I arrived on time at 1:45pm for Standing Room Only to turn me away because to many people showed up. This was a waste of time considering where I'm coming from, Standing Room Only needs to train their booking department to pay attention to detail and not over confirm audience, so that they don't waste people's time. This is unprofessional as a company and bad business practices, not taking any consideration for people's time. The corporate department doesn't seem to comprehend and handle matters like this accordingly and have not made any changes, as you see there's more negative comments then positive. The way Standing Room Only operates, shows they don't value the time of others and could care less how this could affect the company. I've had better experiences and have witness the profesional aspect of Onset Productions which is who I would recommend, their staff seems to be interviewed and chosen on what they bring to the company, Standing Room Only has incompetent employees who are just looking for a paycheck with very little training on what it is their job title is. Production companies need to take this into consideration and possibly not do business with Standing Room Only so that they go out if business and a more intelligent company with core values can do what SRO can't seem to get right. read more

Sometimes they make you sit for hours won't let you have food or water, and not not use the restroom, even when it is an emergency. People haven been known to wet their pants. Some of the practices are illegal under California labor codes, they somehow they get away with it. STRIKE 1 They do bull$#!+ things like overbook their shows then not pay some people who show up, give people wrong directions, or tell people they are booked, yet say their name is not on the list when they show up. I got a confirmation email saying I was booked. When I showed up, my name wasn't on the list. They sent me to the back of the spec line like I wasn't officially booked. What BS. STRIKE 2 The shows SRO works with always NEVER allow audiences to bring their cellphones with them into the studio, yet SRO aren't even thoughtful enough to hold your phone for you, which is what other audience casting companies will do. This is EXTREMELY inconvenient, since #1, you can't look for or book other jobs when you don't have your phone, & #2 if you take public transportation, you'll have absolutely nowhere to leave your phone. NOT worth the hassle STRIKE 3 There's always NO PARKING at all for any of the shows at any studios. You have to fight for street parking, get there super early to find a spot, or park blocks & blocks away. Plus you have to deal with street sweeping, restricted parking times and other LA parking nightmares. People commonly get parking tickets while working on SRO shows, which means you basically worked for nothing. It sometimes takes forever to park, and if you are even one minute late, they will turn you away at check in. Again, not worth it. STRIKE 4, That's now over 3 strikes. They turn people away for wearing the "wrong" wardrobe. I got turned away once for wearing nice slip-on dress shoes. The coordinator told me I was wearing sneakers (which I wasn't), & my shoes weren't allowed. WTF? NOBODIES shoes are ever on camera in the 1st place. This same coordinator I saw sitting in the audience on another show dressed in jeans & a hoodie, when on the info lines, they specifically told us to dress in business casual attire, with NO DENIM. So SRO coordinators are allowed to break their own rules? How Ghetto. STRIKE 5, that's now 0 stars. The lady who works in the office is a total b!+c#, who is rude, unprofessional, and arrogant black woman. She always changes her name when she calls you, some days she'll be Kimberly, Joe, Jessica, Amber, etc. She is bipolar & on her period 24/7. STRIKE 6, now -1 Stars If the company wasn't bad enough, The people who do audience work for SRO are weird, ghetto, have no manners, steal things, or smell bad. They have no real jobs & are desperate for money. Many of them are illegal, don't have social security numbers, or are collecting unemployment or welfare & are only doing this job because they don't have to report the earnings to the government. Once I had to sit next to someone who smelled SO BAD or almost 8 hours. Some of them will even try to preach Jesus to you. STRIKE 7, now -2 stars. If that wasn't enough the crappy pay is not even worth your time. The $16, $24, or $32 you might get is not worth it, not worth the gas, not worth the parking hassle, not worth starving to death, and not worth wasting your life there. This agency I really bad! Simply bad! They pay cash and no paperwork meaning they're dodging taxes. They pay minimum and make you wait in loooong line to check out, but, that wait time is never paid! I have been working with SRO for 2- years on and off. I saw some of these reviews and had to chime in. Working with them is a good experience if you submit yourself appropriately, call the hotline and follow all of the directions, arrive on time dressed as instructed and without your phone, and don't get worked up about small changes which can happen. BTW, being polite to the coordinators is a no-brainer. ""Good morning," "Please," and "Thank you" are so simple. I have seen a few negatives here, and all I can surmise is they were written by folks who treat this as their main job and/or think they're a TV star. I once witnessed someone scream at a coordinator for not getting in, "This is my bread and butter!" I counter that if audience work is your only job, the problem isn't SRO...it's you. LIkewise, whomever insulted the booking agent is absolutely wrong, bordering on libelous. The person I know who does the booking is professional, responsive, fair, and and an all-around decent person. She has to answer to the demographic of the production. If "favorites" are played, it's only because they may favor people with a history of showing up...and doing so per the instructions who are pleasant to deal with. Wouldn't you do the same? I recommend SRO as a way to see some shows, still have part of the day open, have some fun, and do a small job. I think a lot of people learn the hard way that this company works with production companies that are super sketchy. Hopefully this review will prevent someone from getting screwed out of money that they earned. I worked an audience gig that went longer than planned. The production didn't pay meal penalties or overtime to anybody. SRO likes to tell talent that they are independent contractors and therefore not subject to meal penalties/overtime. This is not true. I actually contacted the IRS about my specific gig and filed a claim. To my surprise, I heard back from them. They agreed that when you work as an audience member you are supposed to be treated as an employee. (There's a way that they determine this that I'm happy to go into detail about if you want to message me on here.) However, if I wanted to see any of the money that I was owed, I had to go after the production company through the department of labor. Since I was paid in cash through SRO, I didn't know the name of the production company that shot the show. I contacted SRO for that information, and they refused to help me. SRO and the productions that hire them have no interest in treating people fairly. I felt vindicated when the letter from the IRS told me that these production companies are likely violating law. Like a lot of people who do audience gigs, I did it for the extra cash to supplement my income. However, it really wasn't worth it. I hope if you're reading this you think twice about signing up with Standing Room Only. read more

