By far the best nail salon in Tucson that I have been to in a long, long time! I have lived here for 11 years and this salon and spa was an absolute gem of a discovery. The polish selections are stunning, the techs are so kind and knowledgeable, and the ambiance is beyond even my high expectations. Peter and Mai were so friendly, and I felt well taken care of during my visit to get a full acrylic set with chrome. While the polish selections were vast, I didn't even need to pick a color because Peter was able to pick out the color based on a picture that I showed him. I paid $15 for a manicure and my overall experience was average. I loved the music playlist, the prices are good, and the space is clean. The space isn't too well lit, but each station has lamps. The staff weren't very engaging or friendly. My manicurist hardly spoke to me, but instead kept speaking to her coworker. I would possibly return because of the location and good prices. They have taken such great COVID precautions and are currently doing by appointment only which I LOVE because I was the only one in there for a majority of the time. I really need to emphasize to the staff and owners that the reason I can't do 5 stars is because no one greeted us, no one smiled at us, not once, no chatting or "welcome in" or "thank you for coming." I should have known this wasn't going to be a good place when they messed up the appointment. My boyfriend's mother, who made the appointment, made it earlier in the morning clearly stating that two people wanted to get manicures and pedicures at the same time. Sadly, when we got there, they were incredibly confused and said one person could get a pedi as one could get a mani. We weren't about that and asked if there was a better time to come, frustrated on how this inconvenienced us. We came in 2 hours later and had our pedicures done next to each other, but for some reason our manicures were not side-by-side as requested. To make matters worse, I decided to do a gel manicure, which I don't do since I had bad experiences in the past. My boyfriend's mother assured me that they do a great job...so I listened and decided it couldn't hurt. It's been years since I've tried gel and her nails looked great! I was happy with the way they did my nails and my color, but 5 days after I got the gel manicure (I came on Saturday and around Wednesday I found it slightly chipped)...it peeled off! I go to Star Nails when my regular nail salon is closed on Sundays. They were really busy last Sunday but immediately accommodated my request to get a mani/pedi. A lot of the customers seemed to be regulars and the atmosphere was very friendly. Their prices were reasonable and even though they were very busy they didn't rush through the services. I would definitely recommend this nail salon and love that they are open Sundays. read more

I've had my nails done there before when I've vacationed in Tucson to visit my son and family. I'm particular about my nails so I was very pleased on how they did my gel manicure and they have a variety of nail colors that I love. This past March, I treated my son and his wife to a spa pedicure. I know I should've had mine done too because then the following days, all the nail and hair salons had to close due to the current pandemic. Now it is loud and too modern for me. The other four clients here at the time were all over 70 years of age. Wondering why the music changed? Wondering if other clients felt the same. I try really hard to not post negative reviews..but in my twenty five years getting pedicures..this was the worst....I called to ask how much a pedicure was first...I was told 26 dollars..I got there and they did the bait and switch...showing me that they actually had three pedicures...get this..the first one didn't include callous removal even though on the page he showed me..it said it did..he said it would be an additional 10 bucks..um.. no thanks...the guy was totally unfriendly and seemed angry....so unimpressed..go somewhere else..oh and yes..I wanted to walk out but didn't have the nerve...when I left I did tell him that the place was very unfriendly...I am down here looking at places.to buy and was hoping to find a good pedicure place..this isn't it... yikes..oh and the chairs with the massage were also the worst and most non relaxing chairs i had been in..this is a public service announcement! read more

We had a terrible experience. We made appointments but were still left to wait for more than 30 minutes. When we were finally put in a pedicure chair my husband got his while I waited another 15 minutes. The woman who did my gel pedicure used nippers to remote gel rather than soaking it off. Very clean and new nail salon. The ladies were polite and made nice conversation but I'm very disappointed with my gel nails. I already had gel nail polish on and the manicurist filed the top of my nails down even more to get the gel nail polish off making my nails feel very very brittle and fragile. Don't waste your money and time!I rude owner. went to this place because we just moved to this side of town. Person was doing my pedicure didn't know how to do the job. He dropped nail polish on my jeans and floor couple of times. Horrible pedicure. He put 6 code on my toes when I asked him it's too thick he tried to remove it and my whole sandals was red and full of nail polish around it which he couldn't remove. I didn't continue to do the whole pedicure and manicure. I showed owner my jeans and sandals but she charged me for whole $35 pedicure whiteout apologizing. I called her after I left and told her I'm an unhappy client which your charged me full price without apologizing and she said sorry but I think you walked with your sandals and that's the reason!! This place was good when it first opened. I always made an appointment for services. I started going there at end of June and every 3/4 weeks. I was among their first customers. I tried to make an appointment for yesterday but could not get a spit so we made the appointment with Libda for 3 pm today. When I arrived 5 minutes earlier she was doing a pedicure and said to wait. In town for business and needed a quick pedicure near where I had a meeting. I was pleasantly surprised by quality and prices! Definitely recommend - details below. The website lists the most basic pedicure as the deluxe, and for $45. But sign outside said grand opening with a special for $24.99. Inside I learned that there two pedicures for less than $45 - one for $26 (the one on special for $24.99) and one for $34. I also called the number listed on yelp many times but it was only ever busy. I went anyway and immediately got in without any wait. Needless to say, I'm not sure the website and yelp have all of the most recent info - kind of wonder if it's a re-opening with a new owner or something. The basic pedicure was exactly what I needed - I haven't had a pedicure in over a month, so my nails needed a lot of work and Larry did exactly what I needed very well! Unlike the occasional place I stumble upon during my business travel that ends up ripping my nails and skin, I had no moments of pain. The pedicure was done extremely professionally. The message with the pedicure was longer than most - always a plus. But quality was still a "you get what you pay for" kind of thing - not what you get at a full spa/day spa. Nice, of course, but nothing amazing. The color selections also were average - I only wear OPI and they only have two small shelves of OPI. But in my opinion, if that's the worse thing here you've still got a solid place! Chairs are super comfy but mine didn't have the back massage available - didn't even notice into the end, though, which is unusual for me. Overall, this is a very nice nail salon and would come back next time I'm in town (unlike another salon I've been to here in Tucson). read more

I came in this afternoon because I am super excited about having a nail salon next door to my apartment finally. I had the older gentleman do a full set with lite pink gel polish. He was very detailed and took his time to make sure they looked nice (I'm a maid of honor in my sisters wedding this weekend). I am very satisfied with my nails he made sure the acrylic is thick just like I like them and the polish color is beautiful. As I was leaving I was informed to take a gift with me which was a bottle of lotion in a pretty little sheer mesh Baggie. The lotion smells amazing. I am def going to let my lady friends know about this place. I did see a group of 8 ladies getting pedicures and it was nice to see them interact and the way the pedicure chairs were arranged looked convenient to where while they waited their turns they could interact and talk. I feel so lucky that Star Nails is so close to my home. But it is so nice that I would drive 10 miles to enjoy their relaxing environment and thoughtful, careful service. Clean, fresh, and welcoming.
