That is hardly a good time. No interaction with the "friends" we have at "level 4" which had around 50 people and our class had 6 people. If you are visiting, I wouldn't bother. Yes, if you dance with the "key players" and meet people, it could be fun. We have decided to go to the other West Coast Swing group at Bayou with Danielle.

Information is given to us in a timely manner, recitals are organized and summer camps are fun. The teachers were excellent for my daughter with some of the same still teaching here. They youth assistants are talented and congenial with the children. They have a talented dance team but we just wanted our kids to ENJOY dance, not go to the olympics. They were not pressured to compete and this was very important to us. It's okay to dance for fun and exercise. We're very happy at Jeanne Lynne. Can't recommend it enough, especially with the grace with which they have handled the pandemic.

JLDS is IMO the best studio in St Pete! I started taking ballet lessons when I was 5. Every year the studio puts on a recital to showcase everyone's hard work. Watching the recital, I fell in love with clogging. My second year I enrolled in clogging. From beginner, I worked my way up to join the Southern Exposure clogging team and traveled the southern states competing with this team. We even got to travel to Missouri one summer to perform in shows for two weeks at Silver Dollar City, their theme park. Besides clogging and ballet. I also enrolled in tap, jazz, lyrical, African, and hip-hop (my second favorite after clogging). What started off as something my mom put me in as a fun hobby ended in the best time of my life with friends I will have forever. (I'm almost 40 and stopped dancing when I moved out at 22 and I still see some of these girls!) If competition isn't your cup of tea they have normal classes too. Well, I've been a devoted member for several years now, and as the sayin' goes "all good things…read moremust come to an end!" To be honest, I've purposely kept coming here because of the staff (Doug, Shane, and Zach) that really do the best they can and take pride in their work and it shows. It's clear now that the primary owners don't care about keeping this place in great shape. They don't care about upgrading the WiFi, or replacing one of the big fans (especially when it's the first one that you see when you walk into the place), or replacing old and outdated equipment, or old and outdated carpeting, or toilets that barely flush. Sadly, when the fan does stop working it gives you the chance to see how much caked-on dust has accumulated on it. (This has since been corrected as a result of a survey that I filled out that "got noticed.") With the recent opening of other gyms in the immediate area, it's time to take my business elsewhere.. If this place ever changes ownership and gets a much-needed refresh then I'll certainly come back to give it another try. Until then, I went ahead and canceled my membership at this place.
