Blown away!! If youre looking for an amazing and skilled waxer for a Brazilian, LYDIA is your girl! Not only have I been getting waxed for over 10 years, but I am actually a former longtime wax specialist myself, so I am extremely picky and wouldn't be writing this is if it wasn't true. Although I have since changed careers altogether, I am typically able to wax myself... that is, until I got pregnant and it became an impossible task. Next came the seemingly impossible task of finding a waxer I could trust to get me through the next few months of my pregnancy. I booked with Lydia based off of a few glowing reviews, but still had my apprehension... its totally a control thing, trusting someone to do to you what you yourself are an expert in! Whats the saying.. doctors are the worst patients? Anyway, I braced myself for some discomfort and was pleasantly surprised by Lydias amazing painless technique. She is such a sweet girl to talk to as well! My wax was flawless and I immediately rebooked. What a relief to not have to worry about waxing with a new wax specialist I can trust, so close to home! ALSO- I didnt see it mentioned in reviews, but to anyone wondering, Waxing the City DOES use Hard/Stripless Wax on Brazilian waxes.. not soft wax... just an FYI as everyone told me they only used soft wax! read more

So disappointed....I used to come here religiously for Michelle (she no longer works here). As you can see, all the great reviews with pictures mention her. Anyway, when she left, I decided to not bother taking the drive here and found a great place by my house. Long story short, I'm leaving for vacation and my girl wasn't available so I came here and asked for a recommendation for someone to do my brows. What I got was a mess! When I saw the one brow I immediately told the girl that I usually don't take that much off and she, visibly seeing I wasn't happy, said my eyebrow was already messed up (it wasn't). The wax felt fine going on and I do not have sensitive skin but there is some kind of stinging welt beneath the eyebrow that got messed up. Nothing could be done so I didn't say anything more and I left. I called the owner 15 minutes later because I was too upset after looking at my brows in the car and she said I would be offered a refund and to go to someone named Lidia next time. She called me back a couple hours later and she said she talked to the girl and the girl explained everything she did to me during my session. I don't know how that's relevant. Explaining what you did doesn't make me like the outcome. The owner said the girl who did my brows "does them all day" and that "no one has ever complained". That was the end of the conversation. Do not go here - they do not listen to the customer. You will end up missing half an eyebrow and the esthetician will claim it was like that even though you have the wax full of hair as proof. I went here to have my eyebrows cleaned up a little. I clearly explained to the esthetician that I only need the light hairs under my brows removed with a little bit of wax - that this is the only thing I have done. She immediately proceeded to take the top of my eyebrows off, when I asked her what she was doing she said she was just cleaning them up. She took half of one eyebrow off - I had the wax laying on my chest full of eyebrow hairs. Ahhhh! she then she told me my eyebrows are uneven and she was going to pluck them to even them. I asked her to leave it alone - thank goodness. I now have to wait 6 months for my eyebrow to grow back. Hoping it does. Frustrating! I have never had this happen before at a wax place. I don't understand these reviews at all! It has taken me 5 years to grow thicker beautifully shaped brows and in one appointment they have managed to undo all that. Unfortunately my regular place is closing. I don't even think they know what shape eyebrows should be! I would not recommend and please stay away from this place. read more

I came here after my eyebrows got ruined after going to a salon for threading and they made it at too thin. I came in here and first impression wise, it was already great. The receptionist was so nice and I mentioned that I saw the Yelp 50% coupon and she quickly made me fill a form and I got situated fast. The one who took care of me was Zee. She was such a sweetheart and asked me immediately what type of eyebrows I wanted. I said I just wanted to then to stay thick after my threader last time made it too thin. She gave me a mirror and outlined my eyebrows to show me what parts of the eyebrow she would wax off and showed me the process and everything. Also the best part was that it was PAINLESS too, which is an added bonus. She was very careful and it felt so relaxing when she was fixing up my brows. I will def recommend this place to anyone. I am thoroughly disappointed in my experience here and I wish I would have looked at the reviews before going. The staff was friendly However my first issue was with the coupon. The only reason why I wanted to try them was the fact that the service would be 50% off. I don't recall during my booking process there was anything said about Brazilian waxing not being apart of that offer (other salons have the same offer) so it has been about 3 days since my wax and I noticed hair! And not like stubble, I mean the hair that I went there to get rid of. I honestly don't even want to call them to have the rest removed, I would rather go back to the salon I trust and have them fix the job. I doubt the owner would try and rectify the situation as well. This place is great! The studio is cute and clean, and in a great location right in the middle of Princeton MarketFair. The owner was super friendly and fun to talk to. Michelle did my Brazilian, and she made the experience so easy and comfortable. I already booked a follow up appointment, and will be recommending this place to everyone. Edit: I just came back from a second appointment, which was a brow shaping and tint. Michelle made my thick, shapeless eyebrows look fantastic! She kept them full, just how I like, and made sure the tint wasn't too dark, which was what I was initially afraid of. I'm absolutely eyebrow obsessed. I've traveled as far as NYC and paid as much as $70 to have my eyebrows shaped before. So glad I found a place nearby where I can get my brows done for a fraction of the price! read more

