After driving in to town from Los Angeles, I told my husband I wanted to grab a couple of coffees before going to his office, but I wanted to support a small shop instead of going in the the grocery store where they have a coffee chain kiosk inside. I believe in supporting small business! We had tried to visit Old Isabella Coffee twice before, but it was later in the afternoon and they were closed. I decided to give them a pass and try again since it's earlier. But today, we arrived before 1pm and parked. I went up the stairs to their entry door and it seemed very dark inside. The door was locked, and only then did I realize the blinds were closed. I checked the posted hours and they close at 1pm daily, but apparently they closed early on this day. A Friday, in a town that often leans on "weekenders" for increased business volume. While looking for the posted hours I saw the very friendly sign which shows a revolver pointing forward so you can look down the barrel of the gun and they proudly announce that there's nothing inside worth dying for. How warm and inviting! Well I, for one, was really looking forward to an amazing coffee beverage "to die for".. but now I know this won't be my place locally. I've tried 3 times and found myself alone at their place of business. In retrospect, the 3 ladies at the Starbucks inside the Vons store had a LINE of people waiting to buy coffee, snacks and lunch. As I joined the line, I casually said "I guess this is the place for great coffees in town!" and two of the guys in line said "they're reliably open, the service is great and have decent hours during the day". They were wearing yellow vests, maybe guys working on the street improvements or employees from SCE? If i owned a small business in a small town, i would definitely be pandering to just this type of customer. Extend operating hours, offer discounts to these contractors to bring them in daily! The guys said they're at Starbucks more than once a day, every day. That's a lot of opportunity lost to the little, local guy. So while I'm not usually a Starbucks person, when in KRV apparently they will be my go-to from now on. I tried to support local, but wasn't getting the support in return.

Unfortunately this was the only coffee shop around. Lattes were 0/5 literally don't know if it's their beans, not knowing how to dial in a shot, or their staffs skill or lack of. They get away with it in a small town I guess.Not spending my money here ever again. I'd prefer making instant coffee with river water at my campsite and it'll taste better-- without the dose of barista attitude from the older woman making drinks.

My daughter got addicted to this place on a recent camping trip…read more It all started when my daughter went shopping during the day while most of our group was out risking our lives white water rafting. When we came back I could see something had changed in her. Instantly she starts to tell the group about this coffee spot she found. She started mumbling something about going back. It was her wide open eyes when she spoke that threw up the most curiosity. We agreed to have their coffee the next morning. She was bummed out and continued to bring up that place several more times that night. The next morning we sent a few from our group to go and get coffee for our large group. When they returned my daughter was thrilled. We all tried our different coffees and sampled some of the others and none of them tasted bad, even the caramel one was ok. That's right caramel is not a tasty drink, I said it. I drove by the place and it looked nice and clean but I never stepped in or encountered any employees. I just really enjoyed the coffees I tried but thank goodness I didn't get addicted like my poor daughter.

If you're passing through Wofford Heights or camping in the area, please stop at the Kern River…read moreValley Art Association. There's no line for coffee. Staff are all volunteers working to raise funds for a new art center next door. Everywhere in town was slammed with long lines and wait times. If you're looking for quick coffee, this is worth going a few minutes out of the way.

We stopped in at Dam Korner and they were able to deliver. In that time frame, we were able to order, get our food and enjoy it at a relaxing pace. We were one of the only ones in there so they were super attentive and quick. They have a pretty big menu of options. My colleague is vegetarian but he still had plenty to choose from. This is a big portions kind of spot. Nothing crazy or special but does the job. What's most funny is that we came during the middle of the week during lunch time and the music was bumping. I thought I was back in middle school at an 8th grade dance the way they were playing 00s r&b and rap music. It made us smile!

This is clearly a popular local spot, as seen by the regular customers greeting one another, but it also offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere for tourists. There were no issues with ordering or the food. Portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable to fair, especially considering its remote location. Service was prompt, with no major delays. The bathroom is for one customer at a time, but it was surprisingly clean. I would definitely come here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area or passing through. This time I stopped in for lunch and got the Rueburger and onion rings. Both were excellent! But the best thing I've had here so far is their homemade ranch. A few groups came in while we were there and everyone greeted her by name! The donuts were delicious! So fresh, tender and flavorful. Worth every single calorie! In addition to the donuts, they had a counter filled with croissants.. some with sausages, some with Ham & Cheese and there was also a Ham, Cheese & Jalapeño option! They list them as "kolaches" on the menu. They're not the traditional Czech/Slovak style.. but I'm sure they're wonderful! It's definitely worth a stop if you're looking for tasty treats.
