My first visit to St Elizabeth Church was to attend a family baptismal. The church is on a popular…read moreroad in a beautiful neighborhood of the Town of Huntington. The Cathedral is fairly large with plenty of seating for any given service or religious affairs. The church was performing three baptismal at the same time, but given the status of the current pandemic, they did an outstanding job to mitigate exposure to the virus inside the church. The father was wearing a mask while performing the service, which made it difficult to hear him. However, the service was wonderfully translated and surprisingly the young baptismal children did not even cry during the service. I have visited many beautifully architecturally designed churches in the United States and as well as Europe. By common nature, the church is meant to encourage and deliver its patrons hope in something greater than themselves. I often notice that its intonation are interpreted in the design of the altar and the ceilings of a given cathedral. St Elizabeth has demonstrated that impression by their beautifully architecturally designed altar and overall interior design.

Robert Clerkin is at his best in bringing our Catholic Faith to those who .attend. His Homilies/Sermons at each Mass are excellent...they not only enlighten and teach, but are presented in such a way, that even younger Parishioners stay interested. This visit had 3 trucks . 1 waffle, 1 puerto richan foods and 1 roast beef. They were - ok. It noted activities and music. The only activity was a spin art thru a local long time realtor family company. Foldable but workable tables and chairs set up. A flow of families and passersby's who stopped in seeing signs. A work in progress that could become a staple event if bring in a variety of food trucks. Parking lot needs much work as there are many holes and uneven spots.

My mother gave over 50 years of her life in dedication to this…read morechurch, between Sunday (and often weekday) mass attendance, being a Eucharistic Minister, part of the Rosary Association and Ministry of Funerals amongst other social groups. It was such a significant part of her life, and she gave so much of her time and money to them, that I am deeply sad to write this review, but I do so with a calm and rational mind and in order for the people behind the scenes here to perhaps learn from their mistakes. It is important that a business (and make no mistake about it, churches are businesses) knows when they are in need of improvement. My mother passed away this past Monday 9/27/21. We had made arrangements with the wonderful Wantagh Abbey first, as we knew a week ago that Mom didn't have much time left. On Tuesday, 9/28 my sister in law, called St. Frances to plan the funeral for Friday, 10/1. Given that my mother spent 3/4 of her life as an active and dedicated parishioner here, I expected more. For example, a priest that knew her personally and could give an intelligible, personalized service would have been appreciated. Instead, the priest, a new priest as I understand it, dispassionately mumbled throughout the service and was more self-referential during the homily, rather than any attempt to honor Mom's life, who she was as a person and all that she did for that church. No one that I spoke to after the service knew what he said. My mother deserved better. However well-meaning he might have been (I won't discuss my personal feelings about priests here, but let's just say I left the Catholic faith as soon as I became an adult), what was also inexcusable was the fact that someone in this church's office saw fit to put my mom's birth year on the front of the program. We specifically asked for her birth year NOT to be put on the program. This may seem like a small thing to you or I, but Mom was very private about her age. I would say it was 100% her dying wish to not have this information out in an obituary or at the mass. You won't see it on the prayer cards we had made, either. In fact, one of my mother's closest friends remarked that she had hoped she would learn my mother's age by seeing her birth year on the prayer card, so even her close friends didn't know her age. This was a highly guarded secret and I can only assume that, given the pernicious nature of whatever organization it was, perhaps the ministry of funeral women, it seemed intentional. In other words, a huge F you to her. Shameful. I know someone went out of her way to search this birth date down because we did NOT give it in when we were asked, and we were told that after death, this should not be privileged information. What? That's not up to the women in the church office to decide. So yes, they had to hunt that information down and put it on the cover of the program despite her family's wishes. Pretty unforgivable, wouldn't you say? Whether or not you are of a certain faith, you would expect that in worst times, sickness and especially death, the organization would offer some kind of comfort to the individual and their family. St. Frances did not do this for us. I spent hours last night unsettled and profoundly sad that the church that was so important to Mom that she watched a live stream of mass daily during COVID and then throughout her debilitating illness, did not show up in any way for her nor us during this terrible time, other than to collect a hefty sum for Mom's funeral. I am disgusted.

It is now July 19; the wedding has come and gone. This roman catholic church has the feeling of holiness that emanates into your soul when you're inside it. The life-size statues, stained glass windows, gorgeous alter, and outstanding clergy. My daughter's religious mass ceremony was breathtaking, inspirational, heartwarming, and beautiful.
