Ah what a little hidden gem. I came out to Savoy for a local premiere for a feature film, You're OUT!, that we shot in the area and my partner and I were so hungry. After getting gas we decided to stop by to Star BBQ and we're so pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, authentic vibes, the quick service, and the fact that the space was full of Korean folks. Always a good sign of a good korean restaurant. We even got our food super fast because they knew we were going to the theater and didn't have much time to eat. Also, they have kim chee pizza. If I was in town longer I would definitely try their pizza! Apparently it's a hot item there and very popular.

Champaign, IL is the closest city with somewhat decent Asian genre food, and this time I took the family to eat some Korean BBQ. The food was actually not too shabby. Surprisingly, the star of the banchan was the potato salad. I'm not one to crave potato salad, but it was actually quite tasty. Servers were very accommodating and gave more banchan when we requested it. Will be back again!

Star BBQ is one of the top Korean restaurants in town! Located in Savoy, the restaurant has so much space to offer with grills to cook meat on almost all the tables. I've been there for dinner without bbq and dinner with bbq and both experiences have been great. The servers are extremely friendly, and I have to say that their soy bean stew is probably one of my favorites in town. Highly recommend!

Jjigae was good, but samgyeopsal is not as good. Bibimbap is all burnt. I don't think I will come back since there are so many other good Korean restaurants nearby.

Tofu Kimchi Pork Belly. Fantastic!

Star BBQ is my favorite restaurant in C-U. Every dish I've had there has been phenomenal! I'd like to say what my favorite dish is, but I can't possibly narrow it down. If I'm eating by myself, it's nice to be in a booth where you can watch the music videos. If you're with a group, grilling at the table is ideal! Worth every penny. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the proprietors. VIP service, for real! So friendly, welcoming, and attentive! I and/or we dine at Star BBQ every two weeks or so. Check this place out!

Spicy Pork Belly

I came to Star BBQ for dinner with my boyfriend because we were both craving Korean BBQ. We ordered the sirloin steak and the spicy pork belly. The sirloin steak was good when I ate it as soon as it was done cooking, but after a couple of minutes, it became dry. The spicy pork belly was thin and not very juicy. However, the side dishes and vegetables were fresh and tasty! The pan for the grill was not non-stick and became burnt and unusable very fast. They give you some butter to oil the pan a little bit, but it doesn't do much. I went on a Saturday night at around 8 PM and it seemed like there weren't enough servers working. My overall experience here was just okay.

Reminds me of my home back in Korea The owner was very friendly, she recommended us what to eat and we absolutely loved it! Just classic Korean pork belly Nangmyeon was also fantastic i would try it again for sure The price may seem a little high, but it is 100% worth it! They serve a lot for a person as well, so it is affordable. It would be great for you to visit with lots of your friends.

My friend and I ordered a Medium Combo 2. Our Server, David told us that the Medium serves 2-3 people and the Large combo serves 4-6. I can assure you we left the restaurant more than full. After we ordered our food arrived to the table in about 10 minutes but the whole cooking experience took about an hour. Star火BBQ is a do-it-yourself restaurant, but our server was more than happy to cook the meat for us. Sometimes when you go to a BBQ place the meat can be too chewy or have too much fat but that was not a problem here. The meat was great. One thing that is not stated on the menu is that the combos include a salad for each person eating at the table, a side of some delicious kimchi, a side or spinach, another dish that I did not know but was great, a bowl of soup and some interesting but great scrambled eggs ( 1 bowl of soup and 1 bowl of eggs per table ). Star火BBQ is clean, fun, friendly and delicious. Great for a night our with a group of friends. Korean BBQ beats Hibachi all day

I think this place is new, the place offers traditional Korean BBQ , I would recommend to my friends, firstly it is not an "all you can eat place" the meat is premium here compared to other places. We order a combo M size which is enough for 2-3 people , great thing about this is that they serve superb side dishes including many types of kimchi , mashed sweet potatoes , steamed eggs, vegetables and salads and they do refills! The price came at 75$ which is very reasonable for the food we had. Hope you find this useful.

Probably the best Korean restaurant in Chambana. The server cooks the meat for you so you can relax and drink soju.

Started serving wings everyday! Worth the trip for sure! I've returned 4 times now in the last 6…read moreweeks.

Here We Go!!! Bobo's…read moreBBQ. Never been here. Oldest and Wifey who are with me tonight have been here, but I never have. So, first, let's talk about the place. First off, it has a drive through, so we are not talking upscale, but it's not a dive. It's a nice clean place. Pretty small, but quite clean. And we noticed many drive thru and pick up orders! Fountain drinks and many sauce choices to boot. Sauces I tried: Cherry Chipotle: excellent! A little bit spicy, but not enough to deter any but the most sensitive palate. Pineapple Horseradish: fantastic! Oh my. I gotta learn how to make this. Chipotle peach: a good sauce. I didn't rave about it like the first two, but it's good. As wifey said, very good for chicken even though she poured it all over her brisket. She says this may be her fave or that it is tied with my fave - the pineapple horseradish. Mild: a very nice sauce! A little smoky flavor makes it pretty smashingly good. There are a few others that we didn't get. A Habanero Mango, a Hot, and another that I forgot... I got the Redneck Pork Nachos. Verdict: Great! A few too many jalapeño slices, but those are removable. Fries, pulled pork, melted nacho cheese, what could go wrong? Nothing! I was still wanting delicious food, so I ordered a Polish Sausage Sandwich. Now, this was a bit silly as I was pretty full, but I wanted something delicious again. Anyway, it was worth the required waddle to the car afterwards. In fact, just to explain, I wouldn't even get ICE CREAM!!!! That has never happened in my life!!! EVER!!! I've ALWAYS had room for ice cream! Anyway... Oldest got the pulled chicken sandwich. Hard to get much review from her, very short phrases and all. It wasn't enough, so she got another sandwich, brisket this time. The brisket was just as good as the chicken. She couldn't decide which was better. She says it depends on your mood, but both are good. Maybe a slight nod to the chicken because of the crispy edges. Wifey: Wifey got the brisket platter with baked beans and the fries. The brisket was a balanced blend of the moist and lean cuts with little pieces of burnt ends with it. Perfection! The French fries were the real deal sliced potatoes, fried "Jersey Shore" style (IYKYK). What a treat that was for the native Philly girl. The baked beans were next level. They were simmered with brisket and peaches in their famous bbq sauce. Wifey says they were calling to her so she answered the call and she was NOT sorry! They were so good! She was one very happy wifey tonight -y! Overall, it was a great outing to a new place! This might come into rotation in Champaign as a go to place. I don't think it's the right place for a romantic date. But, it's a great third or fourth date place. It's also not the place to take a business client, but, it's a great place for business coworkers.
