My group and I stopped in here for a dinner after finding that pretty much every restaurant within…read morethe city center was entirely booked on a Saturday night. Which goes to show, Inverness is pretty happening on the weekends. Sorry for underestimating you. But long story short, that is how we found ourselves at a Mexican restaurant in the middle of the Highlands of Scotland, which is definitely not what we were hoping for. I always feel bad giving a less than positive review, so I'll start with the positives first: 1. Very large space - which means they will likely be able to accomodate a large group. It wraps around the block - it is deceptively large. 2. Restaurant looks recently renovated. 3. There is a DJ playing decent music on weekends. 4. The beers we ordered were nice and cold. 5. None of us got food poisoning, and while I did not particularly love my tofu tacos, it served its purpose. The negatives: 1. The chicken and onion quesadillas that one person in my party ordered did not contain cheese. Cheeseless quesadillas. Definitely not remotely Mexican. 2. The guacamole side we ordered came with maybe just 8 nacho cheese flavored doritos. Definitely not an adequate amount for the amount of guac in the bowl. Also, nacho cheese Doritos really have no place in Mexican restaurants. 3. The restrooms in the basement are grimy. The renovation did not extend to this portion. 4.The food in general is not mexican. Having visited Mexico a number of times, It is not even a reasonable facsimile. Also, there is no salsa, no pico de gallo, only Frank's red hot sauce available to spice up your dish.

We also were not looking to eat at a Mexican restaurant. Ordered 5 margaritas took 20 minutes to…read moreget them and they were about 3 oz for 11 pound. Way too much for 3 ounce drink. Food was good. We had a variety of orders they were good.

Came back after three years for lunch. We really loved it the first time around and looked forward…read morebeing back. And it really is great as ever. We've ordered the fried fish wrap, the seafood bowl and some fresh oysters. We actually wanted also some langoustines like last time. But since the menu is always a bit changing and depending on the catch, this time this option wasn't available. But there were some of them in the mixed seafood bowl. Also some herring, salmon, seafood dip and salad was in the delicous bowl. The fried fish wrap was excellent as well. Fresh cod, nicely fried. Crispy outside and nice, fresh and tender inside. Good stuff. And now for the highlight: The Oysters. We've had oysters in the Normandy (France), Spain, Italy, Portugal, South Korea, Japan, Australia, the US and in many other places. In several spots in England and Scotland as well. And these here were so far the best we've ever had! Fresh flavours of the sea, nicely sized, very sweet, smooth and creamy. Excellent oysters - almost drove three hours back the next day just to get some more. -But an altogether six-hour drive was a bit too much in the end. Hopefully next time around the oysters will be as great as this time. This time the weather was pretty cold and it was a bit rainy at times. So it was easy to get a table - even got one under the tent. Last time it was warm and sunny, but hard to get a seat and there was a long line. This time it was all easy, an advantage of this kind of weather which we didn't mind at all. A really really great place to grab some fantastic seafood items. We definitely will be back.

I went with the Oysters and was so happy try this local flavor. Watching people who ordered their meal hot service came quickly. For those wanting more than a soda there is a gin stand highlighting local gins. Picnic tables are perfect for sharing with strangers. Take the plunge and sit down and get to know the mix of locals and vacationers.
