This is a small town cafe with friendly service and good values food. I had the fish Po'Boy and my companion had the soft shell crab Po'Boy. Mine, the fish was delicious with fresh fish and "the works" on a tasty bun. The shift shell crab, I was told was tasty but the shell wasn't crispy--more tough and difficult to bite through. That meant peeling off the shell. I was told it still tasted good, but maybe pass on the soft shell crab another time. We both enjoyed the sweet potato fries. read more

When you walk in the menu is on a chalkboard, they do not have paper menus. I did find out later they have an online menu that is mostly the same as the chalkboard. We started out with the crab dip. It was honestly really good, I was hesitant at first but it surprised me. For their wings they only have bone-in. They were able to split the order into half of one flavor and half of another. The chicken was cooked very good. I didn't love the garlic parmesan sauce. My dad liked the buffalo sauce. The fries were good, not great. The service was friendly. The dining area was very small but there is an outside area you can also sit at. read more

False advertising. "Restaurant" with full bar... "seafood restaurant"... this is a BAR that serves food. Tried to go eat here with my kids since there is only 2 places to eat on the entire island... you have to be 18 or older to get in. "Bar room that serves food" might be a better advertising approach. We wanted to see the "end of the road," and stopped at Yum's for some yummy grub. I ordered shrimp po boy - I stick with the reliable. The sweet potato fries were SO. GOOD. server was really sweet( you could tell it was popular because it was packed! Dad got the catfish and said it was delicious. I forget what mom got but we all loved the food. Grand Isle is a cute place to check out! I would definitely recommend Yum's; it is almost like a diner atmosphere. Their menu is good and the food is also great. Very reasonable and quick! read more

We ate here on Friday of Tarpon Rodeo weekend. The hamburger was huge, juicy, and cooked well. It came with regular or sweet potato fries. The meal was filling and delicious. They seemed to be short on wait staff bc there was only one waitress serving tables and cleaning 32 people. But the food was very good; I would definitely visit this restaurant again. read more

Excellent food and service! Not fancy, but top-notch flavor and a delightfully friendly staff. The best creamed grits and croissant sandwich ever! The coffee is Community - my favorite, and the ingredients are fresh. There is parking around back and an outdoor patio for large groups. The building is old but well maintained and clean. I passed this place on the way to see the end of Route 1 (stupid, time wasting day trip). Made a mental note to stop on the way back. I had passed A LOT of small eats places on Route 1 on the way, but this place from the outside looked inviting. Parked on the side and came in. I was greeted by the waitress, cashier (maybe owner, I don't know), and ordered a Sprite, went to washroom.it was big for a small place, but no hand towels, and the toilet paper was on its last couple a sheets (check these items, restaurant people!!). It was clean and had a full soap container. THE FOOD: I ordered the corn chowder, crab bisque. It was kinda small, but full of crab flavor, nice consistecy, and corn in it. Came with a grilled toast. Excellent start. The crab po-boy was 21 bucks, so my second choice was a shrimp po-boy. Boy, it was good. One of the best I've had. Now I'm not saying I'm a po-boy pro, but I've had quite a few. The bread was tasty, didn't crumble, lightly grill toasted. The shrimp was medium sized, but there were a lot of them. Lightly breaded, and not greasy, but done JUST enough. Sometimes a mistake I notice from some places are the shrimp are thrown on straight from the fryer, making the bun soggy and greasy, the mayo congealed, and... just a greasy mess to eat. This was not the case here. The right amount of mayo to taste, but not glop all over the place. Lettuce and tomato, again the right amount. I told the waitress it was one of the best I've had. There were only a few people eating there so maybe the cook had time to make it JUST RIGHT. I don't know the reason, it just was. Fries were skinny fries, hot, and good. It was about $22 bucks (I think the bisque was almost 6 bucks), plus tip, but I was satisfied. Staff was friendly. Some parking, but not a whole lot. Clean tables. read more

Ordered the crab cake salad, the crab cake Reuben, and the Soft Shell crab quesadillas between the three of us. Food was nothing fancy but satisfying. Crab cakes were flavorful and filling and the quesadilla was fresh. Good for a quick bite while passing through Grand Isle. read more