I've only been working with SRO for a few weeks now but these reviews are appalling. I wonder what kind of entitled whiners wrote them, but I digress. This is literally the easiest money you will ever make in Los Angeles. There is no fee. You need no experience. There is no interview process and you never submit a resume. You just apply to as many shows as you can, get booked for some of them, and get paid cold hard cash immediately after a day's end. For doing what, you ask? For sitting. For clapping. For moving when they need you to move. For possibly being on television. For seeing celebrities in the flesh. For sometimes even getting prizes as audience members (a luxury I have not experienced yet.) What more could you possibly want? I could be working my ass off in fast food getting paid the same amount, but instead they are PAYING ME TO SIT. Come on. I have never had a problem with any of the SRO coordinators. They aren't overly cheerful or anything but no one has been the least bit rude to me. You barely even talk with them, actually--all of the information is given through an automated hotline. Fine with me. The clothing requirements they give sound ridiculous, but as long as you don't wear jeans or sneakers they'll let you in. The only downsides: The shows can often be boring and long, and sometimes you do not get to be in the audience at all and have to go home. But, that's just showbiz. The major downside is that you're not allowed to have a cell phone. I understand they don't want people texting on air but they could at least let us have them while we sit in holding rooms. Or for emergencies. Plus, I see show crews with their phones out all of the time. Also, on many shows it is difficult and stressful to find street parking. I once got ticketed, and ended my day losing money. My final complaint is how long it takes to get paid. But again, it's all about PATIENCE. An incredible virtue to have in showbiz. Still, they can afford to make some changes, so I've given them 3 stars. read more

Hey Ya'll - we have been Members and SRO event supporters since summer of 2012, my hubs and I work our own hours for a State Funded Energy Program, and we are not guaranteed a paycheck every two weeks- this is where SRO comes in as our blessing in disguise...., Marquitha, Rob, Ricki, Jo, Adrienne, Stream, to name a few, are all very professional team leaders when it comes to controlling, "the Audience Crowd," they pay cash, and are very straight forward when it comes to choosing the Best Audience Members ahead of time for any given show in L.A, they are fast, agile, take no moods from people expecting more for such a great gig as it is... and are friendly and know each of the members by name, so you know you will expect a great welcome into every show, good seating arrangements, and they will give Positive Critics and or Encouraging Comments when it comes to asking people what they need to dress as to impress for next time... .... I mean it is t.v ...we should know by Now... I like the fact that the process in any given show is a routine, they are experienced to a point that there is no waiting in line or them forgetting your name on the booked list. Never had a disappointing evening with SRO.. SRO is great if you are looking to earn extra cash. You get paid at the end of the day for simply watching a show that is being filmed :) i had a great experience with them! Attending studio audiences may even open doors for you as an actor, i originally arrived to be apart of the audience and one of their crew members approached me to be an actress on the show! Of course i took the opportunity and even got paid a little bit more at the end of the day. The Crew was very nice. I couldn't help but notice all of the bad reviews and let me just say that if you come to the casting dressed the part even as a "Spec" you will get picked. They are looking for people who look their best and have good attitudes. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to be around the entertainment industry, its easy but time consuming be prepared for schedules to run behind, Sometimes sets run longer than expected so bring snacks if you can. read more

