Passed through because of camping in area. Vibes were off not sure because it was 30 mins before close but we just came in for quick drinks and it wasn't busy at all. Unfortunately this was the only coffee shop around. Lattes were 0/5 literally don't know if it's their beans, not knowing how to dial in a shot, or their staffs skill or lack of. They get away with it in a small town I guess.Not spending my money here ever again. I'd prefer making instant coffee with river water at my campsite and it'll taste better-- without the dose of barista attitude from the older woman making drinks. read more

Food was delicious. My kid had the burrito and I ordered eggs bacon and toast and food was great. Drinks were great too.

This is a perfect spot to make a stop and grab a bite, coffee, wine, sweet treats, honey and some reallyyyyy good sandwiches. Real nice workers and make you feel very welcome. There is a bathroom to use if you're a customer. You might find some little ducks walking around outside, fun to see! read more

This is the second time I've stopped in for a coffee. Both times I had a very negative experience, so I finally decided to leave a review. Both times the different staff working have been incredibly rude. Annoyed and bothered by paying customers is a strange business model! I ordered a $7 iced latte with cold foam. My total was $11.40? Apparently the cold foam is $3+?? When I heard the total I said "Oh my" and the unpleasant grumpy woman taking my order responded with an overly aggressive "What!" I just stated I wasn't expecting that total. I still tipped but regret doing so. The drink wasn't even mixed. Flavor at the bottom, some sort of weird residue on the sides of the cup and a little bit of deflated unflavored foam. I looked at it for a second and a second worker was standing there glaring at me. The first one said "I made it exactly how you asked". I asked if I had done something to be treated so rudely from the moment I walked in? They both stared at me. I turned around and walked out. The drink was watery and mediocre. Went across the street to Sequoia Bakery where they smiled and said Hello immediately. Much better service. Much better coffee! Save yourself the negative vibes and bleh coffee! Avoid this establishment and treat yourself across the street at Sequoia Bakery instead!! read more

This place seemed great. I had ordered an ice cream for my son. We went outside to enjoy our ice cream and people were smoking. I have serious health issues and I went inside as they had blocked off the tables (I assume because they were no longer serving food). So I went inside and I asked the staff about people smoking and they said yes they are able to smoke in their outside seating area. For people like me with respiratory issues it causes issues and thankfully most places don't allow it. In addition it is illegal but if an establishment allows it, then they do. As a result I won't be back because it impacts my health. :( read more

The food was good, but the service from a particular employee, young, brunette, plus sized and clearly very miserable and depressed was the only downside and downer to our wonderful weekend in Kernville. When we ordered our food and beverages from the kind cashier, she reassured us that if we did not like the matcha latte, she would replace or remake it. When we didn't really like the matcha, we brought it back to the pickup counter to change our drink, was where we encountered the hunched back ball of negative & miserable energy, replied with a scowl and grimace laced with passive aggressive sociopathic rage that replacing or remaking the beverage was not an option. It was unsettling and disturbing. Please beware of this beast of a human when entering this establishment. read more

Precious little Kernville gem I'm a local and get my lunches and beverages from here often. They have such a good selection, friendly staff and the decor is super cute and cozy. Today I got the Cold Cut Sandwich and a 1/2 Green 1/2 Passionfruit ice tea, both were delicious! In the peak season lines can get a little crazy, but thats cuz everything is so good. The cookies here are absolutely delicious!! I stumbled upon this little cafe in Kernville and love it. It has a huge dining area that is decorated so comfortably. There are a lot of used books in the front that you can purchase to support a local school. They have a variety of coffee beverages and treats as well as prepared food. I ordered a matcha latte, which was made well and a few cookies. When I took the cookies home, my family loved them. They were real standouts and everyone was so impressed by them! This was an incredible find! We were heading out of town and stopped here for coffee and breakfast. The coffee was absolutely tasty! I had the "dirty bear" which was perfectly made and delicious. My son had a hot chocolate which he absolutely loved and my hub really enjoyed the black coffee. We tried the protein burrito and loved it! Perfectly sized and tasty!!! We also tried the cinnamon roll and couldn't get enough of it! Our son tried the breakfast sandwich with bacon on a bagel and he said it was really good. The service was good, it did take a little while to get our food but it was Memorial Day weekend. But they were so friendly and nice. The store is absolutely cute and they have a small bar area for drinks later on in the day. There were spaces for games or just sitting and enjoying the music and the view of the town. Kernville's food scene is small but full of gems like Big Blue Bear! It's spacious with a rustic cabin feel. We loved our sandwiches, the BLTA and Panini. Their craft coffees, so delicious!! There are even craft cocktails like espresso martinis. Service is friendly and welcoming. You just can't be in a rush and go with the "good food takes time" support small business mentality. Slow down, enjoy your food and experience, and you'll be going back like we will. There are cute t-shifts, snacks, pastries and wine. Super cute small cafe in Kernville. Lots of street parking min the front. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the Lox bagel no lox but it sill came out with the lox so I just picked it off. My fiancé and I had a really disappointing experience at Big Blue Bear in Kernville, CA. I ordered three drinks (two coffees and one matcha). The woman at the register (blonde hair) was very sweet and helpful as I decided what to get -- that was the only positive part of the visit. When our order was ready, we noticed that the woman who had ordered after us had picked up our matcha, took the lid off, and actually sipped it. She then complained to the barista that it wasn't made correctly. While this was happening, I realized we were missing our matcha and said so. Instead of remaking it, the barista tried to hand us the same drink that someone else had already tasted. My fiancé politely asked for a new one. The barista seemed confused by the request, then told us we were "weird" for asking. After a dismissive "whatever," she begrudgingly remade the drink. What made it worse was overhearing her loudly talking to her coworker about how "weird" my fiancé was for requesting a new drink -- while we were still standing there. When I confronted her, she doubled down with rude comments. At that point, the interaction had gotten so disrespectful that we left. She even made a gesture at me as we walked out the door. On top of that, the drinks themselves were not good. The coffees were bitter and unbalanced, and the matcha tasted off -- which made the whole incident even more frustrating, especially since the matcha seemed premade and should not have been an issue to remake quickly. I very much regret tipping here. While the first woman at the counter was kind, the barista who made our drinks (younger, glasses) was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Basic customer service should include remaking a drink that a stranger has already sipped from -- without attitude. I would not recommend this coffee shop to anyone. read more

Kinda pricey for what you get. The Bloody Mary was soooo spicy and i asked for a medium spice after they asked me spicy, medium or mild. The burrito was sooo small and was sooo expensive for what it was. Didn't taste good at all and the salsa on the side was pace picante or some equivalent of it. I won't be eating here again. read more
