So obviously staff might have changed, but I found the female staff were fabulous and very knowledgeable. First, on my list was to get an Osprey backpack to hike Scotland. The saleswoman was fabulous, asking me all sorts of questions to determine my precise needs. She helped fit me into the right one and I got the color I wanted. In the end I was very happy (and still am) with my Osprey Kyte 48. The tent store is a different story. There were two salesmen in the tent store, one was a condescending prig even if knowledgable. The other salesman, was completely pleasant, patient and knowledgeable. I wanted a light weight tent and he went through all their stock to help me find what I needed, even showing me in the catalogue what was available. I ended up not buying because it just wasn't in my budget at the time. Ultimately, it comes down to who you get, but I'd shop here again, when I am in Paris, which is probably in the next couple of months.

They thought that because we were Americans that we didn't understand French, and talked about us the entire time we were in the store. They were even rude enough to ask if I understood, then proceeded to continue talking about us when I didn't respond to them. Spend your money elsewhere. Hopefully another store will have decent humans working there.

Ok, imagine a shop that sells a tight-selection of super stylish, comfortable shoes, from boots and strappy heels to slip on flats and chunky pumps at affordable prices. Already, I've got you hooked right? Now add to that the fact that all of the shoes are made in Paris in an atelier in the 11th. Not only is that impressive, but so outrageously rare. Aside from super exclusive artisans creating custom shoes that cost a month's rent, it's impossible to find locally-made shoes at real-people prices. Now, as if that weren't enough, get ready for the icing on the cake. ALL of the models can be customized for no extra fee at all. So, if you love that pair of peep-toe pumps but want them in emerald green in stead of pink, Taher Mardini can make that happen for you. I took advantage of the sales and bought myself the perfect pair of black boots at 30% off the ticket price. They are amazingly beautiful and super comfortable and cost 1/4 of the price of a pair of designer boots made who knows where in the world. I'm totally eying a pair of ankle books that I plan on ordering in one of the 50 or so different colors that you could choose from. Never owned a pair of red boots and I think that I totally need that experience in my life. Oh, I forgot to mention that they'll also recreate a pair of your favorite beat up shoes for you too!
