This is a really cute store, but is big enough to have lots of departments. It reminds me of the Woolworth's stores that I remember as a kid. It's big, no doubt, and has lots of items, but it does not have that impersonal, corporate feel of a super Wal-Mart. There are real people at the counter, who have real things to say (not off a script) and who are actually nice. They have toys, housewares, arts and crafts (which comprises a fairly large section of the store), small appliances, and even a 'dollar store' section in the back. And, prices are pretty low, which is surprising. Beiter's may be a chain in the PA area (I think there is more than one store) but it has not lost that real American feel of a good ole general store. My family and I stumbled across this gift shop in search of local items that are uniquely from Hershey, Pennsylvania. There isn't much shops that carry Non-Chocolate items in the vicinity. However, it was a nice change of pace from the Norm when we found homemade salsa, quilts, framed arts and various items that looked very authentic but they did carry a decent amount of Hershey products including; Coffee Muggs, Shot Glasses, Magnets & Keychains that pays homage to Hershey. After all, this is the Chocolate Capitol of the U.S.A At the time of our visit, there was only 1 person managing the store but she was very friendly and knowledgeable with the local area and did a great job in helping us out.
