I've been using Stanley Steemer Queens location for years to clean my carpets each spring and have always trusted the process -- until this June. On 6/11, I had the living room, hallway, and dining area cleaned. Shortly after the crew left, we discovered that a valuable and deeply personal item -- hidden in a secure pocket in my husband's chair -- was missing. We live in a small one-bedroom with a cat, and no one else had access to our home before or after. The team had asked me to wait outside while they worked. I also found it odd that they suggested I pay by check rather than credit card. Now we're left with no item, no way to trace the loss, and no sense of closure. This is the WORST business my family has ever dealt with. First, on Friday, we had arranged for Stanley Steemer to come clean our carpets. The technicians they sent were high and quoting us different prices, then yelling that he wants to quit this job; we had to ask them to leave. They came again on Monday, this time to clean out our air duct and dryer. In this process, they broke our shelf - ripping it out of the wall - and broke buttons off of the dryer (which they can't seem to find). They came back the next day and wouldn't take responsibility for the broken buttons and now we're stuck with a broken dryer and broken shelf and them not taking responsibility. Called Stanley Steemer to clean my dryer vents and my dryer as well as my air ducts. They seemed nice and courteous. After they left, one vent fell out of my ceiling, they left debris everywhere and I have a 1 year old. To make matters worse, my dryer was making a horrible noise and not drying my clothes. I called them to come back and fix it. They didn't return my call for 5 days and I had to fight with them to get a date for someone to come to my house and fix it. They blamed everything on hurricane Ida. Told me I was wrong for wanting my dryer that they broke fixed while they were dealing new customers with water damage. They broke my dryer before the hurricane.... Needless to say, I won't be using them again mostly because of how I was treated and spoken to. Two very young (20-21)technicians, a male and female were sent to my home, eyeballed me with a look of disgust and said "Are YOU the homeowner?" Very disrespectful. They complained about the lousy pay, long hours and grunt work they were doing. The forced open my French doors and broke the locks and chipped the door while I was in the bathroom. Do not take your eyes off any technician Stanley Steamer sends if you are dumb enough to use this service. Had a bunch of services done to my home over the weekend and was very happy with the customer service I received, as well as the actual work at a reasonable price. Price: (without tax or tip) Tipping optional but appreciated :) ~$120.00 for 2 rooms and 1 staircase ~$289.00 for vent cleaning ~$99.95 for sofa cleaning (based on footage, mine was 8') ~$99.95 for tile and grout cleaning~ Customer Service: I was really impressed by the service I received from beginning to end. My initial phone call was very professional and the woman who helped me stayed on the phone with me for over 20min telling me about services and what the process would entail. I was able to make an appointment immediately and was pleased with the ease of the transaction. Because I had duct work done and steaming done, 2 crews were dispatched separately. Both were very professional and got the job done quickly and effectively. Being Christmas time, I had my tree up and presents everywhere, both crews made each crewmember verbally aware throughout the whole process making sure not to disrupt anything. I heard many times "Come guide me so we don't touch the tree", "Be careful of the tree" "You're too close to the tree" etc...At one point, the steamer crew was doing my steps which was adjacent to the tree, and the one man actually used a towel to shield my tree from the steam. I was very impressed with their attention to detail and willingness to keep the place in tip top shape. Results: Steam cleaners: (rugs, sofa, and tile) Seeing as how I only wanted the house cleaned to get rid of deep seeded germs, there were not many stains or things that needed to get remedied for a noticeable difference. That being said, I do have 2 cats and foster many animals so there is a fair amount of hair and dander in the rug. All of that was gone after the steam cleaning. The men went through every crevice of the rug, moved my bed and other furniture around, and put everything back where it belonged. I watched them do the same to my sofa, doing every pillow and every inch of the cloth. The grout and tile were also cleaned nicely. The grout went from a pale yellow/brown to a nice vibrant cream/white. In the process they would clean as they went and made sure not to leave any mess. Dryer Vents: Tip: Don't do your vents in the winter if you can avoid it, or unless you have a large house where you can go into another area. The hose they use is quite large and they need to have your door open as well as shut down the heat. The crew that came out were very efficient and polite. They explained the process to me, made sure my animals were safe during the process, and did the whole process in about an hour or so. They even went above and beyond and took some of the vent grates out to clean them up or me. I initially also asked for them to clean my dryer vents. Upon inspection, I was told it wouldn't be worth it for them to do mine b/c it wasn't hooked up right/safely. I really appreciated they saved me the money. They could have said they did it, and I would have been none the wiser. Honesty and integrity goes a long way and their company should be proud of both crews. Bottom line: Highly recommended Things to know: *tips optional but they work hard so throw them a little something *Ask the men if they could use a bottle of water. They work hard and are people too. I live in Staten Island and have been a Stanley steamer customer for decades. I ALWAYS get the EXACT SAME rooms cleaned every year. I wasn't really ready to get them cleaned but the representative from the company constantly called us to schedule an appointment. We finally agreed and my husband told them repeatedly "we want EXACTLY the same rooms we ALWAYS GET. The woman confirmed this over the phone. They came to do the job but when the very last room was to be cleaned the technician told me he did NOT have that room listed on his iPad. We explained the prior phone conversations.......This is when he became EXTREMELY aggravated and confrontational. Letting us know he never makes mistakes and how he knows his job. I produced 11 previous receipts to prove I always get the exact same job. People warned me that they would quote me one price on the phone and then increase the price when they get to you. That's exactly what happened and then they lied about the quote they gave me over the phone. I took lots of notes during that call so I know exactly what was said. They would not honor a coupon, saying it only applied to wall-to wall carpeting, even though the coupon never stated that, nor did they verbally state that to me on the call when I told them I had that coupon.
