A store that is now focused on Office and Tech needs, is closed today "because their wifi is down and they need to wait for another employee to come in in 3 hours(not an exaggeration, they said the employee would be in at 1, its currently 10am, opening)to fix it". So number 1 you're telling me that your stores don't properly utilize the technology they sell and number 2, that your employees have no understanding of simple tech troubleshooting, number 3 you're paying people to sit there and be useless, overall great management. read more

This Staples location recently underwent a renovation and is now branded as a "Staples Connect" center. The new branding is more modern, sleek and appealing. I frequent Staples for the odd print job every now and then. The printing rates for black and white documents are actually pretty reasonable! I paid $1.60 to print 10 pages. Since my recent discovery that Staples has a UPS service, I'll probably be visiting more often. Staples also saved me during the current pandemic. I was able to score Lysol spray and sanitizing wipes here. You can find a limited supply of cleaning supplies and food/drinks here, but will be paying a premium on items. I stopped by to ask if they cut thick window film. The answer was yes, but their cutter was out of service so they sent me to the Fresh Pond. No dice. Fresh Pond was leaning towards rude and denied my window film cut request. Sassy-ish. Needless to say. I'm done with Staples. No real training of the staff means the customer suffers. I needed to fax some documents so today I decided to go walking from home to nearest Staples store, it was a nice day for a walk. Coming North from Medford crossing the bridge I arrive at Assembly Row only to be surprised by the amount of literal shit covering the grass, sidewalks and parking lot I mean, just unbelievable... Granted there were ducks hanging around whose probably are the culprit but please, get it together people, have someone clean these streets, we can't even walk without stepping on some undesirables. Really sub par customer service at this location. Also, I just go to staples when I'm in a pinch to print somethings. Today's experience really will be my last. While I was printing I see something in the corner of my eyes it's a mouse ! I preceded to tell the store associate about the mouse lol ! In the most just care way said ok and let the mouse just sit there like wtf ! lol My printing already started so couldn't move machines. So , I just watched the mouse legit stand there for like no lie 5 minutes yes I was shocked as well lol.I also don't think they practice proper wiping and cleaning of the machines at this location. I am assuming each machine should be wiped down after use I did not see any sanitizer products available to do so. I will reframe from shopping at staples going forward. read more

I haven't been to a Staples Connect before, though I can guarantee I will start going more often. I came today to ship some items, but I saw a monitor that I have been interested in for a while now. The staff was great in helping me find information about this monitor, but who I found the most helpful was the cashier, Shirish. Shirish was super friendly, supportive and relatable. Not only was he super fun to talk with, but he was also able to answer all my questions and informed me of their coupons and app. In the end, Shirish was able to help me get a good deal on my monitor. I had a frustrating day at work, but Shirish honestly made my day a whole lot better. read more

On July 27th I was traveling with my wife and realized I didn't have my MacBook charger. I sent my wife to Staples to get a replacement, it was about 35 miles from where we were staying - so I gave her the computer to bring with her to make sure she got the right one. The employee at the store looks up what I need and sells my wife the $90 charger. She brings it home & it's the wrong one - it was actually problematic, but that's fine people make mistakes and I understand. Well, I went to return the charger at the Somerville, MA store & was told it wouldn't be possible. It had been 25 days and the policy only allows for 14 days. I asked if I could exchange it or get credit - but I was also told that wasn't an option. The team supervisor, Michaela, put it bluntly that the she was inflexible and there is no way I would be able to change anything. I understand the need for a reasonable return window - but the fact that there was no way to account for the context of the situation ( an employee made a mistake selling the wrong product ) is shocking. I asked for the store manager - she told me that the manager was busy. I asked for the manager's phone number and she said I couldn't have it. I was speechless & felt like there was no recourse. It sounded like Michaela wasn't understanding the context. Eventually I did speak to Danna, the manager on duty, and she repeated the same inflexibility. An employee made a mistake telling which product to buy & I'm told there is now no recourse. I need to eat the $90 loss. The attitude & pointed resistance to understanding/resolving the situation was a perfect example of how to lose a customer. In the age of highly competitive retail sales, brick & mortar stores have the ability to engage with customers by providing expert advice and convenience that online retails can't deliver. Staples, their store in Somerville, and Michaela & Danna are shining examples of how you can add another nail to the coffin of a dying retail chain. read more

