My family & I are in the emotional process of choosing the right hospice for my grandfather. We are…read moremeeting with a hospice appointed my Medicaid tomorrow morning. I was able o get in touch with the sweetest, most comforting & knowledgeable on-call hospice nurse I've ever come across at 10:30pm! Her name, I think, was Sonia. As comforting as our conversation was it was also educational. She reassured me that picking a hospice is like buying a car. If you don't like it you move on to the next until you find one to suit your needs. She empowered me & encouraged me--SO wasn't expecting it to be such an uplifting call. I can tell with this short encounter that my grandfather will be in the hands of some amazing & smart angel nurses & loving care I doubt I could find anywhere else. My grandpa also is not English speaking & she told me they have some nurses available that do speak our language & are familiar with our culture. I wish she could be my personal nurse every day to speak encouraging things to me every day! We haven't even entered with their program & I love it it already. Before searching anywhere else for hospice--coming from an anxious & worried granddaughter-- please give Comfort Hospice a call first. They literally answer your call at ungodly hours like I called & they don't even mind.

They expedited paperwork and got him comfortable immediately. They offered counseling and a volunteer to watch him so that my mom could have some respite. It was a peaceful death and I thank them for their kindness to my family. I wish I could have been there but I know she was in good hands.

Hi have been a client/patient at Kaiser for over 20 years. I used to love Kaiser, but boy have…read morethey gone downhill. I'm not looking forward to shopping for health insurance this coming fall. But looks like it's time to move to a better medical situation... The issues begin with just trying to make an appointment. Recently, I was referred to a gastroenterologist. I go to the "schedule an appointment" page and there are zero appointments available. I tried the rest of March and the entirety of April AND May. there was not a single appointment available. I write to my doctor's office and say, "hey look, I am not able to schedule an appointment through the website. Can you tell me where to call, or have them call me?" NO REPLY. So now here I sit, super-duper looking forward to my upcoming sashay through Kaiser's perpetually-broken automated answering service. Yes, the one where the system cannot understand my birthday whether i use my voice or keypad to enter it. **UPDATED TO ADD: i called Kaiser after writing this to make an appointment by phone. THERE WERE NO APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE. So at this time, I am unable to get the care recommended by my doctor. I'm also not happy with how my coverage changed once I retired. Suddenly, everything costs more. why??? i've been paying into this system for so long I should be a stockholder. Now that i've retired, the prices have skyrocketed. Thanks for that. Then I get a bill for over $1700. I was unable to set up a payment plan, so a Kaiser person went into the system and set the payments up for me. The following month, the payment schedule was still not working and I ended up paying the whole chunk at once. Excuse me, but that is a LOT of money for anybody to come up with. I also realized a while ago that my primary care physician is more of a conduit to other doctors, or to lab tests rather than somebody who actually knows what is happening in my body. Also, when I go in, or make an appointment...well, the appointments are SHORT (20 minutes) so I have to be very clear about which single issue i want to tackle at that time. Then make another appointment if there is an additional issue that needs to be addressed. Maybe this works for most people, but I believe my issues are related, so this kind of piecemeal approach to health care really doesn't work.

I have enjoyed most of Kaiser. They clearly have some information issues. I was late today. By the…read moretime i got it figured out and checked in, I was 18 minutes late. I checked in and was told where to go and wait. 82 minutes later. I find out that I had actually missed my appointment and the nurses were never going to call my name. My question is: Why was none of this information given out? I didn't know that being late would cancel my appointment. How many people hang out in the waiting room for hours? Isn't anyone paying attention to who's in the waiting area? Sad. We wasted hours sitting here. They are getting me back into rotation but I have to wait. More. Communication People. You work here and know the program. I am new to health care. ..................................... I just talked with nurse. When your late to an appointment. They will close your file after 15 - 20 minutes. To prevent this from happening. The Patient Coordinator is supposed to let the nurse know the patient has checked in late. That is to prevent what happened to me. If the the front does not let the nurse know the patient is late and they really have no way of knowing otherwise. The nurse will clear your file from the computer screen after about 30 minutes. Then your truly waisting your time because no one is looking for you. So If your late. And it's been about 45 minutes. Go check with the nurses and see if they even know your there. May save you time
