To say I'm upset is putting it mildly. I was downright appalled when I visited my late husband's grave. My solar light, solar powered hot air balloon, and flowers were all stolen from the marker. When I called the cemetery to question them, they told me a group of teenagers 'cleaned them out'. I'm still not sure if the teenagers were hired or they just came through and took what they wanted. Either way, they had no right to take anything from the marker. This is MY property and if I find out who took MY stuff, I will press charges! It doesn't get any lower than this for these so-called human beings. The Cemetery people said they were responsible, which they are and that these teenagers were assigned to clean up the trashy looking stuff which is all well and fine. I assure you, however, my husband's marker has NEVER been trashy looking. I, and or my granddaughter visit it frequently and refurbish it with flowers / decorations. They said some of the stuff had been recouped and may be in the yards manager's shed. I want my stuff back and I want it back now! I want to start off by saying that thank you to Ms. Candy for being so kind and understanding when my mother's granddaughter and I called her. Although, someone else had contacted Ms. Candy and pretended to be me once things were explained Ms. Candy made her priority to only give information to the myself and my mother's granddaughter. Ms. Katie was exceptionally kind and professional as well when I called in. Apon dealing with a very difficult and miserable and very unprofessional person at the Kelsey's funeral home where my mother's body was lying in state. I received a phone call from Mr. John who called me to informed me that this person called him to confirm a time and date to bury my mother but never mentioning me since I am the daughter, so he did ask the question had I been informed of this and the person told them that I had signed my mother's body over to the state which Mr. John felt that this was a red flag so he informed this person that he was going to call me first before he would proceed with a date. I am so glad that he did, Mr. John and the staff there were on their game when it came to professionalism and made sure that things were handled correctly and decently. I had to tell him one that I didn't know anything about this because this person hadn't said anything if anything she had been extremely difficult to deal with and my niece and had lost all confidence and creditably due to her unprofessionalism and rudeness. Also, having to tell him that I never signed any documents nor gave her any permissions to have my mother's body release from myself and my mother's granddaughter. It was appalling and devastating to get this news, but I was eternally grateful for Mr. John calling me and bringing it to my attention. Mr. John was kind enough to handle everything moving forward and my mother was finally laid to rest where she wanted to be beside her husband in the plot that she had paid for decades ago in the rose-colored vault. I want to thank Mr. John for being courteous and professional and I want to thank Stanly Gardens Memorial for being the kind towards me and my mother's granddaughter and making sure my mother was buried with dignity in such a beautiful way. The value of what my mother and stepfather paid for decades ago was well worth it and now they both will be in a beautiful peaceful place that is kept up and maintained all year round. Stanly Gardens is a perpetual care cemetery in Albemarle, North Carolina. The cemetery offers the usual burial and cremation services. There is very little information online, so I'm a little stuck. The cemetery is quite well cared for. There is no little and no overgrowth, though a few of the paved lanes through the park could use some pothole attention. Nothing that you can't drive around though. There is a dedicated area for veterans and they do offer appropriate funeral honors.