Who would have expected that I could be a fan of an office supply store? Think broken iPhone5 screen. I see a sign that Staples fixes broken iPhone screens. In just over one hour for about $75 dollars. Excellent. Otherwise, the store isn't all that interesting. It isn't particularly clean. Sometimes it's difficult to find the right help and they don't serve food thankfully - who would like to eat staple-flavored reams? Two days ago I was having a particularly fitful time with troublesome print machines. I purchased a $400 La z Boy office chair. There was a defect in the chair. I called Staples and they told me they were past the 14 days. I find this rather odd in that return policies are usually 30 Days. Given my experience, I will not return to Staples due to their return policy of 14 days. A $20 coupon does not cut it. read more

This is only for the copy & print center. They can't even get a simple double-sided print job done. I asked them to print our 5 copies of a powerpoint presentation, and they printed it out as a single document where the first hand out ended up with the first page of the second handout and the second one of course ended up losing the first page... Not only are the employees incompetent but copies are also really expensive .20 for one double-sided page - outrageous. read more

To be honest, I only need to go into a Staples about once every 6 months. Tonight happened to be one of those times looking for a number of differrent things including printer ink. When I walked in the door a couple of employees were near it chatting. One of them immediately greeted me and asked me if I needed help. I told him yes, with ink and he right away led me to the ink and helped me find what I needed. Then instead of walking away he asked if I needed anything else. Nice! Too bad I never saw another employee the rest of the minutes I was in there. The store is laid out a little weird, but not impossible to navigate. We brought my husband's phone in to the Tech Services department at Staples to attempt to repair some water damage. While we were there, I noticed a sign for a $30 battery change for the Iphone. My 6s had been losing battery life rapidly and I had planned to bringing it to Apple, who is offering the same price for the battery swap. As were were already there, I decided to just have it done by the Staples team. We specifically asked if them changing the battery through Staples would void the service contract or warranty with Apple and were told that it wouldn't. They said the ONLY thing that would void it, would be if they changed the screen. Based on this information, we dropped my phone off for service. When we picked the phone up, I noticed a small crack at the base by the 'home' button. The tech was very nice about it and showed me the tools she used and swore it hadn't been dropped. I don't recall this issue being there before but I will take their word for it. The biggest issue is that after this service, my phone slowed down to the point that it was unusable. The battery continued to lose charge quickly and now, when I got below 35%, it became so slow that I couldn't even make phone calls anymore. This was never an issue before I brought it to Staples. At this point, I had decided enough is enough and brought it to Apple to get ANOTHER battery, as they might have more experience with it. They checked the charging capabilities on the battery and we were told it was at about 83%, which is usually what they see after about 2 years of use. This battery was supposedly ONE WEEK OLD. Further, they told me that because I had the service done at Staples, it voided my service and they could no longer make any repairs or touch the phone at all. My hands were tied and I had no options. I am going to Asia for 2 weeks soon and need a phone that functions so I was forced to but a new $500 phone from Apple. Not only were we given a sub-par battery by the Staples team, we were lied to about how it would affect the phone's serviceability with Apple. I am livid and will warn every single person I can to avoid this place like the plague. It's disappointing because I always had great experiences with the print department. I am happy to provide the report from Apple regarding the battery's performance post-service. read more

I was in Staples Assemble Square last week. This young lady named Phyllis was very helpful and very patient with me with the printer. I am 70 years old and have a hard time using newer technology. She helped me through the whole process with a cheerful attitude. It was the easiest experience I have had and I will be recommending my friends to this store because of this associate. read more

