I have been a patient here for over 10 years. I have been with multiple different Provide providers over my time here at Stanbro. Please heed this warning, This is not somewhere you want to go if you are actually looking for help with psychiatric care. this place is what I would call a "pill mill". Here are the following reasons why I will be leaving: The front desk staff has been highly unprofessional over my entire 10 years of coming here. It is quite literally impossible to reach anybody by phone. One time My visit payment was declined, despite having a working card on file. the card somehow "disappeared" and I wasn't made aware until I was trying to refill my prescription. I was told that they would not refill my prescription, despite me re-giving them my credit card and them charging it, I still wasn't able to fill my prescription until I had another appointment. I reminded them that the Medication I was refilling was a high risk medicine to discontinue abruptly as side effects Include seizure and death. whoever refills prescriptions told me that they could do nothing about it and I just had to wait for my appointment. THIS IS ILLEGAL. A psychiatrist cannot legally withhold life-saving medication On the basis of nonpayment. This is called PATIENT ABANDONMENT MALPRACTICE. that did not matter to them. I had to wait for my appointment and suffer through intense and scary withdrawals for three days. When I had my appointment I brought it up and all that was given was a dry apology and "I'll look into it". -(PA, William Sims) Another reason I am leaving is because once after starting a new medication, I started experiencing hallucinations and extreme euphoria. I brought this up to my provider and despite having a diagnosis for bipolar disorder he literally said "I don't think this is something we need to address now, let's just focus on the increase We are doing today on your ADHD medication". And then it was never addressed again. I lost a significant amount of weight And went into what I could only characterize as a manic episode. -(PA, William Sims) Final reason why I'm leaving is because I was put on a medication called Cymbalta. The company that Manufacturers Cymbalta, Eli Lilly, has Undergone multiple lawsuits for failing to disclose to patients about severe long lasting withdrawal symptoms. As a psychiatrist this is information you would have knowledge to and are ethically required to inform a patient you are prescribing a new medication to of the risks and dangers of that medication. I was never warned or even told about the risks involved and I am still suffering to this day. Instead, my psychiatrist overtime has put me on the highest allowable Dosage of 120 mg, Despite me raising concerns of the severe withdrawal I experience and vertigo. -(PA, William Sims) If you take anyone's advice please take mine. Due to my condition, It has taken me far too long to reach out and find new psychiatric care but I finally have and it is a world of difference from this place. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. The quality since variety took over is a putrid mess of ineptitude, script delays, non comms, and radio silence. It can take a day or 2.5 weeks to refill a medial prescription. With no information as to why it takes so long. You just have to run with the risk of not having mediation. Even if you call well before. The providers themselves are an exemplar of medical professionalism and care. Every single interaction with the doctors and PAs were wonderful and helped me greatly with my conditions. Unfortunately, the opposite is the case when being forced to engage with the staff and nurses in order to get a simple medication. Sometimes, i had to wait days, sometimes weeks. As a significant portion of medication given by the providers do best when taken regularly, having massive gaps in taking them is not conducive to promoting health and wellness. If you have a need for consistent, reliable, and kind interactions with your provider, due to malicious and hostile interactions with the gate keeping individual, I would recommend finding a different provider. If the interactions with them had been respectful and professional, this group would EASILY rate 5 stars. That is not the case. From having to endure numerous mistakes in sending prescriptions to the wrong pharmacy, to enduring threats, to enduring insult and ridicule, to intentional neglect to follow the directive of the provider to punish and harm. I hope that people will AVOID THIS PROVIDER AT ALL COSTS for the good of their mental health and emotional stability. It is not a place of healing. I was forced to seek a new provider and inform them their services will no longer be required. I had to find an office i can feel safe and conducive to bettering my mental health. I hope they are able to help the staff with whatever they are going through, as it is a shame to have to go through trauma to heal from trauma. read more

They always talk to us about how it's very important for us to stay on our medications and then when my Pharmacy faxes for a refill, it takes them like 5 business days to get back a response. I do not feel like my provider likes to speak with nor does he want to connect to an actual patient. I do not like Stanbro. This is the THIRD time that they have neglected to answer medication fax refills. Now I'm sitting in my room crying and angry because my are no longer balanced. This group charges $200 per 15 minute visit and require multiple appointments per year, just to refill a medication. They also charge a $75 fee for missing an appointment, and require that a payment is made up front or your appointment is automatically canceled. Their billing office is very rude and actually hung up on me for asking questions about my bill. This place is a scam. read more

