I don't always trust reviews, but I should have on this one. Took us an hour and a half to get our food. Food was mediocre and overpriced. The fried food was fried about 10 minutes too long . Environment was loud ! Service was horrible.! They brought me my check, it was correct and then they ran my card with somebody's bill that was $100 more than mine. Thankfully, I paid attention and they corrected the mistake. The mashed potatoes were good! I would not recommend. The food at the Starfish just up the street was amazing though. read more

I came with a group of about 15 people. Usually with a group this large the service can be hit or miss. And the food is generally blah because it puts a lot of strain on the kitchen all at once. Surprisingly, our experience was fantastic. The food was hot, fresh, and obviously cooked to order. We started with appetizers for the table and they were really delicious. Then, the waitress went around the table taking orders. I don't think any two of my party ordered the same thing. (I started to feel really bad for the line cooks.) However, to my surprise, each order came out in sequence, perfectly cooked. Now granted, this is a seafood-oriented restaurant. But a lot of folks in my party ordered turf dishes. There was a pork sandwich that was reviewed as really tasty. My friend who had the chicken said it was cooked perfectly and juicy. I had a cheeseburger and fries, delicious all the way around. Those in my party who had the sweet potato fries were particularly impressed with how tasty they were. On a personal note, the shrimp cakes (which are like crab cakes, but with shrimp) were fantastic. And the ahi tacos, while sumptuous, are a little bit of a challenge to eat without making a mess. Overall, I really like this restaurant. It's on the water, it offers inside or outside dining, the prices are reasonable, and the food is first rate. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and the staff went out of their way to make sure every person in my party left full and happy. You charge high prices for a meal with no class servers. I ordered an appetizer for a meal to be brought out with my husbands meal. Well the server brought it out within 10 min. And said it's ready. I can't leave it back there it will get cold. I don't understand why it couldn't be ready when my husbands meal was ready to come out. Anyway. I went ahead and ate with out my husbands meal being there. Then 40 minutes later my husbands meal is still not out to the table. And the server had not had a clue. She was terrible. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. We walked into Hurricane Hole thinking we were about to have drinks with a view--not disappear into the abyss of neglect. We sat there for THIRTY. FULL. MINUTES. No menus. No water. No "hey y'all, be right with you." Not even eye contact from a single server. I've had better service from a vending machine. It honestly felt like we were ghosts. Maybe next time I'll bring a Ouija board just to get someone's attention. We weren't even mad--we were impressed. It takes talent to ignore a whole table so thoroughly. Overall pretty good, not much selection for restaurants on the island so this was one of the better ones. My husband didn't like the crab cakes, a bit bland. Wedge salad was okay, they give a large chunk of iceberg lettuce to cut apart yourself. Server was nice and attentive. We stopped in on a Wednesday night. The place was pretty crowded with the music playing downstairs. I ordered the Shrimp Plater with was extremely salty but it was ok. 4 of us went back again the following night. The waitress brought 3 side salads and 1 huge salad that we didn't order. Being nice, we decided to keep. I ordered the Rib Eye which was the fattiest steak I've ever had. Literally half the steak was fat! My brother in law ordered the fish dinner and specifically told the lady that he didn't want any sauce on it. They brought it out with the sauce. He told her that he didn't want it. They took it back but everyone else was already finished their food by the time he got his food. And the even got that order wrong, giving him sweet potato fries instead of mashed potatoes. I thought they would have offered a free drink from the bar or something to compensate for the long wait, but nothing. The waitress was wonderful and very sweet. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, it was fantastic. But the entrees were very unpleasant. The gumbo tasted like it had spoiled. Im pretty sure the ranch dressing was kraft. I ordered the drink special, I could not drink it. My husband ordered a grilled tuna steak, it was pan seared, literally pale white with no grill marks. A lovely spot in Grand Isle to have a dinner outside. We sat on their deck overlooking the marina and enjoyed the atmosphere after spending a day on the beach. The famous ahi tacos were fabulous and we all enjoyed our dinners, although it ended up being more fried food than our liking. who ever the older blonde lady is that's a server needs to go. she single-handedly is one of the worst servers I have ever seen in my life. The food is pretty good, a little over price for what it is but if the service was on point, I wouldn't even care about it. The other server seemed like she was on her toes and tending to her tables quickly. We waited hours last time to even get our food. Came back again and try this place one more time and literally a meal for two that should've taken an hour turned into a 2 1/2 hour ordeal with me having to get off and asking at the cashier stand to pay for my meal, which then took another 15 minutes to figure out. Whoever that blonde older lady is that works there really needs to go find something else to do. It's dragging your business under. Multiple other tables got off with me as I went to pay because everyone was waiting for their checks. she was busy slamming things down and rolling silverware when multiple people had asked for checks and change and she could not bother her self to do simple things like close out tables. also, don't expect your food to get there anytime quick, it's over 45 minutes to get anything that we order drinks or food and even follow up drinks took another 45 minutes. We read all the other yelp reviews, they were so mixed. We decided to give it a try. So glad we did. Waitstaff was spot on!! She could not have been friendlier. The tuna tacos !!!! They were so delicious. Hubby got the fresh grilled shrimp plater and I had the grilled scallops. Both meals had amazing flavor. Husband loves spicy gumbo so he thought the gumbo needed a little more kick. Side salads did not use iceberg lettuce which is a huge plus in my book. We will definitely stop by again!!n read more

We went here on our way out of Grand Isle and it was a great choice!! The crab cakes appetizer was SOOOOO good!! My boyfriend got the burger and he said it was very good as well, it also came with a good portion of bacon and not just two pieces. I couldn't decide on the shrimp or fish platter, and our server Roxie told me I could do half shrimp and half fish! We'd like to counter, or perhaps update earlier negative reviews of this place. As of April, 2019, we had a thoroughly positive experience here: service prompt and accommodating, drinks served within 5 minutes, nice varied menu, not everything fried. We almost stayed away because of prior reviews, but as someone said, there aren't many places to eat on Grand Isle, so we're glad we went for it. The bartender at Bridge Side Marina recommended this place to us and I'm so glad she did. She said it was more of a fine dining establishment. I guess what she meant was the food because the dress was casual, which was great because I didn't pack many cute clothes for a fishing weekend. We started off with the calamari. It was good. Not my fave. I didn't like the sauce that came with it. I felt like all I could taste was sesame oil. The dressings for the salads were all made in house and really tasty. I had cane vinaigrette, my dad had thousand island, and my husband had blue cheese. All were delicious. You get a little side salad with your entree. We ordered two of the fish specials which were grilled Mahi Mahi topped with a mango salsa and lump crabmeat. They were a little spicy but still really enjoyable. Even the vegetables and potatoes that came with the entrees were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I had the crab cakes which were delightful. I hate when you get a crab cake and it's minced meat. This one was lump and fried to perfection with a good Buerre Blanc sauce. The kids got to make their own pizzas. Kinda fun for them! Our waitress was nice and did a pretty good job waiting on us. She disappeared for awhile when my husband and I wanted drinks. She also brought our food out when they had not even begun to cook the kids. Sorry to say a nice looking restaurant served poor quality and slow, cold food. Fried oysters were brought out cold, same with the calamari and stuffed crabs. Calamari was greasy like they were fried a second time. Yuck!! Told waitress and she said she would bring back to kitchen but the food was very slow the first time. No apologies from management. Clearly, the is no one working kitchen to get food out as orders are ready. Drinks from bar were good, Bloody Mary was excellent. View of the sunset was fabulous. So, drinks and sunset good idea.
