1st Review of 2017…read more Wien was the beginning of what would go on to become one of my most grandest adventures: a tour of Eastern Europe. So, destination set....lets get into the hotel :::::PREFACE::::: We arrived in Vienna after a long luxurious flight from LAX. Business class comes in handy when on a long haul. After enduring the tragedies suffered at Heathrow it was nice to be in Wien. Speaking of, we arrived to Das Triest in sort of a sour mood. Our luggage didn't arrive when we did. When we got to the hotel we informed the staff and they were very accommodating. When our luggage did arrive they delivered it to our room. Lovely. :::::ARRIVAL::::: I made the reservations for this hotel on Hotels.com. There was a great rate going for a Garden Suite and I reserved it. Once we got to the hotel we were informed that the Garden Suite wasn't available. Wait, you mean to tell me my palatial terrace was a no go? Hole up.... Then, I was informed id been bumped up to the Triest Suite. I wasn't entirely aware what the Triest Suite was, but by the look of joy on the receptionists face I figured it would be nice. The Triest Suite is the only business suite. :::::TRIEST SUITE::::: Baby, let me tell you this... This is one of the few times you pray your room is taken and they bump you up to this room. So, we entered. There was a small foyer. I knew I was in for it when your room has a foyer. Come thru -upgrade. There is a built-in closetish thing that separates the entry, kitchen and living areas. Kitchen - has all the possibilities of a kitchen, just with no supplies. Maybe they have some at the front desk. I wasn't there to cook, so who cares. Living - So, you have a large Dining/Conference room with projection TV. You also have a living room with PLENTY of seating, and another large flat screen. Also, you can look out onto the private patio area. Bedroom - Simple, lovely bedroom. With easy access to the patio area. Connected to the bedroom is a on-suite bathroom. Equipped with a deep wonderful tub/shower combo Patio - Just look at the pictures. I enjoyed quite a few glasses/bottles of wine out there. :::::BAR::::: The hotel bar is nice. The bartenders were always welcoming. They have a $20 bottle of house wine thats amazing. :::::RESTAURANT::::: OK, so the restaurant was sorta closed. It wasnt open to outside customers, but provided food to guests. Not their full menu, but they had wonderful options. I sat outside a few nights enjoying a glass or 7 of wine. Also, they have an amazing breakfast in the morning. Like amazing. It would have been nice if the full menu was available, but hey.... Service throughout the hotel was always top notch and I cant wait to return.

Wien or Vienna is a beautiful city in Austria. There are beautiful places to see, eat, and stay…read moreat. But if your traveling and are a tourist and do not know your way around the city, I would definitely recommend this hotel. It's a small boutique style hotel in a good safe location. The room sizes are decent and the hotel staff is friendly and speak English so you can ask for directions etc if you are concerned about getting lost. I would recommend booking off of Expedia because the price is fair compared to other websites. Plus this hotel is near public transportation and restaurants and major sites. The rooms are a good size, clean, and updated. You won't be disappointed whether your staying here 1 day or many days.~

It sits close to the university district and within walking distance of many of the city's most iconic attractions, including the Imperial Palace, Parliament, historic cathedrals, shopping areas, and the city center. We found that most major sights were easily accessible on foot, though Uber and taxis were readily available for anyone with mobility limitations. As a Hilton Honors member, one of the highlights was the Executive Lounge. The lounge is spacious, beautifully designed, and offers a relaxing atmosphere. My son and I especially enjoyed the large chessboard, where we spent time playing together during our stay. The lounge offerings were excellent, with a variety of food and beverages throughout the day. As is often the case in Europe, the quality and presentation of the food felt a step above what I typically experience in U.S. hotel lounges. Everything was fresh, elegant, and thoughtfully prepared. The fitness center was also impressive. It spans two levels, with one floor dedicated to cardio equipment including rowing machines, bicycles, and treadmills, along with free weights and strength-training equipment. It was well maintained and more than adequate for travelers looking to keep up with their workouts. Although I did not dine in the hotel's restaurant, I enjoyed breakfast each morning and was very impressed. There was an extensive selection of pastries, breads, fresh fruits, coffees, hot dishes, and local specialties. Every morning was a great start to the day. Our room was modern, spacious, and very comfortable. It featured a cozy sitting area with a sofa, an exceptionally comfortable bed, a large bathroom, and even a small balcony. The room felt luxurious while still being warm and welcoming. I would also like to give special recognition to Nicholas at the front desk. He truly made our stay memorable from check-in through check-out. Originally from Argentina, he was incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful. We enjoyed talking about soccer, the World Cup, and Argentina's upcoming matches. Beyond that, he took the time to recommend attractions, scenic viewpoints, and great places for photos around Vienna. His hospitality and genuine enthusiasm for helping guests stood out and added a personal touch to an already fantastic stay. Overall, our experience at Hilton Vienna Plaza was phenomenal. The combination of an excellent location, beautiful accommodations, outstanding lounge, great breakfast, and exceptional service made this one of the best hotel stays we've had in Europe. I would gladly stay here again and look forward to returning on a future visit to Vienna.

