By the time I got there at 12:30pm, there was a long line formed at this truck even though there were at least 6 other food trucks lined up. They have all of the options available carefully described and detailed so you know exactly what you are getting. I love that. I hate walking up to a food truck and having to ask questions while there are people behind me waiting. I quickly studied their menu and opted for a Cachapa wit roast pork. A Cachapa is made of sweet corn mean. Thing a soft taco shell but thicker. I've never had one before and after taking my first bite I knew I had died and went to corn heaven. Everything about this was perfect. The flavorful roasted pork wrapped in the sweet corn Cachapa with cheese and lettuce and tomato is one of the best meals I've had from a food truck. I have tried dozens of halal food trucks around the city, and while many seem to be a bit similar in taste, this place is a notch above the rest (with the exception of the halal guys on 53rd and 6th, which is equally as good). The food is cheap ($5 for a plate over rice, $4 for a gyro) and beyond filling. Make sure to ask for the "spicy rice" which is leagues beyond the standard halal cart yellow rice, as well as chopped up pita on top. If you know what's good for you, get the lamb gyro with hot sauce. It changed my life. Forever. The guys working the truck are very friendly, and always easy to talk to and joke with - but they work hard and make great food. The truck is at 139th and Broadway Mon-Sat until 4 AM - making this my go-to spot for late night food in the area. The greatest regret of my life is that I am moving to Brooklyn, and will no longer be able to frequent this truck. It's too late for me, but it's not yet too late for you. So, go now. Roosevelt Ave is a food goldmine, and you will find many trucks in these parts selling tacos and all kinds of other goodies. La Jefa isn't the best one I've had, but the tacos and Gorditas and such, aren't bad. Pretty good, juicy meat, and well worth a try. They've been here quite a few years, open very late at night. Tia Rosa's tacos are Mexican street food style - double corn tortilla with meat, diced onions and cilantro, your choice of sauce(s), and lime and radish slices on the side - just the way I like 'em. There aren't as many meat options as I've seen at other taco trucks. You pretty much only have the choices of carnitas, pollo, bistec, lengua, and chorizo, but that's fine by me since lengua tacos are my favorite and Tia Rosa's are legit. Each taco will cost you $2.50, which is 50 cents more than what the famous El Rey del Taco truck at 30th Ave charges but hardly anything to complain about. Plus, extras like pico de gallo and guac are free. If tacos aren't your thang, the "más" at Tia Rosa's is burritos, quesadillas, tortas, and cemitas. I still haven't quite figured out their schedule. When I asked, they said that they're at their spot every day at 5pm until late but they don't seem to always operate on this schedule. I suppose the devastation of realizing the truck isn't there while on the way home from a night of partying is somewhat balanced by the joy of seeing the truck round the corner on the way to their spot just as I'm pondering what to eat for dinner. (Yes, both of these things have happened to me.) N-train Astorians should stick to El Rey, but R/M-train Astorians rejoice! We now have a taco truck to call our own.

He and his mom are Mexican and they make their own red AND green salsa! He usually has a nice variety of meats including carne asada (steak), carnitas (pork) and chorizo (spicy sausage) and pollo (chicken). I've had their tacos twice now and the meat is moist with just a little salsa, cilantro, onion and little radish. Simple with big portions on not one, but two tortillas, just as it should be.
