It's a reasonably large cattery (space for 20+ kitty enclosures and each one can be shared by 2-3 cats if you have cats which don't mind sharing). The spaces for the cats are larger than at a few other catteries I've seen. It's always clean and the cats are obviously well-cared for; walking up the main aisle with Lesley and Ray, they will talk to you about their latest arrivals whilst also pausing to talk to the cats as well. They offer a range of foods (different kinds of wet, dry and occasionally even real chicken!) and there are toys in most of the enclosures already in case you forget to bring your own. The enclosures are divided into a private and public area for each cat, where your cat can either sneak away and be unseen, or look at the goings-on in the cattery. There are heated pads for your cat in winter, so they won't get cold. The owners are responsive over email and the phone, and as it's their full time job, the opening hours are long, which is great. The last time I boarded our cat there, if you pick your cat up between 9 and 10am in the morning, you don't have to pay for another full day, which is often a blessing if you come home late one night from a holiday. Although catcare is generally quite pricey, their rates are good. There is also a collection service, which I think is within a 3-mile radius. I've never used it, so there may be a charge, but it's nice to know that if your car breaks down, or your cat has just got too fat to be carried, you can still get it there. Above all, it's a really superb cattery from the second you walk in, you feel like your cat will be in really safe, good hands. Could not ask for better.

They offer a pick-up and drop-off service which helps massively. My biggest complaint is that my cat came home smelling like a cigarette. I doubt that it was just a matter of the driver smoking in the car when she was being delivered because the smell is really in her fur. She's been home for nearly 12 hours and it still smells terribly. I never thought to ask whether the cattery was non-smoking! Of course, it's possible that my cat picked up a smoking habit while I was away, but I doubt it. However, the smell of smoke is very distinct and there is no way it was due to a faulty grooming product. The driver who dropped my cat off also smelled strongly of smoke, so it could have just been from the drive back, but it's hard to believe that a short car ride could cause the smell to be that deep into her fur that it lasted for three days. I think it's important to review the business as I experienced it.

Dominique sent us daily updates with photos on whatsapp which helped alleviate our separation anxiety greatly. When our mischievous brat managed to open a shut door and lock herself in a room one night, she made 2 visits the next day to check in on her. She really cares for cats and our cat loved her. We will definitely request her help again, the next time we travel.

Every single time I go my very anxious cats are delayed by at least 30 minutes, sometimes as long as an hour, sat waiting outside for their appointment. And every single time (over a year and many appointments to deal with allergies) blood work, results, prescriptions etc have been delayed which causes further harm to my pets. like I say, some of the vets are wonderful but I am changing vets finally after a year of trying to get anything on time when my cats are ill and in need of treatment. It's unacceptable service and wait time compared to many other vets out there. If you have a cat who is nervous at the vet, I would think twice about going here.

Debs at Feline Happy was our petsitter for our five kitties during the entire time we lived in Finchley, and she did a great job. Our kitties love her and though we travel frequently, we always come home to happy, well-fed cats and clean litter boxes. When we first contacted Debs, she was available to come meet the kitties and start petsitting on short notice. We had an initial meeting, and even our shy kitty Oliver went right up to her to be petted, which amazed me. (Usually he hides if strangers are around) I think the cats sensed that she was a pet person, and she was very good with gaining their trust. Over time, we've found that Debs was always available through Christmas and other holidays, so we didn't have to worry about having multiple petsitters. She's fully insured, as is her husband, so even in the event of an emergency, you can be confident that your kitties are in safe hands. We've never had any kind of issues with the kitties getting sick while we were away, but I know I could trust Debs to take great care of them and to make sure they receive any medical care they might need. We give Debs our highest recommendation, and we're confident you'll be happy with her services!

They also have a dog-walking service, cat stroking etc. We used Pals4pets recently and are very happy with the care and comfort a private carer gave our dog, who has recently undergone major knee-surgery. We went to visit the carer before going away so our dog could familiarise himself with the house and carer and so that we could talk about his habits etc. When signing up with the company you fill out a form with all a carer need to know about the dog, its health and diet. Pals4pets will consider your needs and try to pair you with a carer, who suits these the best. In our case a person who had looked after several post-surgery cases was chosen. We felt very comfortable throughout the process and had a nice time away without worrying about our dog. I would recommend this service to anyone and definitely use them again

We have used Pals 4 Pets numerous times, both for our cat to do a home-stay, as well as for her to be fed at home. The people that she has been matched up with have been consistently excellent and it is clear they really love what they do. Furthermore, they have shown real affection for our cat and it is likely that the cat gets far more attention staying with her very kind P4P hosts than she usually gets. She now has a number of dedicated fans across London, all of whom seem very happy to see her return when we are off on holiday! No sense of being forced into un-needed treatments. Also the kindest and most sensitive handling of my 7 year old dog. I cannot recommend them highly enough. So good there are still some individual vet practices when so many have been taken over by corporate giants. I thought I'd play the long game before leaving a review as to whether my last trip to this vets…read morecould have been avoided if the staff had been just a bit more diligent/competent following treatment of one of my cats for struvite crystals costing me nearly a bag of sand. A second emergency visit was needed 18 months later for the same issue and it was costing me more than I could afford so the practice advised me take it to blue cross for follow up checks. However when I collected my cat the owner whom has always been nice and fair, and to be honest did deduct some treatment costs, and this was before what I'm about to reveal. Like I said upon collecting my cat and paying nearly another grand the owner said to me about feeding a diet of prescription food particularly 'Hills' they do a CD range for urinary issues. Good advice but I then told her that on my first visit no one ever mentioned this when I collected and paid the bill. Nothing what so ever about after care if I had known then I would have fed him the prescription food as I've done so ever since. You should have seen the look on the owners face as she looked to her staff with eyes that said it all. Naturally she didn't say anything in front of me but I sure feel she would have once I left, because if her staff had been competent or diligent enough to inform me of the aftercare on my first visit just maybe the second costly visit could have been avoided. Now I say I'm playing the long game with this review because since the owner told me about the prescription food he's been fed it and has to date not had any urinary tract/struvite crystals issue, nearly four years clear. I won't be using again I would rather take my pets to organisations like animals charities such as PDSA, Blue Cross etc as the staff are motivated by the welfare of the animals rather than private vets that are driven by fiscal targets. It's a sad case because this could have been avoided if some degree of professionalism into the welfare, particularly the aftercare of the animals they are treating was considered.

I was fed up with taking the ugly cat bed off my radiator every time friends came for dinner, and I just can't stand shades of beige, brown or dark green. Not an easy task! Until I came across Pets in the City, a lovely little shop at the end of a row of shops on this little known road in North Kensington. My heart sank when the owner mentioned that someone had just been in to buy her entire stock of cat treats (how inconsiderate!), but luckily didn't also clear her out of cat beds. And there it was, amongst the usual subjects in granny colours a beautiful fluffy bed made from a shaggy purple and white (not beige!) fabric. Simple and effective, my cat loved it from day one. And what's better it looks like a scatter cushion and not out of place in a modern Notting Hill flat. A winner!
