(They did not disappoint.) Things I loved about the Grand: - Easy parking within a block (or two) via street and dirt lots. All of it was free parking. - Not fighting huge traffic other than I-580-EB on an evening. - Along a really cute downtown area that was about 3-4 blocks by 3 blocks. - Cheap snacks at the Grand that included beer on tap, wine, sodas, bottled water, candy, and nuts, all of which was very inexpensive by comparison to the Orpheum in SF. (Water, soda - $3; candy - $3; most alcoholic beverages were $6-9, IIRC.) - All great seating once you get inside. I didn't feel like there was a bad seat in the house. - Beautiful interior, just as ornate as The Orpheum. - Awesome lighting and sound, unlike the Golden Gate Theater, which has had terrible sound in the last two years. - Not a huge line to get to the restroom. - A space indoors for merch sales, for groups like All-4-One that choose to sell things. There's nothing critical or even nit-picky to say about my visit here. 5 stars. I had a great time, and I will be back. Tracy, y'all are so lucky!

Our funeral…read morehome director connected us with Dr. Pazo as I requested a bagpipe player at the graveside portion of my mother's funeral this August. Mom (and I) have Scottish heritage and she grew up with her Scottish Dad singing Highland songs to her and in turn sang them to me. So it would be an understatement to say this music was a very important component of Mom's funeral service. Dr. Pazo phoned me beforehand to get a sense of what the service would be like and what our musical requests were. He was compassionate, kind, and efficient at a time when I was in shock from my mom's death but needed to call on my executive functioning skills for funeral planning. Definitely a challenging time but I was so relieved that the bagpipes would be played at my mom's funeral. When the day arrived it was an incredibly moving and powerful experience to arrive at the graveside and see Dr. Pazo in his full regalia and hear the haunting sound of the resonant bagpipes which filled the air. The bagpipes and the beautiful songs Dr. Pazo played gave a weight and power, a somber honor to my mother's life that I and my family will always remember. We grateful for Dr. Pazo's artistry, empathy, and power as he played the bagpipes. Some time after mom's funeral I watched Queen Elizabeth's funeral. When I heard and saw the bagpipe procession, I said, "I think we had a better bagpipe player at mom's funeral." That's how great Dr. Pazo is! List of Songs Played: Prelude: On Eirin's Green Shores, My Home, O Flower of Scotland, My Bonnie Lass, Skye Boat Song, The Isle of Innisfere, You Raise Me Up, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God Processional : O Danny Boy Commital Song: Auld Lang Syne Potslude: Abide With Me, Going Home

Radio Gatsby absolutely crushed it at our wedding and we are still talking about it!…read more We had a solo pianist for the ceremony, a quartet during cocktail hour, and a full band for dinner and dancing. Every part of the day had its own perfect vibe and they nailed all of it. They played every song we wanted and steered completely clear of the ones we didn't, which honestly meant so much to us. Our guests would not stop raving about the music all night and weeks after! We loved every second of it. The dance floor was full from start to finish. If you are looking for musicians who will genuinely make your day feel like YOUR day, book Radio Gatsby. You will not regret it!

The venue has a speakeasy vibe, so I requested jazz and they delivered it perfectly. Before the event they sent over an entire book of songs to choose from, and I picked a few I liked and left the rest up to them based on my direction. It was perfect. Their versatility and ability to read the room really stood out. Noam was fantastic to work with leading up to the event. Everything was seamless, professional, and handled with care. The band showed up early with great vibes and positive energy, and they immediately helped set the tone while I focused on final setup. They brought life to the happy hour. Everyone loved them and they were a huge part of what made the event such a success. I highly recommend Radio Gatsby and will absolutely hire them again for future events!
