What I DO remember is this: This particular day brought intermittent rain, which was especially stressful with two toddlers in tow. We walked to Iris in hopes of finding a dry spot to sit for awhile as our accommodations weren't ready for us quite yet. Upon arriving, we realized the door was locked and they'd closed up a few minutes before. However - when the staff saw us, they promptly invited us in. I protested because we wanted to stay awhile, not just grab and go, and they met my protests with warm hospitality. We ended up staying and playing for at least an hour or more while they cleaned the space, and kept inviting other shelter-seeking customers into their business as well. I was truly so delighted and relieved by their kindness. Not to mention their coffee is TRULY excellent. Roasted in house, served up by a knowledgeable staff who truly loves what they do, and so many creative rotating seasonal offerings. We ended up getting to chat briefly with the owner when we overheard her mention our favorite coffeeshop from our home town. So many cool little connections and crossovers. We've made it a point to go out of our way to visit any time we can, and every time we've experienced the same warm hospitality and excellence.

She gave me the WiFi password, there were plenty of outlets, and everyone there seemed genuinely happy to be there. I got a lot of work done and was so grateful I gave Smokey Row a second chance!

Here's the incredible cupcakes I got: White Wedding Cake. Maybe that sounds boring, but this is a classic cake packing amazing flavor. The cake is moist, so soft and silky with that excellent almond wedding cake flavor that just amazes your taste buds. Incredibly delightful and delicate. Ultimate Strawberry. Ultimate Strawberry my as$! This should be named Ultimate Crack cupcake. It's not your ordinary strawberry cupcake. Made with crushed strawberries, combined with strawberry buttercream, the cupcake melts in your mouth. However, it doesn't mention how addictive the flavor is. Such an amazing strawberry cake! The sleeper, chocolate chip cookie dough with chocolate cake. Filled with cream and cookie bites in the center and topped with vanilla buttercream more cookie dough bites and mini chocolate chips. I always worry chocolate will be dry, not this cake. I know somebody will say that I am comparing, however I am not, I am just describing. The flavor reminded me of a hostess cupcake with the cream center on steroids. So much more flavor, the chocolate, cream, and then the cookie dough bites. Wow, just incredible. Moist cake with that cream center is just a comfort food classic that just brings you back to being a kid. Man I love cupcakes and this one just made me smile like the strawberry.
