Both times we wanted to try the sandwiches and more, but we never got there early enough to try everything we wanted to because they always sold out. I had been to the Batignolles location several times in the past, but this location is much smaller with just a little bit of tight seating inside plus 2 tables outside that could seat up to 3 people comfortably each. We got lucky and managed to snag one of the outdoor tables. One of my friends ordered the hot chocolate while the other got a chai latte and an espresso. I ordered a decaf iced latte as I was pregnant at the time. When ordering we did have some discussion with the employee as my friend who ordered the chai initially wanted a dirty chai, which the employee explained was just not done there because they have a special chai spice blend that is not well served by adding espresso. When my friend ordered an espresso on the side with the pretty obvious intention of dumping it in himself, the employee looked pained enough that we promised to try both separately before doing any mixing. In the end, the employee was right and my friend conceded that the chai was really wonderful on its own. He described the flavor as being more cardamom heavy than a typical chai and enjoyed it so much he got another one later that afternoon when we returned to Batignolles. Meanwhile, the hot chocolate was really rich and delicious, not too sweet as it was made from a dark chocolate. The elaborate unicorn " latte art " was a nice touch that my friends and I really appreciated. While the drinks were beyond reproach, the service was a bit slow and the space is super tiny so it's more of a takeaway spot. If you're a coffee or tea aficionado, this café (along with its other locations in Paris) is a must-try.

There are a few locations of Terres de Café in Paris of differing sizes and this one in Batignolles has the perfect amount of seating and cozy atmosphere to read a book or meet with friends. On weekdays it's a nice and comfortable place to work on your laptop, provided you have your own hotspot (no WiFi here), and on weekends when computers are not allowed the ambiance is much more familial and lively. The coffee is high-quality and the employees are very knowledgeable about the beans and flavor profiles. I've enjoyed all the drinks I've had here, with my usual being a simple latte. They also sell coffee beans and Nespresso pods to go. The pastry selection is typically limited to banana bread, brownies, and cookies as they are much more focused on the coffee, but I found them to be really good anyway. The staff are friendly and make an effort to get to know their regular customers, and the café is very friendly to families and children especially on weekends. The café is conveniently located in Batignolles near plenty of other shops as well as the Mairie.

I immediately knew I was in the right place when we arrived - the cafe appeared as if it were in a snapshot from another era. From the window, I spotted an impressive display of jewel-toned jellied fruits and a coffee counter where you could purchase fresh beans and jams. The cozy seating area had a few tables set close together, and we were fortunate to be seated at the last open table. I ordered the cafe au lait, and my mom ordered the cafe glacé. The cafe au lait was brought out in an espresso mug and a pot of steamed milk - this way, you could add the desired amount of milk to your espresso. The espresso tasted smooth, and the milk was whipped to the perfect cloud-like consistency. I also tried a sip of my mom's cafe glacé, which was sweet and refreshing (the iced option also comes with a side of simple syrup). As a finishing touch, each beverage was delivered with a small square of chocolate. While pricier than a coffee at a typical cafe, this was one of the best cafe au lait I have ever tasted and worth every Euro. After savoring our coffee, we tried a few of the jellied fruits, which were sweet as honey and very decadent. Since it was the first bite of the day, he ordered the slice of toasted brioche with butter and homemade jam, while I ordered the bread basket with butter and jam. Their jam was amazing and grape I think, based on the seeds, color, and light taste. The butter was served warm with one small baguette of white and a square ciabatta roll that tasted like wheat. They sell jams, honey, cookies, coffee beans, and teas to go, and are in no hurry to rush you out of there. Enjoy the drinks, relax, and take your time.
