They have the biggest humidor in all of Colorado, and have a great selection for Pipe smokers as well. The cigars are fairly priced compared to your average local shop, and they have brands I've never seen before. I can't imagine how you could ever have a bad experience in this place. Just started really smoking cigars about two months ago and this was my first time there! The humidor was overwhelming to walk around in, you definitely realize no matter how many years you have on this earth you'll never smoke everything available. But the people were incredibly helpful in figuring out what would probably be best for me to try out, and you can tell they're all very passionate and knowledgeable about the industry and the product. I used to come here with my grandfather to get his cigars. I don't know if it was ran by the same people as now, but I don't remember the guy running the place to be a complete insensitive ignorant a-hole. I was not able to charge my phone long enough this morning so as I while I was out running some errands I saw an outlet on the side of the Stag tobacconist ( on austin bluffs and academy. ) I use my phone a good amount throughout my day and it was at 1 percent. I didn't see any signs saying " No loitering " " private property " etc... I didn't have to climb any fence or hop over any borders, it right in the open , a few steps from the sidewalk. So I pulled out my charging cord , plugged in and sat down in the shade, the heat outside was unbearable. I waited for my phone to hit 2 percent and turned it on to watch a movie while I waited for it to charge up. I wasn't doing anything beside sit there quietly , watching a movie on my phone, legs crossed minding my own business. I didn't have any messes around me, just me and my backpack. Like Dracula, with footsteps silent as death, appears this Dan Devito lookalike , holding what seemed to be his " alternative/recreational medical dependency supplement briefcase/lockbox " almost swiping the corner of it into my temple , and comes at me with such a rude and ugly approach saying, " You piece of homeless scumb, time to get going back to the Landfill that you crawled out of! Your ruining the property value, you little cockroach. I'd stomp all over you, but i will let the Law enforcement officers take care of you this time. " and stomped away like a 5 year old little girlð who didn't get her turn riding the ponies. I was very polite and responded with " alright, no problem. I'll move along. My apologies". I unplugged my cord , as it into my backpack, and started down the sidewalk . Never have I met someone so disrespectful and in addition to such a rancid personality . Had he come up to me in a much calmer manner, I would have still responded with respect but with more understanding and appreciation of treating someone else like a human being , and moved right along. I feel laid-back-cool just walking INto this place - once I found it, it's sort of hidden which just ups the cool factor. And I don't even smoke cigars (unless I'm driving the golf cart and have made friends with the beer girl and it's left unattended, but THAT is a different story. *cough cough*). My hubby, however, DOES smoke cigars. While he was deployed I would go into Stag to find new cool cigars to send him - their cigar humidor is gi-nor-mous (you know I actually Googled that 'word' to ensure I was spelling it correctly? Yessir.) and has the best selection I've seen locally by far. They also have a completely separate humidor for pipe tobacco, if you're into that sort of thing. But what really sets these guys apart aside from selection is a) the 5 or 6 overstuffed leather couches off in their own section which will fill up when Stag is holding events (in fact they're having a Rocky Patel cigar event this weekend, just sayin') and the incredibly knowledgeable staff. I casually asked about the fancy cigar lighters displayed and - even though I wasn't the one making a purchase that day - I easily got a ten minute demonstration of lighter quality, comparisons, and recommendations. Like the funny commercial - that immediately yells out- asking for your barbecue order...as I step in - a crowd was at the counter - and before getting to counter to ask about some cigars - a guy yells out everyone must have an ID. Let me say it caught me wrong - being over 60. How about, "Hello- how can I help you." Yes, i understand they have a right to card and they hold a heavy responsibility to not sell to the underaged! It felt much they do at airport bars when they can't trust the inexperienced counter person and are always busy!! My first thought was- they have gotten too popular to be courteous- but may be just the counter person - who, I think I have bought before (i think) and not a great personality. I have been there before - and had Veronicas kind help. But, to shout out in a rude/classless way was a huge turnoff. They definitely need some good competition!! If someone has also considered - let me know-- I believe in treating employees with respect and customer with respect -- appreciating every customer and every oder - knowing they can go someplace else. In CS there is not a place with a combination of -- maybe not!!! There is no place with high cigar offerings and fun to be at. I also live in Scottsdale - wow- some great role-model-businesses. I found my four high end cigars and left the humidor for purchase and ended up stuck behind four guys that couldn't stop asking the associate for different things. He visible knew I was frustrated. I knew this place when I was here on a business trip in 2009. Great atmosphere back then but now, after moving here, we have Covid. No smoke lounge currently but still great selections. Staff is friendly and plenty of cigars and