What a fun place! On Grand Isle this is clearly the place where the elite meet to greet and eat after Sunday church! I've been a few times and never had a bad meal. I've dined with groups and -- despite the challenges this imposes on the kitchen and waitstaff -- had great meals. I've dined alone and had great meals. Starfish seems to be able to do it all. Couple of tips: 1) Do *NOT* skip the onion rings. You'll thank me later. 2) They have an ATM inside, but they also will take a credit or debit card. This confused some of my group members. My only complaint is to be ready to wait if you come here. We sat down before 9:30 PM on a Friday and didn't get our food until after 11. It does state on the menu to be prepared to wait up to 45 minutes for your order so it's only fair. Small place with a lot of seating, pretty nice menu. Went ahead and got the roast beef poboy, it lacked gravy a bit, and meat a lot. We love visiting the starfish while on our summer trips to grand isle. We literally dream about the corn nuggets!!! They are to die for. We made a weekend trip for the 4th of July and half the island was closed, which was surprising to us. We came Tuesday at lunch to starfish and it was packed! There was only 2 waitress, so we waited a long time for service. These ladies were running their butt off though! There was only one table available when we walked in and it was dirty. We sat down and within minutes someone came clean the table for us. She told us it would be minute and she was not lying lol. We sat for about 10 minutes with no menu, drinks, or service for awhile but we watched these ladies run around so busy so it was no issue. We got our drinks. The Dr. Pepper was flat, but we were scared to ask of another because it took so long to get the first one. We kept looking at the people around us, who got here way before we did, and they were just getting their food. When we finally got our food, it was absolutely worth the wait! The corn nuggets were just as I remembered them. So creamy and the ranch pairs perfect with them. The boudin egg rolls were also great. As our meal, we got the soft shell crab special with a seafood gumbo. The soft shell was awesome flavored. The gumbo was okay. It was lukewarm and the potato salad was not very good at all. No flavor. Overall, I will always return to the Starfish restaurant because those dang corn nuggets!! I can not get enough. Went on a trip down to Grand Isle with a friend and spent the day chatting on the beach. It was great. After we went over to Starfish for dinner and it was way beyond expectations. I ordered the gumbo and an oyster poboy and both were delicious. The gumbo was good and the oysters were great and plentiful at a price that cant be beat. This is actually one of the few places left to eat at on Grand Isle, good news is it's pretty good. Its your basic beach side menu place with very informal seating but the staff is very down-home, its a little like eating at your aunt Bettys, everyone seems to know everyone or at least pretends to. The gumbo is very good here as are most of the things I've tried over the years. Solid portions and lots of big boned boys eating here. The burger is very good however be sure to tell them your temp preference as otherwise the standard is pretty well done. A terrific place for lunch! read more

The gumbo smelled really goood! We got the seafood platter and it was... not great. It wasn't flavorful.. it just wasn't good. My friend came here before and said the burger wasn't great either.. can't say, but the fries were flimsy so I have to assume most of the food isn't great just because ours wasn't. The "nachos" were chips with cheese poured over them. Even the salad had the dressing that came in a fast food restraint container. Meh. Skip it for another place. read more