Horrible organization. Rude staff. Unprofessional. Woke up at 7am to drive to Pomona for a casting call for 9am. Got there around 845am had to park & find SRO coordinator. Found the lady at 9:01am & was sent away with no pay for "showing up after call time". Completely ridiculous considering how far I drove for this casting but of course, they don't care. Not the first time I've had a horrible experience with them, coincidentally with the same staff member that's always there when I have an issue or didn't want to pay me after I stayed for an entire show because I didn't check in with the right person. There has to be a law against how they coordinate these events & keep ppl waiting for hours after events & don't pay for that time. Or have ppl driving an hour away & turn them away for any reason. This company made me go all the way to Universal Studios, which is fine.. however it took me a good seven minutes to find parking in the designated parking structure as it was completely full. After finding parking, I raced outside to find someone to direct me where to go for this one particular show. Once I received instructions, I raced there and was greeted by a security personnel who further assisted me. After Finally making it to the SRO coordinators, I was advised rudely they would no longer be taking people as it was past call time which was for 12pm. The time? 12:03. I just laughed, shook my head and walked off. Wasn't worth the energy. Some people get the smallest amount of power and go crazy lol. Really disappointed in this company. read more

This company is so annoying first of all they encourage you to come if you aren't booked (to spec) just in case they need to use you, but they always over book and never have enough room to bring extra people onto the show. Not to mention they just randomly stop booking you for no reason. I have not been booked all week. I spoke with one of the coordinators who said he would book me for a show and nothing!!! it's so frustrating. Just be honest with your intentions. If you know you booked too many people let the speculators know before they show up and wait in line for hours just to be told "sorry we don't need anyone" and don't promise to book people when you have no intention of doing so. I've been booked by Standing Room Only aka "SRO" for almost a year now as an audience member in the Los Angeles and greater Los Angeles areas (by choice). And since January 2013, I've experienced some positive SRO changes onsite, in choice of shows and on their tech side. For example, onsite during their court shows they now offer more choices of chocolates and candies and there's always plenty of water (believe it or not, this is a commodity). In addition, their checkout process has become more streamlined by breaking down checkout into multiple letter groups. Imagine a game show where there are literally 200-400 people trying to checkout at once! Whew. But by far, my favorite advancement is the user friendly website where not only can you apply to be an audience member, important show info is posted for reference as well. I peruse the options and apply according to my taste is shows (game show, sitcom, or talk show), possible working hours, start-times, etc. There is no registration fee and no charge to upload profile pictures. All in all, I feel the audience is an especially important element in television and SRO makes it easy for everyone to participate. I highly recommend SRO if you're ready to see some stars up-close, clap, smile, laugh and get real face-2-face experiences into the glamorous world of Hollywood :D But remember, be patient onset because it takes time to make a great show happen. read more

I was booked for SRO: Beat Shazam. After applying, I received a email confirmation with the booking information. I took pubic transportation from Long Beach to CBS Studios which is a 2 hour commute just to be denied entry to a show I was already booked to get paid for. I even arrived early on time 10am sharp. As I was walking up, one of the SRO employees who was very rude and disrespectful told me I couldn't attend the show because of how I was dressed. He stated wasn't in dress code. He then stated, that I wait in line to be added as an extra if he needed me. There was a separate line for audience members who were out of "dress code." I explained to the SRO employees that the dress code wasn't clear and that it was my first time attending a SRO and that I commuted 2 hours from Long Beach but he seemed not to care. Then he told me to go stand in line with the other audience members that were out of dress code. I stood in the line where other members weren't in dress code. Then shortly after he explained to everybody in line that today he will make an exception for everybody that wasn't in dress code to attend the show and then when he got to me he singled me out and said I can't attend the show because of my dress code. He let in about 20 people who were out of dress code and told me I couldn't attend the show. I'm suing for discrimination, wasting my time, pain and suffering. SRO staff was very rude and disrespectful and they wasted my time. read more

