I pass by other hospitals to come to this location of St. Vincent Carmel. We come here for everything from broken bones to diagnostic testing. The staff is outstanding and caring including doctors, techs and support staff. You don't get a bunch of students working on you like other area hospitals. We have never had to wait long for examination. The hospital is clean and waiting areas comfortable. Parking is easy. The one thing I don't like is their mobile check-in system. In fact, I think it is the worst check in system in the country. I resent having to upload personal information through a 3rd party web site. I despise not being able to adjust the contract that they force you to sign before treatment. I only took off one star, but I would rate the mobile check in a zero star. read more

It was extremely difficult to say the least for my Mom and I and sisters to help him. However, every doctor, nurses and health aides that tended to him were very gentle and kind. He lost his health battle on July 17, 2025. I just want to say to the St. Vincent staff at Fishers and St. Vincent staff in Carmel that we appreciated everything that you did to help my Dad. You all showed much compassion to us in his last weeks of life. I could sense that it was heartbreaking for you all to see us visit our ailing Dad. If you're thinking about going here, I would highly recommend against it. I went to Carmel st v with high blood pressure and excessive vomiting. The "great" Dr profeta steps in and said I was gonna have to just wait it out in the ER room. He was cold and calculus, and he didn't give one care about any suffering. I left and went to Riverview in Westfield and was treated wonderfully. They gave me the meds I needed to calm me down instead of just ignoring and making me stick it out. He is one cold hearted Dr.. if you really want to help you or a family member and that's your doctor I would highly highly recommend going elsewhere especially if you want to be treated as a human being. read more

I came to St. Vincent to have a CT scan on my sinuses for my ENT. I was very impressed with the quality of care and customer service I received from the staff. When I walked in the building, I was greeted by Tiffany, one of the nurses, and she was very gracious and pleasant. She had me sign some paperwork and told me to go to Radiology/imaging for the CT scan. She told me exactly where to go and to just follow the signs. I went to Radiology/Imaging and walked up to the window. The nurse greeted me and I gave her my name. She told me to have a seat and someone would come out to get me. The nurse was very pleasant. After about 15 minutes, a nurse called my name and I went to the back. She was very friendly and very helpful, and asked me a couple pre-routine questions. Another nurse explained the procedure for the CT scan to me and walked me through the process with ease and great customer service. The whole CT scan lasted only a few minutes, and when I was done, I was free to leave. The entire staff was very friendly and very professional, and made me feel very good about myself. This was a wonderful experience and I would not change anything for the world. St. Vincent hospital is a great hospital! I would come back here again for care in a heartbeat. read more

And she has the nerve to come in and say we're not giving you more meds. So beware of an almost 80 year-old short hair nurse overnight in the emergency department. She is cruel, cold, and will make you feel bad for looking for help. I would not recommend this hospital to any of my family members after this. Also, the staff likes to talk crap about the patient. I was told to wait in the waiting room, about an hour and a half had gone by, and I still hadn't been called to get treatment. I was crying because I was in so much pain and a young boy came in screaming because of an arm injury. We both ended up leaving to go somewhere else at about the same time. I understand being busy, but my appendix was rupturing and I was treated like I was being "too dramatic". Do better. read more

Very very rude. I was seen by NP Mbessi yesterday for an ongoing sickness that Ascension had continually pushed me to urgent care for (multiple trips in 2 months) I was FINALLY able to see a provider with Ascension who I am (was) and established patient with. Mbessi saw me with a sinus infection and prescribed me Prednisone and told me to follow up with Dr. Patterson my Asthma and Allergy specialist. I called Dr Pattersons office on my way home and was told Prednisone was not only not going to help but that an antibiotic is what I needed. Mbessi had told me that the green thick mucus and face pain and swelling were from uncontrolled asthma. Dr. Pattersons office informed me that is absolutely not the case and I needed antibiotics for a sinus infection which has nothing to do with my asthma. The nurse at Dr Pattersons office informed me because I had seen Mbessi that day for this issue if they saw me as well insurance would likely fight the double office visits on one day. Dr. Pattersons nurse told me to call and request an antibiotic and if they refused to tell them to call Dr. Patterson to confirm this was necessary. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes I drove to the office still on hold to get someone to answer me on if I could get an antibiotic. Mbessi told his staff he would call one in (at this time he had left the building for the day (4:00pm)). The office manager assured me that it would be called in to my pharmacy shortly. By 6 pm my pharmacy still had no record of an antibiotic and they were closing at 7pm. I called the after hours nurse requesting the antibiotics that I was told would be called in to be called in. I was connected to Mbessi by phone and he IMMEDIATELY was exceedingly condescending, loud, and rude. When I stated that he was supposed to call in the antibiotics his response was "No I am not supposed to call it in. I told my staff to tell you I would call it in but I was not supposed to do anything." Then when I told him that by having his staff tell me that it was getting called in that made it that he was "supposed to" he hung up the phone on me. I called the after hours again. This time I was told that he was calling it in and the after hours were instructed not to allow any of my phone calls through to after hours. I reported this through the portal as well as to the office manager at the Ascension office he works at. I will never go back and strongly recommend if you want to be listened to and treated with respect and care find ANYONE else. read more