Kristin Colton is a lifesaver! I've been seeing her for about 6mo now & have no complaints. I appreciate the continued utilization of Telemedicine - it makes keeping appointments much easier for me & causes minimal interruptions to my 4/1 WFH/in-office hybrid schedule. Any time I call in for refills (usually around 8-9am with 5-10 days remaining in my script) they are sent to the pharmacy by 11am-12pm, & the pharmacy will fill them when the time comes. Shouts out to Ralph's Family Pharmacy in Edmond - $5 for 30 days of generics (United Healthcare insurance), always communicative & prompt with refills, My only minor complaint is that the offices are closed on Fridays, which sometimes limits the times I am able to make appointments. That said, I understand the benefits of a 4-day workweek & would never hold that against them. When I was a public high school teacher, the 4-day workweek reduced burnout, improved morale, boosted students' performances, & decreased the number of students in the principal's office for behavior referrals. Gang, if your workplace can feasibly do the 4-day week, get the workers together & lobby the bosses to give it a shot. I can't suggest it strongly enough. More time to spend on hobbies/with family is always worth it. :) But I digress. I can't speak for any pediatric/adolescent services, but every experience I've had with Stanboro via Kristin Colton has been fantastic. Kind, empathetic, understanding, non-judgmental, & always receptive to my POV are adjectives/phrases that come to mind. She has been so incredibly helpful in starting treatments, carefully & cautiously adjusting dosages & trying different meds to find the best option, maintaining regular checkups, & actively ensuring any side effects are either not occurring or are manageable. Highly & confidently recommended for Uni students &/or yuppies like me. :) Edit to add - I see several reviews ostensibly complaining that this psychiatrist group treats issues primarily via medications. That's the intended purpose of psychiatrists: to treat neuro-chemical disorders via medicine. They have prescribing power, which is the primary differentiator between psychiatrists & psychologists. Some psychs will do a little of both (meds + therapy), but if you want cognitive-behavioral therapy or other non-medication interventions, you should seek out a counselor or psychologist. Oftentimes the best solution is a combination of both, where a provider like Stanboro maintains your meds & helps to manage side effects while a therapist that you see more regularly for EMDR, CBT, or other therapy methodology helps to identify & work through traumas, behaviors, & other issues in your life. Stay well, friends. Apply for Soonercare or Medicare if you think you may even be close to qualifying. Worst case, you're denied & nothing changes. Best case, you're approved & are now much better able to receive care. Healthcare (& mental healthcare especially) is an abhorrent system in the US, but there are some ways to try and make things more manageable. read more

In the 2-3 years I've been a patient, I've gone thru 7 different therapists. They all keep leaving. One guy, they called him Troxell or Paxil or whatever, actually told me in a session he was leaving because the front office staff sucks so hard. Let me enlighten you. He was correct. In calling today to ask for a refill, I was refused. I was told that I'd have run out 2 months ago anyways so I could wait u til my next appointment... in 20 days. Has anyone ever gone without their meds for 20 days? My former therapist always made sure I had at least a months extra pills. At least. So now that they're used up, Stanbro is actually refusing to do anything other than "send them the message." The thought of going even two days without my meds terrifies me beyond words. I was trying to explain this to the lady on the phone and she hung up on me. THIS DOCTOR'S OFFICE HUNG UP ON ME WHILE I WAS BEGGING FOR A REFILL AND THEY WILL HANG UP ON YOU TOO! So I drove my ass over to confront the coward. Either she's the lady who helped me when I arrived (THAT'S compassion, btw, ya hooker) or the bitch was too scared to show her face, I don't know and I don't care. We have been with our provider at this clinic for years. We love our provider. He is amazing, and we will greatly miss him, but the office staff just hung up on me, so we are done. It doesn't change the fact that you were rude by saying, "Have a nice day." It's still rude to hang up on a client. It is so hard to speak to anyone in the office anyway, because of hold times and what not. It's always been an issue. Also, I am very aware of the Adderall shortage, and would be happy to switch, but give us some time to check with our insurance. Give us a warning more than a week that you WILL NOT (no exceptions) be prescribing it anymore. The office girl I spoke with was absolutely rude. Yes, I was frustrated, too, but be professional. I would give the provider 5 stars, but the office staff 0. Do better. You are in health care. Care for those that need you. read more