It is in a great location to many metro lines. Cons: The bed was unacceptable. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite, and the mattress was so hard it felt like sleeping on concrete. This was, without question, the worst bed we have ever experienced at a Hilton property. The hotel may claim it meets Hilton International standards, but if this mattress qualifies, those standards are extremely low. Despite being two Diamond members celebrating an anniversary and a birthday, there was zero recognition of our loyalty. No card, no note, no acknowledgment of any kind (They were made aware multiple times). This lack of basic personalization was disappointing. Breakfast was mediocre and nowhere near the quality offered at other Hilton properties. There was no made-to-order option, and if one existed, it was never mentioned. The lounge food was very poor and not something we would eat again. Communication was also lacking. The hotel only asked how our stay was at checkout, as we were walking out the door, rather than during the stay when issues could have been addressed. While mechanical issues in the room were eventually fixed, they should not have occurred in the first place. Overall: This hotel looks elegant, but the experience does not match the appearance. The service, comfort, and attention to loyal guests fall well short of expectations. A good-looking property means nothing when the bed is rock-hard and the guest experience is an afterthought. We left extremely disappointed.

The main entrance is the corner of Lisztstraße (yes Liszt street, as in the composer), and Am Heumarkt, and it's around the block from the Wiener Konzerthaus (Vienna Concert Hall), a 12 min walk to the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera House), a 7 min walk to Musikverein Wien (Vienna Music Society). Walking into the hotel, the first sight that greets you is a lush wall of velvet drapes, they're going for a kinda sleek bohemian vibe with dark floral accents mixed with brass-trimmed furniture and glass lighting. Check-in counters are to your immediate left as you turn, and the hotel lobby lounge with open seating is to the right. Past the lobby lounge is the main hotel restaurant that also serves as breakfast buffet in the morning. Heading upstairs the dark color scheme extends to the hallway and guest room walls. Inside the rooms are pretty spacious for a European hotel, with a focal wall of dark floral wall paper in an asymmetrical diamond arrangement along the wall farthest from the window. The flatscreen TV is wall mounted in the center of a glowing light fixture which seemed like an attempt to be artistic though felt a bit weird when actually watching TV. The thick blackout curtains did their job well and blocked out almost all light for a solid night's sleep. Pillows weren't the most comfortable and the bed was on the firmer side though comfortable enough. They have a pillow menu available but it costs over €15 if I recalll correctly so I decided not to get it, though was surprised bc a few diff hotels I've previously visit don't charge for this. My room had a king bed instead of two doubles and they did a decent job with turn down service on the day I had them come make up the room--on other days if you hang the "green earth friendly" door sign on the outside of your door before 10am each morning then they credit your loyalty program account* with a certain amount of points per day. Overall pretty clean though there was some grimy stuff inside the electric carafe when I was trying to make tea. When I called the concierge they initially said they would bring me another one, then came to my room and said they had none left. Two bottles of spring water (one sparkling, one flat) come complimentary with the room. Aside from aforementioned hot water carafe, other amenities include a safe, mini fridge (nothing inside), nespresso machine with coffee pods, tea bags, iron and ironing board, hairdryer. Bathroom toiletries are from L'Occitane and I really enjoyed their bright lemon and citrus fragranced body wash and shampoo. As other reviews mentioned, the design of the shower (while pretty) leaves much to be desired functionally. Why there is only glass to block half the side of a rainforest shower stall is confusing...there's no way to prevent water from splashing out into a small puddle. Even if you shower very deliberately away from the open side, it's hard to control the splash-age. The staff here was very cordial and seemed genuinely trying to help. My German is limited though it was fairly easy to communicate in English with the front desk staff. While not in the direct center of the historic district, it's about a 10-15 min walk to many attractions, and public transportation via metro, bus and trams is easily accessed 3-7 minutes away. Coming from NYC I found the location conveniently walkable and far enough from the louder touristy areas of town. Side note: during my stay I was able to order Uber here quickly, usually within 5 minutes. *As part of the Accor Hotel group, it's possible to sign up for their loyalty program where you can acrrue points towards benefits if you stay at various properties worldwide.

We found the room to be plenty big enough for two people, especially considering how small many other hotel rooms are in Europe. Each Sunday they put on a small concert for guests accompanied by a glass of champagne and pastries. A delightful way to experience a little bit of the musical culture of Vienna.

Because we were visiting the city during a heat wave, we decided to concentrate our activities in the morning and evening and were able to start our breakfast right at 6:30. We once even showed up perhaps 30 seconds before the official start time, and the staff welcomed us even though they still working hard to complete the process of setting up the food and drinks. It also helped that we got a very good deal that gave us 3 nights for the price of two.

Very disappointed…read more The tub is very slick but when I asked for a safety mat or rubber bath mat they said they didn't have one. The step down from the tub to the floor is quite steep but there is no safety handle or anything to hold on to. Seems very dangerous. There are no ice machines, even though there are places for them. You have to go all the way down to the bar to get ice. No electric outlets on one side of the bed. There are those awful card slots by the door for the electricity so when you come back to your room, the AC has been off for hours and it's hot and it takes hours to cool down again. While I was there, several youth sports teams checked in. Good for business. Full bookings. But no additional provisions were made for the breakfast buffet. The young people were like swarms of locust. Of course. Long lines and empty food containers. Really ridiculous. Generally not what I was expecting from Marriott.