pipe tobacco to choose from. Prices have increased since 2009, more expensive than our former home in Washington State, and I was told that prices will be going up another dollar per stick due to taxes. Drive way into the establishment is a little hard to find. I used to frequent this place everyday for four months over 10 years ago and I still drove passed it. I had to circle around. My suggest, if relying on GPS, go slow! It is really just a normal driveway. I would recommend this place but take your time and ask questions when touring the humidor. I paid a LOT of money for a Xicar lighter. I fell for a big sales job telling me "if anything happens you bring it back to us and we will send it in for repair or replacement." I didn't have it for very long at all before it started to leak fluid, so I took it back. Needless to say they didn't do anything they said they would do. I generally order most of my pipe tobacco from an online distributor. However, This time I was in pinch and needed something quick and honestly I didn't feel like waiting 3-5 days or paying an outrageous over night shipping cost.... I've been shopping, stopping, and smoking here for years and only wish I could go more often! As a regular cigar smoker I can attest that it is becoming increasingly hard to find a great cigar shop let alone one at all and Stag Tobacconist will always be my go to place for cigars. I know online cigar sites are the thing, but I strongly suggest supporting your local business instead, this is that business. The staff is always always always friendly, very knowledgable and incredibly accommodating to any need or want I have! My husband and I frequent the events they have and the deals are amazing during shows and on any given day they are just as reasonable as any cigar store so I never feel ripped off which I've experienced in plenty of cigar stores half as decent as Stag. Their humidor is very ample as is their pipe and tobacco section. Anyone who has always wanted to try smoking should go because the staff will spend any amount of time explaining and showing you whatever you need to know and as someone who has been smoking for a while I always enjoy trying new recommended cigars. The double edged sword is their smoking area. They have a nice patio, not a lot of seats but most smoke inside anyway. That's the double edged side. The inside smoking area is very comfortable with large over sized "man chairs" of soft leather that are warm and inviting. I would smoke there a lot more if there were actually chairs available. The downside is there is CONSTANTLY a group (rather large) of retired men who are literally there all day every day. So good luck trying to sit and relax and smoke if there are more than a few which is a bummer because they never buy anything but enjoy plopping down all day. Those of us that are patrons and enjoy buying cigars and would enjoy trying a smoke at that time get frustrated because we feel a bit slighted by the group who never leave. That's my personal vent because for years this has always been the case. If they purchased it would be justifiable but it's frustrating none the less but I wouldn't rob them of a much deserved fifth star because of it. Their wives must kick them out at 10am and they run to Stag. If I could, I probably would too! However, even though I rant about that, it isn't a reflection on Stag itself because Stag is truly incredible and a gem of a cigar and pipe shop. Today my husband and I went to another event and it was a doozie! The owner of Drew Estate, Jonathan Drew himself was there and it was truly a treat. I would actually akin it to a date night it was so fun. I'd like to think of myself as an aficionado and I may be only an emerging one but I know a great cigar when I smoke one and I'm damn sure when I find a priceless store to find a stick I want to lick. As far as cigar shops go that I have personally ever been to (10-15 in my life) This is by far the best. The selection is massive. You can find a cigar from $2 to $50 each and if you get them on one of the special Saturdays when they are doing an event the prices can be comparable to Internet prices. You can buy them by the box or a single. They have a numbering system that makes it aesthetically pleasing if you plan on displaying them in a humidor because they do not attach a price sticker to each cigar. The humidor in the building is the largest I have ever seen. Imagine your living room at home, that is roughly the size of just the cigar room. They have a nice selection of personal humidors also with 15-20 different sizes and styles along with a multitude of lighters and cutters to suit your needs. The other features of this place is the large pipe tobacco selection which also has its own room and many different pipes to choose from. I have personally never seen this before so it is an added bonus to me. They also have a cigar smoking room which just has a bunch of old guys hanging around telling stories and talking sports and politics which in my opinion adds to the ambiance. If you are not a cigar smoker, do not go inside, the building is thick with smoke 100% of the time since every person that works there always has one lit as well as the smoking lounges lack of a door. As far the employees are concerned, they are extremely knowledgeable about the products, They learn your tastes and can make recommendations that so far for me have not been wrong. Parking can be a nightmare since the lot is small and seems to be a one way in kind of design. This was my first venture into a Tobacco store. I wanted to get my husband a gift reminiscent of our trip to the Caribbean, and he really enjoyed the cigar bar at our resort - so I decided that was the way to go. Keep in mind - I am CLUELESS.
