Avoid Home Depot for Appliance Installation - A Nightmare Experience!…read more If you're thinking of buying an appliance that requires installation from Home Depot, DON'T DO IT. Their installation contractors have no clue what they're doing, and there is a huge disconnect between the store and the installers. I purchased a fridge from Home Depot and paid for installation and removal of my old fridge. The new fridge was delivered to my home, but my old one was still sitting there because the installers had no idea what they were supposed to do! I spent hours dealing with at least SIX phone calls from the contractor, yet they still couldn't figure out how to complete a basic removal and installation. What should have been a simple process turned into a massive headache. Home Depot's poor coordination and lack of communication turned an easy replacement job into a nightmare. Their customer service was useless and provided no real solutions. At this point, I'm returning the fridge because they clearly can't handle their own installation process. Save yourself the frustration and buy from a retailer that actually knows what they're doing. DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES FROM HOME DEPOT IF YOU NEED INSTALLATION!

This was actually the first hardware store where I encountered this as all the chains, even smaller ones, let you browse. They definitely take the pandemic seriously as on top of the no browsing, they have a very fancy system with a light signal telling you when you can come inside where staff will ask you what you want ring you up and then have someone bring your purchase out to your car. It's a pretty effixient efficient system. They also carry sand topping mix, which is sold out pretty much everywhere else in Vancouver. Prices are competitive, not cheap but not expensive. As an independent business, they have a convenient location in kitsilano that is a good alternative to big box stores. The parking lot is small, but does the job.

I went…read moreto RONA because they used to be Canadian (owned by an investment firm out of New York) I visited the store to purchase paint for doors and trim, as I was looking for better quality paint than what I had. A clerk assisted me by showing me three options, and I chose the mid-range paint priced at $48, as it fit my budget. While the paint was being shaken, I noticed a sign advertising 30% off SICO Endurance, which would have been a better-quality paint at a lower price of $42. I asked the clerk if I could switch to the discounted paint, and she called the manager. To my surprise, the manager refused to allow the switch because tint was added to make it white. I ended up purchasing the original paint because I needed it for my project, but I left the store feeling disappointed and frustrated. This experience has made me reconsider where I shop for my renovation needs. When I got home I sent in a complaint and they offered me 10% off my next purchase. I felt it to be an insult. So I phoned customer service, they offered me a $10 gift card. That at least brought the cost down to the sale price. But I'm still stuck with crappy paint. You would think customer service would be more of a priority during these tense political and economic times.

Absolutely horrible service! It starts off with the confusion, because North Shore Door is actually a division of Woodstop Building Supplies, that is the name you see on your paper work. They are understaffed, so getting a quote takes ages. Once you get the quote, ordering is easy (they want your money after all). Then begins the wait, the products took a long time to arrive and were ordered incorrectly multiple times. Then production is quite slow. On top of that, within about 2 months, I saw them go through at least 4 employee's (something is wrong if you can't hold on to your employee's) which made communicating very difficult as you are always to speaking to someone who is new and doesn't know what they are talking about. John and Mike have at least been there long enough to have answers, if you can ever track them down, but they are absent minded as they are dealing with far too many customers at a time. Belma (who takes payments) is very short tempered on the phone and Anthony (in charge of production) wants nothing more than to hang up on you. Maybe they were frustrated with the fact that I was calling semi-regularily, but I wouldn't have had to if they kept me informed of the status of my order. I never even received a phone call when my items were ready for pick-up! Until North Shore Door can enforce better customer service, learn to keep their employee's and can actually have someone in the office who is available and able to answer questions, I will be steering very clear of this company. Seriously, you've been in business at this location for 5 years, you should have a handle on this by now! PS. Their washroom's are always disgusting as well.
