Wanting to get my haircut I had called 5 different places, everyone is booked till next week. Friend of our visited this place today in the morning and had posted a note on one of the social media app we both share. I called StartGlow Salon & was told If I can come in right now, I live 15 mins away from them. I got there by 11:00 got my haircut done. They really clean good before you walk & after you walkout. They have a waiting area outside, they took my temperature, wearing all protective gears and did an amazing job. Dayan did an excellent job and I would recommend her and the salon to everyone....please give TIPS generously as they have to put with a lot for last 3 months and now they have to pay for these protective gears to keep us safe. I wish I could give them 10Star Raiting, compete social distancing and almost no touch service. It's haircut they sanitize equipment hands, before and after serving customers. I've been coming to this place for many years for eyebrow threading, and it's always a great experience. The best part is how quick and simple it is -- no appointment needed. I usually stop by while doing my grocery shopping at Costco, so it's very convenient and truly quick in and out. I like to keep my brows natural with just a little clean-up, and all the stylists do a great job understanding exactly what I want. They really listen and deliver every time. I've been going to starglow for the past 6 years however the past two times I've gone I've been so disappointed. I get my eyebrows threaded and the last time i went she took off a line of my eyebrows. I figured it would grow back so I didn't care as much. I went to the hillsborough location today to get my eyebrows done, and my experience is worth writing my first ever yelp review. I was a walk-in and got serviced right away by a woman named Nancy. She was AMAZING! I've had some horrible experiences with many salons that totally ruined my eyebrows, so I've been doing them myself for the last 1.5 years. She listened to everything I said and did exactly what I wanted, and asked first before making any changes. She managed to fix the shape, make them even (finally!), and perfectly groom them. She took her time, but the whole thing only took a few minutes. I don't remember the last time they looked this good! I went to this place today for eyebrow threading. It's a nice place and clean and whatever, but definitely not welcoming. The people working there are totally not friendly at all, and everyone seemed to have some kind of attitude. I'm pretty sure that nobody said much more to me than a few two word commands under their breath the entire time that I was there. When I was done, it didn't even look like the girl did anything to my brows at all. I gave this place 2 stars because, looking on the bright side, at least she didn't destroy my eyebrows ...and it was cheap enough. But I'm certainly not going back there. read more

Horrendous service!!!!! The girl who serviced me just took the tip that she decided was right before giving the change back to me.!! Although I didn't want to tip her for her horrible service that day. I am surprised to see that they still have business for their stinky service!! I don't usually write reviews but I'm a little shocked at the some of the reviews written for this place Bc the experience I had was great. I went in for a diamond facial with Laila, and she was very pleasant. She told me what to use to improve my skin since my skin suffers from hyper pigmentation. I also had my eyebrows and upper lip done and Jagruti did a good job. Word of advice.. I think you need to tell them exactly how you want your eyebrows done, and they'll do a good job. I have been going to Starglow for years and I am officially never returning. This is not the first time this has happened, but the most recent time I went it, the girl that did my eyebrows waxed off the skin under my eyes. I was left with literal open wounds under my eyebrows that made me look worse than when I had entered. I told the girl that she was hurting me and she continued to go over the spot where she ripped off the skin repeatedly. As this made me nervous that I could get an infection since it was an open wound, I wanted to share this so others can be informed that this is a common occurrence at this salon. read more

I'd had a really bad experience at Princeton Nails on Nassau Street, my eyebrows were crooked, so coming here and getting such a good job done was fantastic and actually cheaper than the other place. I'm not sure about hair cuts, I'm always nervous with cheap hair cuts, but if someone else tries and say's it's good then I'd give it a go. read more

Cost of services has doubled after COVID. This makes zero sense and you can sense that the owner is being greedy due to the fact that they do not disclose or are transparent on prices even of basic hair cutting. What would typically cost roughly $40 for 2 children + 1 ladies hair cut now costs $76.00. I understand a COVID surcharge fee of $5.00 per person but to completely charge $24 on what used to cost $12 is equivalent to paying double for a gallon of gas or gallon of milk. It's shameful that a store of such repute would fall to such uncommon practices. We had our last visit in this store after nearly 10 years of visit. read more

Threading here is $4, a price that you can't beat, and I enjoyed the experience more than my previous threadings in Edison because you don't feel rushed and they do a great job. Ask for Priti or Manga, the owner, for that service. For hair cutting for women, my sister and I are personally fans of Fernando, while our cousins are fans of Claudine. Regardless, this is a situation where you're getting more than you pay for-- $16 for a woman's cut without blow dry, $35 with. I've seen men getting their hair cut here, too, though I'm not sure about pricing for that. Convenient location as well. Deceptive advertising. I received a coupon in the mail for a free haircut and called them up to make sure they would honor it. The lady on the phone spoke to the manager and said they would, they just needed to check it (as in check if it was a real coupon, if it expired, or if it was something fake printed online). When I went to the salon with my coupon, she explained that the haircut was only free if I got a blowdry as well since the coupon said free haircut with blowdry. Besides the fact that the coupon was clearly deceptive since it didn't mention that the blowdry would be required or how much a blowdry would cost, what makes this story even more disturbing is that the manager clearly misled me on the phone since she was well aware that there were these deceptive coupons out there. In fact, she said that a lot of other people came in for free haircuts because of how the coupon was worded. I guess she was hoping that I would pay for a haircut because I drove there. Though there are decent reviews for this salon. This place has a tendency to rush things up even if you are there for elaborate services like waxing, facial. This attitude leads them to assign just anyone (I was assigned someone absolutely new for waxing). Despite of booking an appointment two days prior they fell short of ppl when I arrived the salon and assigned a new person who didn't know much about waxing. In addition they kept disturbing us every 10 min to hurry up. After the services I was told that she was new and seems I was the guinea pig . What is the point of making appointments if you're running 30 minutes late every time? No apologies, no nothing. holy sh*t. Let me preface this by saying I'm LIVID right now because I just got home from getting my eyebrows done and they look TERRIBLE! I specifically told the woman just a "clean up." She made them SO THIN, I actually cried. I have coarse eyebrow hair, which looks horrible with thin eyebrows. When she was done, I told her they were way too thin. She said she needed to make them "even." Let me tell you, they are the farthest thing to even now, lady. I have a wedding to go to tomorrow and I'm going to look so weird with half my eyebrow missing! WHAT DO I DO!? Penciling doesn't even help because I'm missing half the hair! NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN! NEVER GET YOUR HAIR HIGHLIGHTED HERE. I went to Starglow a couple days ago and the lady who did my hair, Margarita, cut my hair perfectly, when it came time to color it I told her to do the same color that was already on my hair which was a beautiful caramel color (since I got it colored months ago) she said she would do it and by the time she dried my hair the highlights were this awful red color and the highlights were done horribly. Over the years, I would come here to get various things done, since I know the owner. I give it three stars, because you never really know what you would get. In the end, I decided not to come any more. You never know if the staff will be nice or not. The skills overall are not great. I like when the owner does my eyebrows, but everything else thumbs down. I have had one haircut and style done properly years ago from a hair-dresser who worked there the shortest. Once, I got a facial and my face looked like someone punched me. They would do a good job waxing, but it would still hurt me ,so I have learned how to wax on my own now, without pain. I would suggest they listen more to their customers' wishes and to be more respectful. Speaking in other languages and speaking really loud in general is not pleasant at all. Overall, I would not recommend this, unless you want to spend little money to get your eyebrows done, but you never know who will do them and if they will come out nice. read more