You will see a unqualified PA and receive pills. as a Medical provider I started w their website and read about the services offered. after about a 3-4 week wait I received a call back and filled out about 2 hours of important paperwork online at home. this was mandatory before booking the appt. then after 3 months my appt was set. 1 week before my appt they rescheduled. then 3 days before my appt they emailed me saying they NO NOT OFFER THERAPY or COUNSELING only managing pills.. My gut says this place is even worse than my experience so far. We have had a terrible experience with our care since day 1. Our provider Ashley was actually great and had no issues with her, but the office staff and their office policies are awful. Every time we needed prescription refills it would take weeks and my daughter would have to go cold Turkey because they refused to refill her medication. come to find out from the provider, they would never even run it by her before denying us refills and demanded us to schedule apts before getting the refills which would take weeks The provider informed us that she would be leaving the practice and gave us multiple refills on our last prescription to get us through several months. She offered to refer us to a coworker or gave us the option to seek care elsewhere. We asked for our daughters records but had not looked for a new provider immediately because we were told that she had several refills. When I went to call in her refill, the pharmacy said she had none and they denied the request. When I called them about refilling the prescription they said they would not refill it because we'd asked for our records to seek treatment elsewhere. we are now completely out of medication and can't get in to another provider for two months. i have reached out to the manager with no return phone call. This is dangerous and as far as I'm concerned malpractice. read more

patients beware!!! i wish i could put no stars!!! do not go here for your psychiatric needs. shame on you peter stanbro and steven johnson!!! what is the doctors oath you take? at the very least it's not to cause harm!!! youre dealing with people's lives and mental health and all they do is prescribe meds irresponsibility and treat you as a billable resource with disregard for your mental health and well being... at all!!! they had me on 5 different meds...prescribing meds to address the side effects of the previous med and prescribing psychotropic meds due to their side affects rather than their primary purpose (i was prescribed a anti psychotic drug for a sleep disorder i was experiencing) this caused a severe reaction... i wanted to ween off... they didn't honor my desires and continued to prescribe more meds! they're poorly responsive with communication and chicken sh*t puss*s when the waters get a little muddy and the rubber hits the road!!! you're dealing with people's lives and mental health challenges...my challenges can get very dark and steve's reply in the midst of a very difficult time was soooo not caring with complete absence of compassion... i felt hopless...the waters are muddy and comes with the territory!!! man up or get out of this delicate profession!!! stop counting your money and take care of your patients first!!! shame on this facility... shame on you stanbro group!!! read more

Very helpful, I had some trouble with one of the ladies at the front desk but was called back by another helpful lady that got me fixed up.

When I started I had a PA that genuinely cared. She left after 2 months. I was put with Colton. Besides lacking compassion or any real concern I received very little help. Scripts were sent everywhere but the pharmacy I told them. Very irresponsible managing scripts and don't care if you run out. They're the only office I know that has done total Telemed and for this long. It's easier and more profitable for them. Shame on this practice. I filled out a packet at home and emailed photos of it (super convenient). I was contacted within a week for a same-day appointment. I met with a PA, Kelsey, and it was a lovely experience. I am honestly thrilled I gave this place a chance. I read a lot of reviews for providers who accepted my insurance and this was my first choice - I drove 25 minutes just so I could come here. I am excited to continue seeing the medical staff here and I am so happy about how comfortable and easygoing my experience was. read more

The decision making skills by the physician who leads this group are lackluster. There are policy changes that occur without informing patients and then we are left to decipher how to present to encounters and when to be present. Dr. Stanbro acts as if he cares, but the truth is that information goes into one ear and out of the other. I think that is why he takes so long during his appointments and runs behind. He simply does not listen and many things have to be belabored and repeated. Furthermore, there seem to be good staff members and there are equally bad staff members. There is one very pleasant lady at the front desk who is prompt, helpful, engaging, and charismatic. The other lady is one who I would not dare interact with. Every time I enter the building, she is in an odd mood and is usually making another patient angry. Phone calls and prescription refills are torturous and annoying. I find myself using my own skills to answer my questions and if I had the ability to diagnose and prescribe, I would be long gone. Although Dr. Stanbro seems nice and all, his medical advice oftentimes leads me to more drugs and less than expected outcomes. I would like to work on more with less and he just does not listen. I am taking my care elsewhere and hope that I can find a provider who learns more about my situation/condition and will actually listen and involve me in my own care. I am tired of contributing my time and money to a facility that I am surprised stays open. read more

I have been seeing my current doctor for almost two years now and I have never felt better! Everyone is great!

I called about what the office rates were and if they took my insurance. I was told that before anyone would talk to me I would have to fill out new patient paperwork. I said that I wanted more information before I completed the paperwork and I was told "well I can't give you that information if I don't know what the questions are." I then asked if they could check with my insurance about how much is covered (that seems to be something that is very normal anywhere else I have gone, for any practice) and I was told no, I would have to do that myself if I wanted to know how much it would cost. I felt whomever answered the phone was not helpful and honestly was having a bad day. Calling to seek help for a mental condition is already hard enough and then to be spoken to so rudely by someone who is just there to answer the phones and talk to patients makes the experience even harder. I will not recommend Stanbro just based on my phone experience. read more