This place does a really good job on my brows. I moved to the area a few months ago and I have had a difficult time finding a place that waxes eyebrows, not threads them. This has been surprisingly hard to find. Every place I went to was kind of unsanitary and I would walk out missing a some skin on my eyebrow. Not the case here! This place is amazing and they did such a good job! They're located in Princeton Market Fair and they give you half off your first visit. My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is I had a coupon that said 50% off your first service and didn't give any other details. The website did not give any details either, just 50% off. Amazing! I am a recent convert from another waxing "chain" and this place is amazing! Michelle is extremely helpful and friendly. The first time in, I got my eyebrows done and it is painless. Came back for my second appt today and had my eyebrows waxed and tinted. If you have not had your brows tinted its a MUST! I am obsessed with how they look, so full and structured, its amazing. OMG I'm in love with this place. I've been waxing my eyebrows for over 20 years now, I started going to this place about 8 months ago. I am obsessed. I have been going to Waxing the City for awhile now! I can honestly say nothing but positive and wonderful things about this business. Walking in you are always greeted by the most kind and welcoming group of people! If there is not an appointment available for walk-ins, they are extremely accommodating and willing to try their hardest to squeeze you in. My girl Nicole is amazing. She is very social and pleasant to talk to. She makes my time there so special because she is able to give me the shape and style that I am looking for. I never have to worry because she is so educated and experienced in what she does. I have been to many places that I trusted with my waxing, but it was not until I came here that I realized that they know what they are doing best! I trust these people with my brows and other waxing services. They are honest and well educated with what they are doing and wont steer you in the wrong direction. Waxing the City was such a good choice. I walked right in and was basically BFFs with the owner in an instant. She was super friendly, funny, and helpful. My aesthetician was Nicole, and as soon as my appointment was over, I booked another one with her. She was professional and efficient, made me feel comfortable (because let's face it, its someone else staring at my hoohah), and kept me talking the whole time to distract me from what was going on! They don't deserve your business. Web site says they open at 9am. Window in the front of the store says they open at 9am. Showed up at 9:32am. They were closed. I called and left a voice message. I've visited twice and gotten brazilian waxing both times. The first time went smoothly except for when I tried to use the 50% off deal that is offered on Yelp. I was told that this deal does not apply to Brazilian waxes and surprisingly there was no fine print anywhere about this exception. I only found out after I got there, and just paid the regular price. The second time was fine as well in terms of the waxing, but when I tried to pay again, I was charged a really high price for the discounted Brazilian I got. I was really confused and asked for a clarification, but couldn't hear what the lady said and ended up paying and tipping for that amount. This part was my fault in that I should've just asked her to repeat it. Later when I received the receipt through email, I saw that I had been charged $30 for belly waxing. I had just asked the waxing specialist to wax the stomach strip because last time when I had gotten waxed by someone else I asked for the strip on my stomach and she clarified that there would be no extra charge. This time this new waxing specialist gave me no explanation about price and just asked if I wanted the strip above and below the belly button waxed to which I said yes (assuming that it would be the same as last time when I asked). If she had told me it would be the full price for stomach waxing, I would definitely have just said no. Because of this charge, I emailed back asking if it would be possible to get a refund or at least a discount off the $30 since typically stomach waxing involves the entire stomach (which she definitely did not do). I was told a few days later that only "one strip" on the stomach would be free and if I had more than "one strip" it would be $30. I tried to explain that this was not made clear to me during this waxing session especially considering the fact that I was told the stomach strip would be free in my first waxing session. Without any apology or admittance of fault, I was told that I should have asked the specialist at the time even though one of their other employees had told me differently in the past. All in all, both visits I've had here were marred by unpleasant experiences with duplicitous, kinda shifty charging practices. Paying the extra money is not my biggest concern (although I am a broke college student which is why I only come here when there are deals), but I would have appreciated some honesty and straightforwardness. I normally get waxed at European Wax Center, where they try to fit all of your services in a super short window of time. I definitely prefer this place as they really take their time and do smaller sections so it's less painful, they also look over the area with a lighted magnifying glass so make sure they didn't miss any hairs. Giving it only 4 stars because they have several flyers (and I also saw it here on yelp) that say you can get 50% off a service on your first visit, no where on the flyer did it say that Brazilian is not eligible. So it was kinda annoying thinking that you were gonna pay one price but then find out your service isn't eligible. Also they have packages but I think only for the Bikini waxes, where as European has them for all services. Overall I think it is a better experience than any European wax center and I've already made my next appointment to come back. read more