Not a big fan of this staples "superstore." I've been in there twice and both times have been standing at the register for about 5 minutes before anyone bothered to ring me out and/or acknowledge me. Both times workers have been standing at their registers on the phone or just not paying attention. Tonight in particular, I went for a printer and all of the printers on sale were sold out. Whatever that's understandable. But probably 5 employees walked by and no one asked if I needed help. I finally got to the register with some other stuff I wanted to buy and the cashier was annoyed because it was his time to punch out.. I want to give 5 stars for their excellent Customer service. I came on Friday for the sample and the Lady (I forgot her name) explained and helped me to choose the best option for my printing. I came back on Saturday to place my order. I came at 1:20 and the store was pretty busy. I would need to place the order before 2 PM to get same day products. I was waiting patiently and the customer services kept taking customers that came after me. I finally got service with some new employee and had no idea what she was doing. She sent me to the other lady and she would not really helpful either. She kept saying that she should leave like 5 minutes ago. Then my hero Andrew came, he finished my order in 5 mins. Give me a discount. His work is excellent. He finished the work for 5 mins that his coworkers try to do in 1 hour. Hope Staple take it and train the new employees better. the problem with a marriage between Staples and UPS is neither one of them take responsibility when they lose your package. Each one says call the other and yet neither one can find your package and neither one of them have the power to refund the $70 I paid to ship the package that they lost so not only did I not get my $200 package I paid $70 for them to lose it. Today I was required to stop into staples to pick up some urgent office supplies. I decided to pick up an office chair while I was there. And wouldn't you know, the Cashier proceeded to tell me that she has seen people come back into staples after that chair snapped in half, so I should buy their warranty. I said "No, thank you." The chair was like $140.00. At this point, someone who I am assuming was the supervisor (a blonde woman) came over and proceeded to tell me that the color would wear off of the chair and I should buy the warranty so I could come in and exchange for a better color. I said "No, Thanks", clearly I was getting annoyed, but these folks wouldn't drop it. I had to clearly state I wasn't interested. I hope that the manufacturers know that staples spreads rhetoric that their products are terrible just so that they can sell warranties. Today, August 29th 2011, I had the misfortune to encounter an employee at the Middlesex Ave, Somerville, branch of Staples. I arrived at 9.30am to return two computer monitors and to select some office furniture. At the return or "drop off' counter, the General Manager, Vinny Mendonca, didn't bother to finish the phone conversation he was presently having with someone else and with an upward sweep of his chin attempted to convey that he was ready to hear what I had to say. He rather gruffly asked some questions of me and also of the person on the phone but I was unable to determine who was being asked what. Finally, I discovered that he would not allow me to return my items since they were purchased just over two weeks ago. When I purchased them I was at pains to ask of the salesperson if I it was a 30 day return policy to which he answered 'Yes' The manager, however, said that no employee of his would ever say that. When I asked if I could receive credit towards today's planned purchase he was extremely rude and threatening. I asked if he was adamant about this but since he didn't know what the word 'adamant' meant he was unable to respond verbally preferring instead to get even angrier. I asked what I should do with two brand new monitors which I did not need. He smugly suggested that I should "put them up on Ebay" Perhaps Ebay is where I should have shopped to begin with! I suggested that 'something' could be done to alleviate this situation to which he responded "I've told you the policy. Are you calling me a liar?" Recognizing this as an attempt to gain the moral high ground, I was quite specific in replying that under no circumstances was I accusing him of lying and certainly was not calling him a liar. However, the word "lie" became quite popular with him and he appeared disappointed that I refused to go for the bait. Getting rather loud and aggressive in his attitude towards me, he then proceeded to give the impression to fellow customers and staff that I was a 'liar' and being unreasonable. During this whole episode I remained calm and allowed this Staples manager to go off at the mouth and get even more angry for no apparent reason. Returning the items to my car, I decided that I under no circumstances should I be thought of as the liar. I decided that I would speak with another employee, Matt, who was present during this whole discourse. Returning to the store, I asked the Manager if I could speak with that same employee. That employee agreed that I had not used the word liar if my conversation with his boss. The manager, however, became even more vociferous and angry and once again accused me of calling him a liar. Defending myself was of no use since the manager's perception of the situation was "if you are disagreeing with me than you are calling me a liar". He actually said that! Hopefully, with an employee attitude such as that, Staples will find itself in the same position as the now defunct 'Circuit City'. Rant below... I do not recommend. I called beforehand and spoke to a manager (wont mention the name) because I wanted to print a pdf file. The manager (same guy on the phone) was rude and unhelpful. I wanted to print something, I waited in line, and was instructed to use a computer a print the pdf but didn't know how to use it and he completely ignored me after I asked for help. The other associate there couldn't be bothered as well (she wasn't doing anything either). She gave me misinformation about being able to print double-sided and said"we don't do that here". I then asked Justin and he said that they did but failed to show me or explain. Since the computer wasn't even working when I tried to open the pdf while they charged me per minute he refunded me but was rude about the entire way through. They charge 50cents per page which is even more ridiculous and 30cents a MINUTE to use the computer. So while I was being ignored I was being charged but whatever I got a refund and Im never going there again nor doing business with them. It was so frustrating I'm never shopping at staples again, this location needs need a vetting process. Rant over read more