My family member called me from this hospital , as well as his therapist and when I called back to ask about his care they told me he wasn't a patient. I kindly asked if they could double check if maybe his information was entered in correctly and the woman on the phone clearly didn't want to do her job. She was just extremely rude, refused to check and just said "I said I don't have anyone by that name." I'm hoping her bad attitude doesn't reflect the care that he is receiving. I now worry about how they are treating him there and would not recommend this hospital, based off this experience alone. Hire people who actually want to do their job and who can treat people with respect. read more

Fantastic surgeons & caregivers. Dr. Beeson & his nurses checked on me daily once discharged. Even had a nurse w/ me for 72hours around the clock icing me down when I got to my hotel. Also when I left the hospital they gave me a thank you card... I was shocked cause I didn't do anything, they cared for me! I have never experienced such caring people in my life of taking care of mom & Dad w/ Cancer even. Not one Dr or nurse compares. Thank you all so much. I'm hoping to increase this rating after future visits but my first visit to the St.Vincent Women's Center wasn't ideal. Someone had cancelled and rescheduled my appointment without ever telling me so when I showed up they said I was no longer on the schedule (bummer because I never made these schedule revisions and drive all the way from downtown for this appointment). Fortunately, after some schedule moving and checking around, the receptionist was able to squeeze me in thirty minutes later for an appointment with a different nurse practitioner than the gyno I originally had scheduled. From there on out, things turned around for the better. The nurse assistant, Nurse Practitioner Amy and the ultrasound technician were all very kind and informative. My next appointment is booked and fingers crossed, the calendar doesn't mess things up. read more

Care was great until I was placed on the orthopedic floor. There were no assessments done by any nurse's including looking at my large back incision...and I was there 3 days! My catheter came out at 10pm my post op night. I could hear the night nurses discussing whether to put one back in and they chose not to. Within two hours I started having bladder spasms that was the worse pain I've ever had . It got worse and worse. The night nurse called the Dr and got order for stronger but she failed to tell him what kind of pain I was in and that it was my bladder. My surgeon came in early morning and told might nurse to insert catheter stat. She said I don't have time, I get off in 30 minutes. I could not believe she just left me in pain. Day nurse came to put catheter in about 2 hours later. She tried several times and said I must have a problem there. She kept trying to put it in my vagina and didn't seem to know it. A urologist was called and it took him 2 minutes to put it in and said there was no problem. I had a total of 1700 cc of urine immediately so my bladder had been stretched 3 times it's size! This caused me to have to go home with a catheter. There was no compassion in any staff that took care of me instead they acted put out everytime I would ask for anything! There was also talk outside my door that of course I could hear. Kudos to the PT staff though. They were kind and helpful. No I do not ever plan to return here read more

Little bit of a gym mishap and this was the only place to get an X-ray. It was Saturday night and we were in and out in 2 hours. Everyone was super friendly. Except the front desk girl, she was just weird, and you had to yell through the glass to communicate-signs everywhere not to open the glass. Yes, the backstory is necessary; When me and my mom first moved to Indianapolis in 2008 we got an apartment on the third floor of a building that had no elevator so we have to go up and down three flights of stairs with heavy boxes. Holding a heavy box of purses I put my hand on one of the glass panels in the heavy wooden door, expecting it to hold my weight. My hand went RIGHT THROUGH it. Glass and blood was everywhere! My mom only knew about the St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel and so she drove me there. They saw my hand and immediately got me a room, did tests and gave me an anesthetic before stitching the wound up. I was crying into my moms shoulder, refusing to look as they reattached the flap of skin back onto my right hands ring finger. The nurses and doctors were very nice and comforting to me and my mom. Even though it's been 10 years and probably a lot has changed in that time, they are my go-to hospital in a medical emergency, despite how far away they are. The high rating is for bedside manner, kindness, comforting, everything doctors and nurses should be. read more

Not impressed. When we walked in we were asked about three questions each and our temp was taken. Pretty standard for the situation right now. We both came in with double layer 100% cotton masks on covering our noses and mouth. We were handed throwaway mask and told to change our masks for theirs. Seems wasteful. but for a profit hospital with money to burn I guess they can be wasteful. Sitting waiting on my family member I noticed at least 4 employees not wearing a mask and one employee with hers not tied and just hanging on her nose with help of her glasses. While other medical facilities are struggling to get masks handing them out to people with a face covering just seems like a poor use of supplies. Distribute those to places needing help. I know one hospital is giving homemade masks to patients when they walk in the door because the lack of supplies. I myself have made over 1000 masks and donated them all. read more

