Early the next day Manuel and Raul made quick work of installing the metal panels and by midday, Raul was at the door saying "Mr. Vogler the fence job is complete and would you please check the work to see if everything meets your approval", which it did! Lots of back and forth about marking the water lines that run under the fence line between the meter and the house. I didn't want the project to start until those lines were marked and Rudy didn't care. Rudy told me installation could begin because he had clearance from the Tucson Water Department. But it turns out that the city only clears the line running to the meter, not the lines from the meter to the house. I found out, after calling 811 (Before You Dig), that the lines to the house are considered private and that I needed to hire a private contractor to locate the lines, which I did. Despite the lines having been marked, the crew broke one the first day on the job. Rudy told me it was an irrigation line (happens all the time according to him). After several unsuccessful attempts to fix the "irrigation line", a plumber was called hours later to fix the broken water line. All in all an extremely unpleasant experience with a happy ending -- a very nice fence.

Due to all roofers being busy this monsoon season, I did not get the new repair done until today, 2 August 2018. I was told by my new licensed and bonded company that the previous job was done poorly. They thought I had a handyman do it that had no roofing experience. They also found a large heavy duty garbage bag full of roof debris still on the roof in a hidden alcove that was not visible from the ground. This is a long horror story and I can provide more details. I am not very happy about this. It was just now in the last 30 minutes I was able to find the $700 debit in my check book which identified Whetstone Construction as the firm that did that sloppy work. Had I known this before I would have contacted Whetstone to correct their mistakes.

So I requested my drawings back and went elsewhere. If they weren't going to provide me a timely quote, they should have called me as my phone number was clearly indicated on my drawings. Basically they wasted 3 weeks of my time, and I believe they couldn't care less since they did not apologize for sitting on my quote.