Really enjoyed breakfast here while on a trip to Grand Isle. It's nothing fancy, but the service was quick and friendly. We felt like locals chatting and watching the morning news on the TV on the wall. Coffee was good and hot. I had basic eggs, grits, bacon and a biscuit. All very tasty. Overpriced and overcooked. Had the corn and crab bisque. It was bland and you couldn't even taste the crab, and it was chowder, not bisque. The softshell crab po boy was cooked in dirty grease and was over cooked. The menu said market price which ended up being $25....for a sandwich. Lesson learned. Next time something says market price, ask what that price is. There is also a softshell crab platter on the menu, but not at market price. You get 2 crabs for what they charged us for one on some bread. Complete rip off and unethical. Guess that's why the place was empty. read more

Stopped here for a late lunch on 3/20/2017 during our day trip from New Orleans to Grand Isle State Park. Delicious and authentic food in a small cinder-block cafe with concrete floors. Not very crowded on a Monday afternoon during the off-season, so we were seated and served quickly by a friendly waitress happy to answer questions about the food and the area. Looked like a mix of locals and tourists coming in and out - some to visit with the staff. We enjoyed the philly cheese steak and shrimp po-boy (a surprisingly good combo!) and fish sandwich. Fries were excellent - not too greasy or salty. Sadly, they were already out of the homemade bread pudding desserts - maybe next time! read more

Not sure how this place has good reviews. Ordered food. Took almost 40 minutes....they forgot the order. The apology from the waitress was full of bad attitude. Food came out cold. Others who came in prior to us had their food before we did. To top it off, my son had a big long dirty blonde hair in his sand which. That was enough. Got up and left. Will never return. read more

Wonderful food, great service and staff! They even had gluten free options for me! I had the fried shrimp, sweet potato fries, side salad and shrimp and corn chowder. It was amazing! My husband enjoyed their fried oysters as well. The hush puppies aren't gluten free but my husband enjoyed them since he can eat them. I'm so excited to go back and try other menu items. read more

We used to live in Louisiana so when hurricane Irma came to Florida our new home we made a run for it and came here to Grand Isle to see our amazing friends. We decided to have lunch at Yums... there food is ALWAYS amazing, but what touched our hearts more along with our great bisque soup, burgers, lunch special and melt sandwich was the kind gracious employee Tony!... she was cheerful, smiley and just a pleasure! Really enjoyed the food here. Shrimp tacos were amazing and our little one devoured the grilled cheese sandwhich! Roast beef po boy was also good, but my main complaint was the amount of time it took to get the food. They weren't super crowded, but the staff seemed a little overwhelmed. With a baby in tow, he got pretty fussy waiting so long (about 40 minutes I think), but the waitress kept checking on us, so that was nice. Would definitely eat here again, but would hope for quicker service! read more

Wonderful breakfast, and awesome dinner!! We had a dinner and we enjoyed great and fresh food, especially the sea food. It's not fatty fried but very tasty and with a lot of choice, from meat, fish and crab burger to shrimp tacos and soups. The staff is awesomely kind and nice. We enjoyed also home made fresh cakes! So we went back for breakfast the day after and the breakfast menu is also super great: french toasts, pancakes, omelettes... and always super nice people. This is a good choice when visiting Grand Isle. The restaurant is clean and bright, and the staff is helpful and very friendly! We did a take out breakfast on Sunday. Hot, fresh King cake and great coffee. On Monday, we had lunch here. Grilled shrimp club was to die for! Hamburgers were very good. Tea and coffee refills were timely. This is a fishing community so I had high hopes for the Seafood Gumbo. The waitress told us about it although it wasn't on the menu. Well, instead of Seafood Gumbo, I was served something like Sausage Water. It seemed like they didn't have enough Gumbo for all of us and used way too much water to stretch it. At any rate, after one spoonfuI I explained this to the waitress and she promptly removed it from the table. The waitress then asked if I would like to try something else, so I chose another item. The problem arose when both items were placed on my bill. When I stated to the manager that I shouldn't have to pay for both, she threatened to call the police. Well, who wants to deal with the police over some Sausage Water? So I paid AND left a 25% tip. Now, had the police been called they may have done a taste test and decided to lock her up instead. But anyway, if the manager had a problem with me sending the food back, it seems like the fair thing to do would have been to tell me they were going to charge me for it anyway. Then I would have just paid for the Sausage Water and ate elsewhere instead of taking another risk. Item number two was good though, but I'll never eat there again because of the appalling behavior. read more
