It's private, you get the entire spa to yourself! Then I met Kay Dar while there who is awesome and offers Ozone Sauna treatments and hyperbaric chamber, amongst other things! The Ozone Sauna has been a life changer for me.. I always leave feeling AMAZING. I experience a profound increase in my energy level, mental clarity and overall sense of well being every time I do the ozone sauna.. I highly recommend you check it out, it's great for healing just about everything it seems! And then I for colonics with Shelley, wow wow wow! She is the most lovely angel who offers colonics that go above and beyond any colonic I've had before.. I did a series of 3 in one week and left feeling sooo light, clear and transformed. And she's such a joy to connect with, she has a lot of love and care to share and it shows. I always feel so good leaving Temple of peace, their offerings are incredible and the practitioners and owners have such great energy. Came here for Mother's Day service and was greeted at the door with a flower and a program (and a hug and kiss) from one of the darling members. Very welcoming! Interior of church is absolutely gorgeous ... sweeping ceilings and wood everywhere. Bible-based church with a great choir group! Lovely singing! Beautiful piano playing. Service was pretty traditional - reminded me of the Methodist Church I attended (growing up in Norwich, NY) with several old hymns sung, lots of personal interaction with congregation (many members made announcements & had prayer requests) - and a nice sermon. About 50 attendees today (church could probably hold at least 150+) - primarily locals. Nice wood pews, beautiful old world chandelier, amazing organ and gorgeous stained glass windows. One with my favorite images of Jesus as the Shepherd. Would definitely come back next year when we visit Hawaii again. Great experience!

We were lucky enough to go on a day that they had a guest band from Nashville called The Katinas. They were absolutely AMAZING and set the tone for the sermon. They have an area for main service as well as rooms for children's ministry. I loved seeing that the congregation hangs out and gathers after service in their courtyard. Bring your uke or just attend and enjoy. The night we went they passed out song books to everyone who came in. There was a large group of hula dancers that performed forest of the songs. Second, we…read morewere impressed that the church is so representative of Maui cultures- Hawaiian, Asian Pacific, locals, as well as mainland transplants like us. It is the first truly multicultural church we've been part of. From our first visit through today, the the word that comes to mind when I think of Paipala is "cozy". Another couple of words might be 'growing', 'accepting', and/or 'stable'. Later we discovered the church was originally re-launched in January 2022, with the assistance of Kihei Hope Chapel. In Fall 2022 Paipala Church became its own non-denominational Bible community church. Jan Apo is the lead teaching pastor. He has roots to the early years of God moving on the islands. He's also well known on Maui and is a welcome teacher at island churches of many traditions. I'd categorize this as a "ground-floor" church. As of today, it doesn't have all the options of a large church, but as it is growing, I see more development coming. There is a strong commitment to missions. YWAM Maui has contributed part of their DTS teams to serve the church. You'll probably also meet overseas ministry folk that call Paipala church home while they take a break or retire. I love that! I was raised attending Good Shepherd Church in Wailuku and Holy Innocents in Lahaina( now gone due to the August 2023 fires :0( ) Please join us if you are on island or visiting. I think you will find it comforting and a safe place to pray to our Lord Jesus Christ. All the people who volunteer their time whether it's singing , preaching Scripture or helping with functions or feeding the needy. Dang, am I about to get a first review in Maui?!…read more This church is in the absolute middle of nowhere. Well, as much as you can be in Maui. It's far from everything, but especially far from the main population centers on the island. If you want to hike to the summit of Haleakala from the sea...this is the most logical place to start, that's what brought me here. You have to hike a short distance (0.3 mile) down a "4X4" road (it's not really...any car could do this, but you really shouldn't) to access the site. There are great views of the ocean and an insanely well-manicured lawn as well as some "ruins" of...something. This church also provides restrooms and showers but...none of the water was working when I was here. My timid Uber driver refused to drop me off at the gate to the 4X4 road, adding another 2 miles to my already long hike to the summit. It was a hot day, and I was pretty parched by the time I got to the church. I was looking forward to cooling off with the shower but...there was no running water when I was here and the bathrooms were locked. I'd suggest you don't count on them either. This place is easy to miss if you aren't paying attention. And most tourists won't drive this section of road (they'll turn around at Hana, or at the The Pools at 'Ohe'o). This section of road has a nasty reputation but it is really not that bad now. High clearance isn't necessary, let alone 4WD. The road gets a bad reputation from people that haven't driven in it the last 5 years. It reminds me of the road to McCarthy up here in Alaska, so much negative hype then you drive it and think "When is the hard part?" and before you know it, it's over. But I digress. If you're driving through, this is a place to get out, stretch your legs, and take in the views.
