Italian festivals are a great way to enjoy real Italian culture. They usually honor the history,…read moreculture, or the patron saint. Basically, these celebrations can last from one day to several days and involve a great deal of related events, usually including religious processions, music, fireworks, artisan markets, and lots of local food. Located on Spring Street in Lodi, my partner and I came on the last day after several years absent to the annual festival held during Labor Day Weekend celebrating St. Joseph as a model of labor. Food is at the heart of any Italian feast, with vendors serving a mix of traditional Italian-American fare and regional specialties. A classic menu would be sausage and pepper sandwiches, zeppoles (fried dough), arancini (fried rice balls), pizza, pasta dishes, and cannolis. The air is often filled with music from Italian-American performers, folk groups, and tribute bands. There were carnival rides and games for family entertainment. All the boxes were checked, and we had a great time.

Hello Church Family!…read more My husband and I visited this church while visiting our friend who attends this church. The sermon by Pastor Jay is so solid. I really felt nourished by both the Word delivered and the music played by one man on a guitar. It was all so wonderful and homey. The congregation is small and so so genuine. They have lunch provided by a member of the congregation directly after service followed by a wonderful bible study around 1pm. The service is at 10:30am. I highly recommend this church! We will certainly be back when we visit our friend! They were so so welcoming and sweet.

The sermons are not your typical topical sermons. They are gospel-focused, teaching through the whole Bible and not skipping around random verses every week. The children's pastor is also so great with the kids; feels like a real family. My kids love going to church every Sunday. I attended a large mega-church for 9 years, but have definitely grown more spiritually at this smaller church. If you are looking for a church where you can really grow spiritually, and be part of a church family and not be ignored, this is the church for you!

The tabernacle is adorned in brass and sits to the right of the altar. The devotion candles are now electric but there was a time when they used actual candles here. That's my only gripe about this church. It would definitely create more of a nostalgic feel if real candles were used. The vestibule of the church is large enough to accommodate over 100 people. The vestibule is where people who arrive late to mass--congregate. The wooden pews remain but they are beginning to wear down. The pews are as old as the church itself. This is one of the largest churches in all of Bergen county. Its also a popular venue for wedding ceremonies. Parking is not an issue. Peace be with you...
