It's a huge store with almost everything you need for office, work from home , things fr kids , photo copy facility, return Amazon counter and more. The staff is good and helpful . read more

I was in the market for a high end printer and I was fortunate enough to have the help of Sue, her knowlege on the product was amazing and she explained all the pro's and con's of the printer I was looking for then becuse of her insite, I ended up buying a totally different printer and it is the most amazing printer I have ever owned! Staples in general, and this one in particular, is not only largely irrelevant, they are so understaffed and the staff has so little knowledge of the store that I walked out after being directed to an aisle where what I wanted wasn't. Staples is so bad that they had to get a government boondoggle (ServiceOntario) to desperately hope more people might accidentally buy something while they wait for their license renewal. I am sitting in my car, ordering what I wanted from Amazon. I hope this company goes bankrupt, and quickly. Be useful or close. read more

I'd like to start out with, I've been a customer of Staples for years. I own a small business and often work late hours as a lot of small business owners do. Jan 9th I was working on my year end and my printer ran out of ink, and being the proactive person I am, I had an extra, especially for times like these. I wonder if anyone else has had an experience of running out of ink when printing T4's etc. My computer uses HP60 Black Ink and when I put in the new cartridge, it didn't work. This has happened before and I was able to get a replacement from Staples Newmarket. This time however, when I entered the store, I was grateful a manager was at the cash. When I explained my problem, all he did was look at the receipt, said I only had 28 days to return ( my receipt was dated July) I understand that, the warranty's date was Sept 2023 so I thought it would just be a replacement. He listened to me, he repeated OK and sorry 28 days about 3 times before I realized he was not going to help me. Pretty lousy customer service, he did not once say "get in touch with HP..nothing just asked if I'd like him to recycle it for me. I said I would contract HP myself. He was rude and unhelpful and as I was stuck, I purchased another cartridge. I felt awful for doing that and he cashed me out. I wish I got his name, but if he reads this he will know who he is. As it turns out I did troubleshoot with HP later that evening and they said to unplug printer, re-start and try again. Guess what it worked. Now it's an open package (which I've wrapped in ClingWrap) hoping it will not dry out. If he had only said to contact them, I'm sure it would have been a better outcome. This location has the worse printing department. I've been told twice that they can't do same day. I was told that other locations can provide a 2hr lead time for same day ... and I call bullsh*t. I've been to other Staples locations throughout the GTA and have never had an issue. I usually get architectural printouts, and have NEVER had any issues, I walk in and get my printouts in 10-15mins. My first visit, I had to come back in an hour and today, I was told my printouts wouldn't be ready until tomorrow morning ... so much for convenience. The printing department in this location is horrible and Sue (who attended to me) NEEDS Customer Service training. read more

I was in Staples today and I was looking for a few things for my son. I wasn't looking for anything extravagant or pricey just some loose leaf lined paper, charcoal pencils and a binder that we had purchased at the beginning of the school year. His favourite item was the binder, only we couldn't find it anywhere! This great lady helped us, and my only regret is that I do not remember her name. I was so impressed by her, and how she went above and beyond to help us, that I insisted on speaking with the Store Manager, Ben. I can honestly tell you that ever since Ben took over as store manager, the employees have proven to be more helpful, more patient, more knowledgable and to be quite honest more of service. I have no doubt that this woman was an awesome employee from the get go, my only regret is that I cannot recall her name but I'm going back to staples to find out and post a review for her because both she and Ben deserve a big round of applause for the professional and outstanding service! read more

I've written a couple letters to head office to commend them on their helpful workers, and now I need to share that love here. Their selection is the same as any other Staples, but it really makes a difference if the staff seem genuinely interested in helping answer my questions. I had such a HORRIBLE experience with this New Market Staples location. I was spoken down to by the "manager" of the printing department,who told me on the phone that she had no idea what I was looking for, and that she comes from an extremely "artistic" family yet can not imagine what it was I was needing. All I wanted was some vinyl wording cut, so I could transfer it onto a photo... LOL how "artistic" of a family do you need to come from to understand that. Then once understood she told me to go online and deal with one of their order takers which I did do and he was knowledgeable and pleasant "Toor" was his name. Toor told me that he would expedite this order and that it would be there next day for pick up. I had to call the store to see if the order was there, and was told no ... then after emails back and forth to Toor, it was understood that it was a special order, which get delivered to the store once a day. I called the store back (many times BC the system hangs up after 1 minute if their service people don't answer) Frustrating, not to mention VERY bad business practice. I must have spoken to 4 different sales people whom NONE of them knew where my order was. Email back to Toor who told me he has confirmation email that Peter at the New Market location signed for it an hour before I called. Finally, I spoke to the manager or the print department again, and when I told her that it is there and that Peter has signed for it you would think she being the manager would get the order and let me know it was ready for pick up ASAP. Instead she told me that Peter needs to do his job first with these orders and then once at the front I will get a call or an email telling me when it is there for pick up. I told the woman that THIS IS A SPECIAL ORDER FOR PICK UP TODAY. She did not action the order and left it as though she will contact me soon. By end of day I spoke with Sayed "STORE MANAGER" who when I explained the situation, and the behaviour of his department head, he also spoke down to me, and told me that they had done their job, and I had been notified that the order was there (which yes I was told by Toor via email but when I spoke to the store manager I was told that they are too busy taking care of customers in the store and that she will get to me on "her" time even though I have email stating it is there and who signed for it. He did not respond to me regarding her attitude. (other staff members I spoke to throughout this ordeal were quite pleasant and helpful and apologetic). Meantime they have my money and I have no product! W H A T T T I was needing to know everything was ready for me for pick up as I am HIGHLY DISABLED... I NEED A DOUBLE LUNG TRANSPLANT, AND I AM ON OXYGEN 24/7... which leaves me struggling to walk, not to mention carry my portable oxygen tank from the car to the store, and because I am exerting energy from myself . I have the tank turned to 15 liters per min, which is the highest oxygen prescription a patient can have as an outpatient. Therefore, the tank empties very fast at that level, or freezes up so I do not get a flow.... Dah. This was explained to them so they would understand my need for their due diligence on this order. I will certainly NOT be dealing with them again. Also, I will be sending a letter off to my MP for them to forward to the CEO of Staples. Very bad manners and "BULLY' tactics ... Little did they know I was going to also pick up a pair of sennheiser around-ear-headphones-with-bluetooth-for almost $200.00 and an ink cartridge for my laser printer while I was there. But phone customers are second rate peeps apparently at this location. Wow, I worked retail and managed retail for years, and then owned retail stores which we franchised, and so I think I do know a little bit about customer service. In store assistance is great. Forget about calling on the phone. On Mar. 26 2012 at 4:40 PM, I tried six times to reach someone in the tech department. I finally tried customer service and spoke to the manager. She apologized but stated that in store customers receive preference, apparently to the exclusion of phone customers. I was attempting to check stock on a $300.00 printer prior to driving down and picking it up. I owned and operated a retail/service business for 40+ years, and rule one was "No matter what, the phones must be answered". With the advent of the internet and on line shopping, companies seem to have forgotten this basic business concept. Ignoring the customer is never a good business practice. John Gamble read more
