I was just here reading reviews, The Star of Hope is one of the best things God directed me to. It was motivational, inspiring and exactly what I need at the time-DISCIPLINE. When I completed my program I had all the tools I needed to start a successful God fearing life-self esteem, self sufficiency, glasses, dental just to name a few. I have been able to maintain staying clean of drugs, employment, automobiles and my own place. There are rules in place in every aspect of life, if you are willing Star of Hope is the place for you!!

The world needs more places like Medical Bridges. I often hear people say "what difference can I…read moremake?" and Medical Bridges shows you that every person can make a difference. Medical Bridges is a nonprofit organization (501c3 and all that good stuff) that gathers medical equipment that would be otherwise discarded and thrown away. They gather these materials from hospitals, doctor's offices, clinics, etc... Then they sort and package the supplies. Different clinics and hospitals in developing countries request supplies. Medical Bridges works really hard to fulfill their request in less than two months. They send everything from syringes, gauze, and bedpans to wheel chairs, gurneys, and filing cabinets. They fill huge shipping containers with supplies and send them around the world. It's a wonderful program for so many reasons. First, they are helping people in many other countries that couldn't get treatment because of a lack of supplies. Second, they are keeping materials out of our landfills by sending them to people who can use them. The materials they send aren't expired, they are just unable to be used by US institutions because of strict FDA guidelines. USA waste is other countries gains. When I toured their facility today, everyone there was extremely nice. They are organized, they have a training video that explains what volunteers do, and they had over a dozen people volunteering today. Volunteers can help as little as a few hours up to a life long commitment. As a volunteer, you get some basic training and then you sort supplies. Supplies come in disorganized and thrown into containers. You get to actually sort and package supplies that someone in another country will use to help treat the sick. I was really impressed with everything Medical Bridges does. The only confusing thing was how to get there. They are hidden in a warehouse district where 288 meets 610 south. They only function because volunteers help sort supplies, so think about calling and volunteering.

Great organization. Literally saving lives plus keeping med supplies out of landfills. I donated…read morehome medical equipment after a death in the family. They were very friendly and helpful. I was greeted right away and they offered to help unload my car and gave me a tax receipt. Happy knowing these items are going to a good cause and will help others.
