The food came out quickly and was still hot. Although we typically do not eat fish, if you're going to try it, try it here. We left nothing on our plate. Service was quick for such a large group. No issues and thanks to the staff for a great experience.

I had the fish 'n chips and was informed the come two ways....the regular way and then with breadcrumbs. I asked the server which he preferred and he said with breadcrumbs, so that's what I ordered. Oh my, they were delicious! The fries were so good too. Nothing was greasy. It came with a small side of mushy peas and I could've had a whole plate of those but with the huge generous portion of fish I got, I couldn't even finish the second fish let alone having more mushy peas. My husband ordered the mussels and they were plump, juicy and large. I don't know how many he got but there were a lot of mussels! I'm wanting to say probably 20 or maybe even more. He said they were amazing, and they were served in a tin bucket which was pretty cool....the lid served as a perfect receptacle for the empty shells. We shared a sticky toffee pudding at the end which was incredible. The service was wonderful and friendly so we highly recommend this place!

This is far and away the best food in ullapool*…read more The place absolutely feels like the seaside cottage restaurant that it is. It's been around longer than you and I combined. The food however is a solid mix of traditional and new, ranging from fish n chips to lamb shanks; and oh man that lamb, it came served on the bone, but then promptly feel right off in the most tender pile of meat ever. The fish and chips were the best I had in Scotland this past trip, the burger (late night visit) is nothing to write home about (it is huge tho, only get if you're starving). The folks who work here are super nice, and you're more than welcome to get a drink at the bar and go sit by the water as you wait for your table - you can watch the ferry go out and have a pint , ptery much the most highlands thing one can do. --------- * And everyone knows it, make a reservation or you won't be eating herr

There are a few tables across the road so we grabbed a beer to take in the beautiful view of Loch Broom. We put our name down for dinner since there was a wait and were seated after about 30 minutes. We poured over the menu and the large list of specials up on the wall. Chuck decided his first meal would have to be fish, while I chose a roasted lamb shank. We were not disappointed. When the food came out, the portions were very large but it is high quality. The piece of fish was almost larger than the plate. My lamb was cooked to well that it just fell off the bone with the slightest touch and melted in my mouth. It was the perfect way to start our adventure in the highlands. The ingredients were very fresh and locally sourced. We returned for dinner again for our last night. They were slam packed and we were unable to put our names in for a table. Instead, we went to sit in the bar section, which is first come first serve. Thankfully, we were able to get two seats at the bar and sat for a few rounds before ordering some food. We saw the burgers on our first trip and had to order them for our last meal. These were also very large. It is served with a tomato chutney which was very tasty. As we wrapped up, an accordion player started a set in the back corner. He was really good and everyone in the bar was having a great time. If I ever find myself in Ullapool again, I hope the Arch Inn will still be there to enjoy another meal.

Service not the best (for such a top establishment). Not attentive. Even worse, no apologies when there was plastic in the dish! That is a major fail to be honest. Waiter said he'd talk to kitchen and never came back. When the bill came we had to tell this different waiter about the whole episode. Again no apology but when she came back with a revised bill she quietly took the charge off (so that dish was free). Fine but why such bad handling of this whole incident?

Emma was our server and was warm; delightful and very helpful with my gluten allergy; and Rebecca, the manager, was lovely, and helped us earlier in the day to arrange transport from Sconser. For the meal .... Well! We started with the crab, which was flavorful and very fresh. My husband saw the table next to us served the Curried Cauliflower soup, and had to try it. Super!! The entrees were exceptional; I had a lovely, thick piece of cod, with a beautiful butter and lemon sauce with grape tomatoes, and they subbed out a stacked potato dish, due to my gluten allergy, and it was delicious. My husband had the scallops with pork belly, and while both were fantastic, the pork belly was truly amazing. We also had a side of the seasonal vegetables, which were crisp and very fresh. We were taken to our table upstairs, frankly it was warm and a bit uncomfortable. Our server was a charming man, who unfortunately for him was working along on his first day. The restaurant was short staffed and they assisted him very well. He apologized multiple times. The goat cheese salad starter was reasonably good, certainly not great. My wife selected the halibut special that was frankly too salty. My choice of the monkfish was much better. On the recommendation of the people at the next table, I ordered the cheese board dessert. It was the best part of my meal.