I was admitted to the ER in October of this year. I received the worst care I have ever received at this hospital. I was never assessed by a physician and my main concern of pain in my chest, back and abdomen was never treated or diagnosed. The care I received was minimal and I was sent home with no diagnosis for my pain and no pain relief. The physician and nurse treated me without compassion or care in regards to my concerns. I was sent home with abnormal labs and a referral to a GI doctor. Upon seeing the GI physician he explained to me that my labs were abnormal and asked if any tests were run such as an ultrasound or CT scan. I said no nothing had been run. He was also concerned at the lack of attention to detail of my care. Do not go to this emergency room. Head to IU North where you will get proper care and compassion from the staff. read more

I have been calling the hospital's billing department for several days after speaking with 2 representatives who indicated my 3rd party bill was a 'scam' according to Rose and someone named Anne. I have called several times since and the calls drop on their end. Now today they tell me that their 3rd party billing is Vituity and legitimate. What's also interesting when you google Ascension St Vincent, the number that comes up does not say St Vincent but "AJ Alpha Jones"-something is not right here. It is difficult to overstate how frustrated I am with the billing department at the hospital and with the physician billing group. I have an impressive collection of statements from them, saying we owe anything from 0 to 30,000 dollars. I have had a collection agency sent after us for a bill we never received. This is all in regards to my son's birth--- he is about to turn three. I was just recently told over the phone that we owed $1300, but when I demanded they send us a written statement it said we owed $0. To be clear, we were fully insured and paid over $8k in bills out of pocket. For what it's worth the doctors did an excellent job with my wife and son, but I assume there are plenty of other hospitals that could do the same--- dealing with their billing department has been one of the worst things that has ever happened to me, read more

My wife Ashley had our second baby boy here on May 31st. The labor and delivery went great! While in the postpartum side, my wife hemorrhaged. It was honestly the worst and scariest experience of our lives. She lost consciousness several times. We started with 1 nurse, but in a matter of seconds it seemed as if all the nurses were in our room, working on my wife. Some stayed passed their shifts. In the end before discharge, Ashley was given a blood transfusion. Thank you to all the nurses involved. I really believe you saved Ashley's life. These nurses are EXTREMELY professional and I know they handle stuff like this everyday. Why anyone would choose to come to this hospital, ON PURPOSE - just amazes me. We have had so many issues from the moment my daughter got here. Nurses are very insensitive to the patients needs and discomfort (ER nurses were great compared to her nurses on the orthopedic floor - which makes no sense). And if a patient is allergic to a slew of medications, foods, and translucent medical tape - wouldn't ya think they'd have an allergy alert bracelet on her so they don't continue to use the wrong tape over & over again. I don't have a lot to base my review on because I have not spent a lot of time here. However, upon first impression this is the nicest hospital I have ever been in and I've had occasions to be in many hospitals. The atmosphere is very warm and soothing. This seems like a pre-written e-mail and the same one was used with other negative reviews on Yelp. Clean and sanitize the rooms. Get rid of the dirt and bacteria in the corners and where the floor meets the wall. Talk to patients about how you have sanitized pens, clip boards, the sides of the bed.... I am a business owner whose home and are much more sanitary than your hospital. Step it up. read more

It is hard to accurately review a hospital. However, based on the micro-sample of my experience, I feel like this hospital is ran by saints and super heroes. My niece was recently prematurely born with under developed lungs. And, between the stress it placed on this little girl, and the stress it placed on my sister/brother-in-law, you would have felt the pressure of the world collapsing around you. However, this facility takes its work very seriously. And, the nurses make it clear on a minute-by-minute basis that they would rather do nothing else but attend to the needs of little ones in distress. My niece is maturing quite well now. Not only did they attend to her health needs, but they also did everything they could to attend to the emotional bond that is crucially developing in those early days of life between a child and parent. This hospital has been a short term sanctuary and home for my family. If you have need to be there, be at peace. You are going to receive the best care possible. read more

Thankfully I don't often have the opportunity to review a hospital, but I recently had surgery and I am really impressed with the staff at St. Vincent Carmel. From admission to all the aftercare, the nurses and techs were attentive and caring. It's not exactly easy to have to rely on others so much but they never made me feel like I was a nuisance. The hospital registration was well staffed and every area I interacted with was prompt. All the staff, including volunteers, were friendly and helpful. At first I was upset with the drive to Carmel but afterwards I'm glad my procedure was scheduled here. I even enjoyed the Gift Shop as they carried several items I had not seen before.