Went here a few days ago to get a new Galaxy S4 phone. After waiting a few minutes, I accosted a salesperson who was scurrying by and he said someone would be by in a minute. Waited another 5 minutes and left for the Everett Verizon store. I would never go back to this Staples. The one in Acton is quite good, but the one in Fresh Pond is only slightly better than this one. read more

I'm a big fan of the Copy & Print center at this location. I print many orders here and the copy & print center always takes great care of me. I highly recommend calling ahead to see the best pricing they can offer you, they usually apply better prices than online staples copy and print can offer. This is the staples I go to when my Burlington and Woburn staples copy & print cant fill my large orders or multiple banners. I want to write this review for two separate occasion. 1st I walked in Earlier in June , my daughter had returned from Army boot camp and was also being deployed. So I wanted to do a banner for her, the young lady named Rey Santana, helped me how to design it and made sure that I received the banner just in time for my daughters welcome home now. 2nd time was a few day's ago she helped me once again get some copies of flyers I needed quickly and she made sure I received them in minutes. The staff here is very well-trained and hasn't forgotten what many retailers have: the shipping experience is fundamentally about customer service. I came in to buy a Kindle Paperwhite. An employee greeted me with a hello and a smile, inviting me to ask a question without being overbearing about it. When I asked if they had Kindles in stock, she took off on the mission at hand, casually and helpfully adding that a two-year warranty was worth considering because batteries are the first things to go on Kindles. When she found the answer - no, they didn't have any, but she could show me who did - I was thankful for the speed and quality of the experience. This was a terrible experience. I bought black ink, but the girl that helped me said it might not work to only get black ink without the color ink. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try and I was reassured I could return it. I go straight home, open the ink package and start my printer. I realized my printer wasn't working after several attempts to get it started. So I decide to return the ink and get a new printer. When I tried to return it, I was told the ink was empty. The lady said it looked used to her. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable that I had to defend myself to convince them I was not trying to pull one over on them. She reluctantly told me she will refund it this one time. If that was the only incident I would not be here typing this. When I opened the new printer, I see that there is a preset toner in it. I was told none of the printers have presets in them already, I even asked twice. However, I see that the preset and the holder for the toner was in a bag that was already ripped open. I try the preset anyways and it was empty. So now I was wondering if thats what the girl meant when she said none of the printers have presets in them because they were all empty. However, the open bag made me suspicious so I call the support line for help. I was told it should have been half full. I did not feel comfortable going back there and made to feel like I was trying to scam them or something so I asked if there was a complaint line. The person on the phone said I would have to talk to the manager of that location first. I was put on hold to transfer the call over to them, it took a while and at that point I decided it wasn't even worth it. read more
