The most notable and definitive action that makes me like or dislike the church is during the homily. If the priest can't keep my attention, then it's not a good fit. The outside of the church is nice, but the thing I don't like about the interior has always been the tiled floors. It always felt like it didn't belong in a church. It reminds me of a school, more than it does a church. I am forever seeking out a church that feels like home to me. I have yet to find it.

It's a historic landmark and representing the Muslim community in the USA and it is the largest mosque in the country. I'm very disappointed that I Ramadan, Iftar and Maghreb is not celebrated there.

We sadly lost my grandfather last week and decided to hold the funeral at Ss. Peter & Paul where he…read morehad been a parishioner. My family recently moved further west so we hadn't been part of the P&P parish for a bit due to distance but we wanted to go back to where my grandfather had been most comfortable for his services. Despite us being a bit less active there in the last year they were extremely kind and helpful. My grandfather had been in a nursing home for Alzheimer's and when he began to decline Father Jerry went out to the home (out in Livonia, some ways away from the church) and prayed over him and gave him last rites. He then came to the funeral home the day he passed to meet with us and gently explained all of the details of the funeral to the family. He showed immense compassion to my grandmother in particular, which made me very happy. I know that's it's his job but he did it with such care. And we were extremely grateful for it during this difficult time. The funeral itself was a lovely send off. They were kind and generous to us the whole process. The church itself is beautiful so it was a nice backdrop for our goodbyes.