I have a full-time job so I typically can't attend these tapings, so this was my first taping I attended under SRO, my first one was under On-Set Productions the day prior. I wanted to start attending these tapings so I could use the money that I would earn to donate to charity and since I am a volunteer Speech Coach for Special Olympics I figured it would be a good way to give back! I was one of the first ones to arrive today and I arrived 30 minutes prior to the call-time and it was very unfortunate that they overbooked. What I didn't know is that not everyone is guaranteed in even though you have confirmed you are attending and since I needed to go to the restroom before the taping started, I lost my spot in line and I didn't want to cut in line like everyone else did so I went in the back of the line since that would be the polite thing to do. Little did I know, not everyone that is booked is guaranteed in. There was about 10-12 of us who were let go even before the taping started. Mind you, some of the people that didn't get in also arrived early. Note: Some of the workers are not very friendly and give attitude, while some are nice and seemed to like their job. This is a great website to earn fast cash. It is reliable! I truly recommend if you want to make cash. The only problem i have is that they don't allow your phones or they won't hold your phone. So if you are taking the bus or lyft or uber, you are left stranded. The shows vary on what time you get out, they don't have an exact time on when you are getting out. At times they can be unorganized and a little unapproachable. But the shows are extremely fun, you just need to have a lot of patience and have fun energy. I've been working with SRO on and off for the last 4 and a half years and I usually never have any problems getting into the shows or with the coordinators, but today was my second particularly bad experience with a male coordinator, (black male with beard), who I had a problem with once before. I showed up to a show which I have done maybe 8 times before wearing the usual outfit that I wear to that show. I haven't had any problems getting in before with other coordinators, but today he decided to pick at me and tell me I can't be let in with what I'm wearing. I told him I wear this every time I come, and he said it wasn't going to cut it and looked at me like I was a chicken with no head, not bright enough. Then, right behind me a girl comes up with the exact same color top on as me and he checks her in. What?!?! This man seems to be on a power trip, and even though I had another change of clothing in my car, I was not going to change and get back in line like some fool looking for his approval, so I just left even though I was there a half hour before my call time. They should really get rid of this guy. The way he talks to people is like he has no consideration for their time or effort that they put in to come out to these shows. Like I said, this is my second bad experience with him. The first time, I was waiting in line to be let in to a show after I showed up on time, and some person who had been late and waiting in a different line came and starting complaining that it wasn't his fault so the coordinator let him in instead of me, and he was the last person to be taken in and I got turned away. BTS is the best although they mostly pay you by check, otherwise they are really nice and considerate. They're was one time where a crew member had an attitude with me, but she quickly came up to me and apologized, explaining to me she was stressed with checking in so many people at once (and it was a lot going on for one person). Horrible company to work for. The coordinators treat you like children and are very disrespectful. They need to learn how to talk to other adults. And get re trained as coordinators especially ANDREW. And a couple others. Most times they unfairly pick and choose who they want from the people who are lined up booked and not booked based apon their own bias and selfish judgements. So even if youve been waiting an hour they may take some one whos late and you dont get in booked or not, just because they dont like you or think you dont look as appealing to them and this is NOT based apon company standards im talking about they make it personal even if the people are dressed perfectly it dosent matter, they have no respect at all and they need to go back read, learn and study the definition of respecting others. and its ridiculous people are there to make money and see a show, not be treated like we're in middle school and its a poularity contest. Every one here is 21 and up and needs to be treated and spoken to with respect. Coordinators YOU signed up for the job so if you cant do it correctly and handle your job and yourself correctly with respect and grace go find another job. I have done this 5 times. My last experience today was horrible. I wore the same outfit I always wear. I had nice black j crew dress pants on, black closed toe shoes and a black and grey sweater. As I approached the line the man working assumed I wasn't with SRO and just pointed and said that line. I replied "I'm with SRO for the taping at 1pm" he rudely looked at me , chuckled and said did you confirm and check in online. I did all the steps I was supposed to since this wasn't my first rodeo. He said you obviously didn't call the number cause you have a patterned shirt on. Mind you I actually called and listened to the recording 4 times. He stated that my shirt was patterned and it was not. It was solid black and grey. Hence the recording said no all black or patterns. I also explained that I've worn this before to multiple tapings and never had a problem he rudely interrupted me. My friend and I ended up just leaving, we drove all the way out and paid for parking. Funny how everyone else in line didn't follow the dress rules and looked like complete slobs. I wish I got this guys name. read more

I recently joined this company to supplement my income & today I was booked to work on a sitcom and arrived about 5 mins before my call time. They didn't mention, there was going to be a hoard of people entering the parking lot at the same time for literally EVERY show that films there or that finding parking was going to be an adventure. I finally parked my car and went down to check in and security said I can't take my cell phone inside the studio and forced me to return it to my car. All this caused me to get in front of the audience coordinator 15 min. Past my "call time." And I was turned away despite explaining to them what happened. She kept insisting there message says no cell phones but it DOESN'T. It says no" Food, Drink, Reading material, Large bags, and backpacks" are allowed on the studio lot. Anyway, I was turned away with no pay and I wasted my time, gas money and passed up on other job opportunities because according to their lies, I was "confirmed" to work today. How does my spot disappear 15 mins. After my call time anyway? I'll NEVER work with SRO again and I don't recommend you do either. read more
