My viewpoint is only as an adult coming here to watch playoff for boys volleyball. A very nice experience. We were having difficulty with the GoFan app so they did it for us with a quick tap of my credit card. They make a speech about no bullying and good sportsmanship before the game. Only at one point, when there was a group of baseball athletes yelling out the names of our team players did my antennae go up. But it did not get rough so we let it be . I would say it was good sportsmanship! read more

I'm a parent of a current senior. Last week my daughter was given Saturday detention bc she had last years lanyard on. Also, she didnt have her polo shirt on under her Aquinas sweater, so they made her go buy a shirt at the campus store when she could've just gone to the nurse for a shirt from lost and found/donations. Mind you, there is 20 days left of school. AND I literally just donated almost all of her uniforms to the nurse. The Deans are horrible and mean, they get off on it. BUT, the football players CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT. THEY BULLY AND SLIP EVERY LINE ALL THE TIME BC THEYRE UNTOUCHABLE. It's gross. DO T SEND YOUR KIDS HERE read more

Loved this high school for my daughter. was pleased with every teacher except one! The students are committed and well mannered. Education was excellent and many high achievers. Mr. Robert Biasott, now Assistant Principal was the Dean while my child attended and he was very approachable to both students and families. My son made the mistake of joining the football team. If your a parent of a young boy be vary weary. Football program preys on the youthful ignoring you teenage boys. Being of Haitian decent and paying full tuition, I was treated as a welfare parent when I met with coaches to investigate the issues with my son. One coach tried to persuade an officer of the law to allow my son to stay with another parent because we were too hard on him when it pertained to school work. I have since lost my son and have considered legal action. The worst mistake my wife and I have ever made was not understanding the football culture of this private school. My daughter currently attends STA and she loves it! The education is both Excellent and Challenging. There are so many activities the the kids can sign up for and be involved. She has also made so many nice friends and comes home happy & excited everyday. I am really impressed by how she is blossoming in this school and how independent she has become. She can not wait for Monday's to come around so she can attend school. For that reason I feel that she is at a GREAT School and Highly recommend this school to everyone that I meet. read more

St. Thomas Aquinas High School is the worst place you could send your children. As a recent STA alum, I felt a need to explain how truly terrible STA has become. Academics: as an AP/honors student, I had some very good teachers. Mrs. Hayes, Mrs. Bane, Mr. Norton, Mrs.Castillo, Ms. Modic, Mr. Williams, and more were amazing teachers and I wouldn't have traded their classes for the world. I learned so much and loved every second. However, I was never strong in science, so I took regular science courses, and the difference is obvious. My regular biology and chemistry classes were a joke. There was never homework, extra credit was more frequent than tests, and I learned nothing. The kids in these classes have no care for schoolwork, and the teachers do not enforce them. The teachers of these classes are careless and do not even make an attempt to actually teach the information, but just say what's on the test. Although I did very well in my AP classes, the school places kids in AP classes they simply are not ready for. My AP Literature class had 30 students in it my senior year....30. A teacher should not have to teach 30 students at once. The school is monetarily persuaded to place more students in AP classes, so they put anyone they can into as many APs as they can. All of the good teachers are leaving, and STA is hiring 23 year old teachers with little to no experience. Athletics: the holy grail of STA. I was a cheerleader, and as much as STA loved to parade us around, they could have cared less that we existed. When the team traveled out of state, the cheerleaders had to pay their own flight, food, hotel, and more, while the football team (60 players) and the coaches were flown for free, stayed in a 5-star hotel, and got gourmet meals, all for free. This goes to show how football is the most important thing at STA. The school shovels money into the program, paying the head coach more than any teacher at STA. George Smith is a complete douche, who is sexist and out of touch with the 21st century. Female athletics is barely promoted, even though our girl's soccer team has won more national and state championships than football. However, if you are good at athletics, I recommend dealing with the BS of STA because if you are first string or decent, you will sign to a college easily. However, if athletics is not your thing, steer clear of STA. Religion: this is probably the biggest joke at STA. I walked into STA a devout Catholic, joining Campus Ministry and attending every retreat. However, after taking religion classes every day and seeing how religion plays a 'part' in school, I realized that STA is the furthest thing from spiritual. In the mornings when we pray, if you do not come to a complete halt in the halls, you get a suspension.... Masses are a joke, with everyone talking the whole time. Regular religion classes are honestly a joke: the teachers just hand out A's and answers. The worst part is even though religion classes are mandatory, STA only offers 6 classes a day, one being religion. Colleges disregard these classes, and it looks as if we take 5 classes a day, while public school students take upwards of 8 classes on block scheduling. STA kids are at a disadvantage academically because of the religion requirement. I am no longer Catholic, but I have yet to convert to another religion. All I know is that if the corrupt institution of STA is the embodiment of Catholicism, then I don't want anything to do with it. Administration: one word: corrupt. Dr. Aloma is turning the school from successful to shameful. Teachers are leaving by the dozens every year, and their classes are now taught by teachers who do not know the topic, are not specialized in it, or do not care about it. Mr. Norton, for example, was loaded with Macroeconomics AP, Government AP, and AP US History... Mr. Norton has admitted he does not like nor understand economics. . . why is a teacher teaching a subject he does not even understand? The administration has forced me to buy 3 uniforms in 4 years, constantly making the dress code worse and worse, and using even crueler ways to enforce the dress code. Sperrys are expensive shoes, and my friend's pair were simply too small on her. She wore the old skechers, and was given multiple saturday detentions and ultimately suspended because she could not afford finacially to buy another pair of Sperrys when her OLD school shoes fit her fine. Homecoming week is one of the worst weeks: students have no freedom anymore to wear a costume! This year, girls couldn't even show their calves, dresses and pants had to be below the ankle. Leggings were only allowed if the butt was covered. Why is the school sexualizing the body of a 17 year old? I even got a saturday for wearing an old STA skirt on a homecoming day. The administration throws money at the dumbest things, yet doesn't pay their teachers even close to a decent salary. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE. THERE ARE BETTER SCHOOLS. read more

I am s senior, Class of 2016. I used to love this school, when Mrs.Jones was the Principal, but now we have a tyrant as our principal. We used to have a fun school, where we had some freedom, but now we have an overly strict, unjust communist system. I could compare this year of school to Nazi Germany. The rules have gone from barely enforced to OVERKILL. We are forced to wear Lanyards, or we get detention, we have to PAY for a sticker with our name if we forget it, we cannot buy lunch without the lanyard on. I can understand if a student is tardy MULTIPLE times, but not one time. If one is tardy by one second, only ONCE they get a detention, even if they did not do anything wrong. The new principal is also very rude, they instituted Prime time and do not allow anyone to get out of their homerooms during that time. I am so glad I am leaving this year. I get good grades and I LOVE my teachers, but I am sick of administration. The Dean is pretty chill and funny, but the rest are psychotic. If not for my friends and great instructors; I would leave this Hellhole. This school has turned me into an atheist, I do not pray, I nap during mass. I just am sick of all the hypocritical people that are in charge of the school. The son of the principal is my favorite teacher, because he is HILARIOUS and is nothing like his mother. All in all, the school used to be good until it got turned into a concentration camp. If you want to send your child to a school where they are going to hate the ruling officials, go ahead and send them here. read more
