Darien knows his products. The crew was friendly and professional and Darien was onsite with them most of the time. After the job was done, he was eager to fix any minor problems that we identified. I'm very particular about such things, and I am quite satisfied. I noticed that another reviewer had trouble scheduling in the fall. We actually also did have a similar issue. But the thing is that seems to be a tradeoff you make you choose a company with a small crew and more oversight. When there are only a few guys and the boss is onsite with them, it's undoubtedly harder to keep schedules when things take longer than expected. If you're a massive company that has several crews and the boss is nowhere to be found, then it would probably be easier to always have the needed workers in place to do the job on schedule. Obviously, it makes things easier if schedules are kept, but even more important to me is getting a quality job.

He quoted the job over the phone on 12 May 2022 I should have been wary when he asked for half the money at the beginning of work and the balance upon completion. That's usually a sign of a workman who is not confident in his work. He and Kevin, his former partner, arrived on the job-site on 11 Jul 2022. That day they primed the cabinets; If you like sarcastic workman whom you let into your home, Mr. Shea is the painter for you. When I asked him how he could quote the job over the phone and not make any effort to come and see the job, neither meeting us first, nor providing a sample, he stated, "cause I'm that good." That day they were in such a hurry that they didn't TSP the cabinets and left a shelf and a portion of one cabinet not touched by primer. They left with the drawer fronts and cabinet doors. I sent him photos of the incomplete work and he said Kevin would return the next day and prime what was missed and apply the first coat of the finish. Kevin did spend some time the next day and was good enough to move the refrigerator out so that he could paint the alcove, after I asked about it, but it was not primed first. Next day was the third day on the job and by the end of it there were many major blemishes: orange peeling, tear-drop drips as well as drips of paint on the stove, This was another day that they bum-rushed the job. When I sent him a photo, he was kind enough to tell me how I could clean it off the stove. Needless to say, I left it for him. When Mr. Shea came to re-install the doors and drawer fronts, I showed him my concerns, and to his credit, he did address them. I payed him and he left. I am still adjusting door fronts and completing the touch-ups associated with the rubbing of the doors and drawers because they were not properly installed (European hinges). I payed the man, but I would not recommend anyone let him do their cabinets. He's probably a good exterior painter; but, I thought the old saying was that "painters make their money inside." I'd grade this job a solid C.

Initially I had received a quote from another painter, but the deal fell through when I asked for a breakdown of his estimate. Seeing that Prime Coatings is recommended by the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, I decided to give them a call and I am so glad I did! First of all, Scott, the Vice President immediately responded to my phone call and was so pleasant to work with. Scott is very quick to respond to phone calls, texts, and email. He came out to provide an estimate and scope of work within a few days and took meticulous notes and measurements. We received our detailed, itemized contract very soon thereafter. All the pricing was very reasonable, which included the cost of the paint. Their standard paint is Benjamin Moore Regal Select, which is probably the best paint manufacturer. The following week Scott arrived with his foreman Eric, as well as his crew members, Steve and John. Eric, Steve, and John worked tirelessly over two days to complete our painting project. This was impressive, given that they patched and painted two coats on walls and trim for a hall with staircase, three doors and frames, a guest bedroom, and a living room which included repainting a slanted popcorn ceiling. The crew was clean, professional, courteous, and very thorough. They were very accommodating of our pets and were kind enough to replace light bulbs in a fan that is hard to access and even dusted it for us! We were incredibly impressed by the quality painting and patching work. Our closing got moved a few times and Kyle was always accessible to discuss a change in start date and was flexible with us for scheduling. Kyle was extremely helpful with design decisions. He offers lots of expertise regarding colors, etc. he was always available to discuss options and provide samples. Kyle's crews completed all of the contracted work in 14 days! It was unbelievable how hard they worked (day and night) to get all of the work completed. It truly transformed our entire home! We would highly recommend the services provided by Kyle and his crews. Some tips for working with this vendor - Make sure to review the scope of the contract with Kyle in detail. There was some miscommunication regarding whether our finished basement space was included in our contract which stipulated all interior surfaces that cropped up on day 9 of the work. Kyle made this right and his crews painted this room, as well, but it required some discussion. If you are on a tight time table we would recommend checking in on the property regularly and touching base with Kyle on the timeline and being clear on when you need the work to be done. He often reminded us that the work being done would take other contractors 2 months to complete when it seemed we were getting close to our "drop dead" move in date and the work may not be 100% wrapped. While this reminder was well intentioned we selected this contractor because he indicated the work could be done in 9 to 15 days as contracted.
