This was in April of 2025. Matt was only on site once in a while. He had a person hanging drywall and two young men painting. The drywaller missed a few spots in replacing where drywall had been removed. The painters got paint on the ceiling as well as painting over the outlets. We had provided partial payments when requested. He needed supplies and had to pay his workers. The week lasted weeks. There were times we had no idea if and/or when he would show up. We had heard several times that if we could let him work late, he thought he could get done. Finally, my wife and agreed that there would be no more chances to finish. Matt told us that if he worked late, he would be finished and requested final payment. We told him he could work late but we were not able to make payment at that time (before completion). My wife told me he was working until at least 1am. In the morning, we found his vehicle abandoned in our drive. I checked the basement and did not find him in the house so assumed his vehicle was disabled and he had gotten a ride. I later received a text from Matt stating he was still at the house (slept in his truck because he couldn't get it started) and wanted to use our bathroom and do some more work. My wife and I were both at work and were not able to respond. Upon arrival back at home, the truck was gone and I started looking at the finished project. It was HORRIBLE. The stained floor was nasty. Floor stain was found on the wall, on a blind on tile flooring. Paint on the ceiling and trim. The trim was the wrong color and the outlets had paint dried in the plugs. We also found that the window treatments that had been taken down were broken in half. Matt returned to the house and I advised him that we were going to go with another contractor. All the insurance funds had been paid to Matt and we were paying out of pocket. We did give Matt another $1000 to be done with. He asked for more money stating he needed the funds for another job site. Matt had poured concrete steps outside the back door. The steps were not level or even the same size. We then had another contractor come in and the job costed so much more because they had to fix all the issues he created. Fast forward to March. We are finally getting the steps removed and replaced when I discover that Matt had disassembled a portion of the fence (with my knowledge and blessing) but only zip tied the fence back in place.

The painters noticed some mold and water damage near a few of the walls. I called Ohio Basement Authority and Jordan came out the next day. Having a finished basement makes figuring out if there is water coming in tough, but he walked me through the possibilities, and how we could remedy each one. Not being used to having a basement (I historically lived in *much* drier climates!), I really appreciated the thoughtfulness and attention to detail that he showed in walking me through the different situations. I decided to go with the interior waterproofing. I was scheduled to have my new flooring installed a day later, so the speediness that Jordan came out literally saved me thousands of dollars (and the time of having another floor installed!). Thanks OBA!

It took 3 crews and 5 days. On day 1 they jackhammered the perimeter and laid half the drain tile and left at 2:00 for a family emergency. I checked the progress and found that the weep holes that were supposed to be drilled on every block had not been drilled at all. Day 2, no show. Day 3 crew 2 (different people), they removed the previous laid tile to drill the weep holes Day 4, no show Day 5, crew 3 (different people) they finished the job The worst part of it all is that the plastic barrier hung to keep the cement dust from an adjacent room had fallen, and they did not bother to put it back up. The entire room and all It contained were covered with a thick coat of cement dust. Everything must be wiped off, and all the shelving must be taken outside and hosed off costing thousands of dollars. After hiring a 3rd party to clean up the mess, the reimbursement was slow and was only a fraction of the estimate.
