It was crispy, flavorful, and had just the right kick. The rice and beans were comforting and well/seasoned and the plantains were sweet and caramelized to perfection. I'm also Cuban for what it's worth and had my fair share of rice, beans, and plantains! The tres leche coffee was a little sweet for me but still fantastic. I typically drink black coffee and just felt like trying something different. The inside is super cozy! Makes you feel like you're in someone's home (in the best way). Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. Nothing has survived long in this building...hoping this one stays!

On the edge of the Greensboro and Summerfield border, near the PTI airport, lies a small restaurant with big flavor and big heart. This location has been many things in the past, but I am hopeful that Empanada Grill will last forever. The menu is very simple , but nobody needs to make complicated empanadas. I would rather a place do a few things well than have a wide variety of things and be mediocre. Empanada Grill is as far from mediocre as you can get. I opted for their empanadas undressed in the traditional chicken style. It came with a side of rice and beans. You got to choose between red or black beans, and white, yellow, or traditional rice. I went with the black beans and traditional rice. This was enough food for two meals. I received my food to go, as I had a practice to get to, but there is a variety of seating areas within to accommodate groups of all sizes. The black beans deserve a picture of their own because they are basically a full meal themselves. I ate half before I remembered to take a picture because they were so good. I would definitely bring the family back to this restaurant, as we all love empanadas. I would love to try the traditional beef next time. The worst part about this trip? My car smelled like empanada the next day and I had no more empanada to eat. But that's a problem that can easily be solved with a trip back to my new favorite empanada place.

Food was served with a smile which wasn't easy w the customers waiting for their order and 90 degree weather. I ate egg rolls and also Pancit served w a tender chicken on a stick. I liked it the best, they dished out a good sized portion of food. Very filling. Thank you Erik for this fun event and accolades to High Point for organizing the food truck rodeo. It was fun.

I was excited to attend because it gave me the opportunity to try new foods. I invited my daughter to share in the experience with me and we both had a great time. Upon arrival we checked in and walked around to see all the event had to offer. Then we made our decision on what 3 things we were going to try. First, we tried Kreyol Flavors and their oxtails empanadas. It was so good we went back and purchased another one. Then I tried The Tasty Turkey-Que. Their sample plate was a sample of turkey bbq with their signature sauce and cole slaw on the side along with a spring roll. It was all really good. I have always wanted to try Indian food and their butter chicken so I was excited for this opportunity. The butter chicken was good, I really enjoyed the basmati rice. I had never had it before but the samosa was spicy so I didn't eat it after the first bite. We also had Boba drinks and they were really refreshing. I really enjoyed the set up and all the different food trucks options. I hope this event is yearly because I would definitely come back.

They have a small menu with things like green papaya salad, pad thai, shrimp stir fry, fried rice, wings, pork belly, cashew chicken and I think a noodle soup was on there as well. Most prices are $10-13 for the full meal. I got just the papaya salad with no rice or meat that normally comes with it since I wasn't really hungry, I just wanted it because I hadn't eaten it since this lockdown shit started, so they only charged me $5 which I thought was a good deal. It came with papaya, cherry tomato, tomato slices, cabbage chunks, and a wedge of lime. It was made fresh and pounded using the traditional mortar and pestle which is always cool to watch for me. I asked for Thai hot with fresh chiles and they didn't skimp, it was seriously spicy. It was much closer to the Laotian version, as it had a much stronger fish taste like padaek vs the lighter Thai/Vietnamese fish sauce, so if you don't like a heavy fish flavor this version isn't for you.
