I was referred to Stan and am so happy we gave him a call. In our case, we are doing a sale of a property from parent to child and needed to verify everything tax wise is correct. I tend to do better when things are laid out in front of me so I asked if I could stop by the office and he was able to meet with me same day (I got lucky since tax season had ended). The office manager, Janet, was great and made us feel welcomed right away. Stan was able to lay out everything and help us understand the process. When it came time to come in for the tax appoiuntment Stan was very short and irritable, then hung up on me. I dont think he looked at any of my information until right before our appoinement. Called Stan as we needed to obtain an estimate of taxes that would be owed, after the sale of a property, so we could distribute funds from a trust. In my very 1st conversation with Stan, he took the initiative to make a 3-way call to talk to my lawyer's office in order to clarify some questions he had; this is before I even hired him. That was when I knew I had found the right person to help us. Stan couldn't get started on it right away, but he gave me an estimate of when he would be able to get it done, and he got it done. Here's a little piece of advice, if you're unable to complete someone's taxes in 6 months...you should grow a pair, pick up the phone and tell the person who was patiently waiting for you to do your job that you are unable to do so! It's really simple. Your secretary felt bad for how you treated me and was kind enough to forward my information along to a different company who completed my taxes in 3 days! 3...DAYS! Was it because we're a military family? Was it because we haven't been life long clients of yours? I had questions regarding the capital gains taxes that would be due on the sale of a home that had been gifted to me years ago. An internet search brought me to Stan. He took the time to discuss my situation and answer all of my questions, even though I was not a current customer. He was more than helpful and professional, at one point telling me he wanted to check another source to make sure he was providing the correct information. He called back within a few minutes after having verified the information. He then graciously provided me with the next steps needed to calculate the basis for the capital gains. Stan was the second CPA I called. The first one requested I come to the office, bring any and all documentation I could find from 30 years ago and charge me $175.00 for half and hour. We found Stan on Yelp and our first visit with him to do our taxes wasn't too bad. However, when tax time rolled around again the next year it was a different story. We received a postcard with our appointment day and time. Ok, fine. I had called Stan to ask a question and left him a message. He called me back and left a message. When I got back to him 2 days later he was upset that I didn't IMMEDIATELY return his call. Stan then told me that he would not do our taxes and promptly cancelled our appointment leaving us scrambling at the last minute to find someone else. Seriously?! I'm not sure how people put up with this DIVA-ish behavior. It was rude, unprofessional, and just plain wrong. Get over yourself Stan, you're not that special. read more
