Like many of the reviews note, this brewery tour is neither of the brewery nor a tour; it's a timed 35-minute video presentation across a few rooms. The story is interesting, but there are almost no artifacts presented. Many of the videos are a projection of a person, whose lips presumably are synced with the Czech soundtrack but is a distracting overdub in English when they've chosen to make the person the center of your attention. A self-guided tour without seeing the production facility can still be good, I think Guinness shows that. But what they do well is give you a sense of being in the place and telling the story in a dynamic way nonetheless. Certainly, for what it is, the price is a bit high. And seeing the reviews here from a few years ago, it has gone up, now 199CZK for tour with 1 beer, 269CZK with a flight of 4. read more

Just happend into the Bar. Sadly the tour was closed. With in 2 minutes a I a great Cold Premium Beer in Hand. EVERYTHING was sparking from the Beer to the staff! I was in Prague center and reluctant to venture out on the subway. I needed to go to a meeting at the Andel Stop of the Yellow B line. It was the best $1.50 I spent in Prague. A trip to the Czech republic would not be complete without a brewery tour, would it? The well-known Staropramen brewery is one of the most well organised for tours, and whilst not the most atmospheric experience, it's easily accessible from central Prague. (Na Knížecí tram stop and bus station: southern exit from Andel metro station.) The entrance for the tours is in Pivovarska street, around the corner from the main brewery entrance: tour times for English and German tours are posted on the door, although it is advisable to book at least a day a head in high season. The tour itself begins with an audio show, followed by a trip to the old brew-house, the new (rather clinical) brew-house, and finally back to the tour reception for some of the beers - you get to sample the standard Staropramen light lager, and the dark-golden (and rather nice...) Granat lager. There are plenty of bars to try these and other lagers afterwards nearby. read more

This tour was absolutely terrible. Trust me, other than getting attacked my a gypsy, this is a close worst thing that can happen to you in Prague. The visit was so terrible, it was almost funny. Be prepared for the following: - No guided tours and not actually seeing the brewery, just a "museum" like display - A bearded guy on tv that has a pretend Czech accent, would have been kinda funny if I didn't pay money for this tour. Literally, all you see is this bearded guy until the final tasting room. - A few good beers to taste at the end, but you'll be so frustrated with how badly you just wasted money over the last 30 minutes, I don't anticipate any sane person to actually appreciate the beer. We stayed in an apartment just one block from this place and wife and saw this place during our morning walk around the neighborhood. We decided to go in. Timing was right for us to take the English tour. Had no idea what the tour would be like. Paid our entrance fee and waited for the start time. We were part of a group of 13 persons. Wife and I were the only North Americans. The other nine were men from Sweden. They made a point to visit this brewery during their Prague vacation. The tour is basically a self-guided affair with a pretty good aduio/visual program. For 90 kc, you get entrance to the tour and a token for a (one) beer afterwards. I guess paying around $4 US for a video tour maybe OK, but I have to get a bit critical about their beer offerings and lack of a real visit to the factory. All of the previous beer brewery tours I have attended provides samplings. Basically, you can sample just about all you want for no additional charge...they were showcasing their products. Not here. You get one glass, .3 liter size, from a choice of 4. I would have loved to sample all four but did't want to both pay for additional servings or drinking that much beer at 1030 in the morning. I felt sorry for the Sweds who made a special detour to visit this place. read more

What a let down! The Plzen and Gambrinus tours kick ass over this bizarre multimedia experience. Then the tasting room employees have no people skills. Although the unfiltered and unpasteurized Staropramen was pretty good. If you want to have a true brewery experience take the train to Plzen, it is only like an hour, and a short 5 to 10 minute walk from the station. You can definitely skip this. read more

Not the best brewery tour but worth doing if you have some spare time in Prague. My friends from the US visited me for couple of days in Prague so one of the things I wanted to show them was the making of famous Czech beer (trip to Plzen wouldn't fit into our schedule). Staropramen is the second most imported Czech beer and the website (http://www.pivovary-staropramen.cz/en/visit-us/staropramen-visitor-centre/) said that the English tour starts at 1pm every day and costs reasonable 199CZK so we went. First thing, the address is actually Pivovarská 9, which is just around the corner from the address stated here but could be confusing for people that don't know their way around that much. Next, when we walked in, it was kind of hard to find the ticket office. Again, as a Czech native I could read the sign of the room in the far left corner that says "Kasa", i.e. ticket office, but it's not very thought-through for people from abroad. The tour was solely audio-visual with no actual tour guide which was a little disappointing but doable. It starts with very good overview of the brewery's history and then leads you to the second floor where you meet virtual Mr. Paspa, brewmeister who worked at the brewery in the 30s and who invented the famous Granat version of Staropramen. Since then, the tour is more comical than educational. At one point, Mr. Paspa plays with flying hops which makes you think if he's not high on something. The tour ends in a traditional period Czech bar where you can try one of the four beers that Staropramen makes for free. If you wish to try more, you can for additional 39CZK per glass (which is some 0.3l or so). Like I mentioned above, I've definitely been to better brewery tours but I don't regret doing this one and would probably recommend it to any other foreign visitors I might have. I'm not going to do the tour with them again though :-) read more

I wasn't too impressed with this tour, the tour lasted about 30 mins and there wasn't really anything of interest to report on. There was a video on the history of the Staropramen, some empty beer vats and a few diagrams showing how the company is linked with various other beer companies. There was a quick tasting session afterwards and then the obligatory gift shop (or wall in this case) finish to any tour. I think it is safe to say that the tour of the factory is nowhere near as impressive as the product that is produced in the factory....now that I do recommend. read more

Don't waste your money on this tour! This is the worst brewery tour that I have ever been on and I've been on dozens both in North America and in Europe. The tour is 'guided' by a virtual tour guide. Basically you are getting an AV show that explains a bit and tells you to move along to the next room. The group that I was in was too large for the 'tour guide' and he would begin the presentation in the next room before we could all get into the room...and in one of the spaces, we couldn't all fit. Another downside of not having a human guide is that there is no opportunity to ask questions. To sum it up, I'm sorry I wasted my money and that was an hour of life that I'll never get back. It will only be worth it if my review (in conjunction with the others here) prevent others from making the same mistake. read more

This is a must do on your trip to Prague. My husband and I came here 2 years ago and did the full tour / beer tasting and then came back today. We enjoyed the tour last time and took lots of fun pictures, but this time we went straight to the brewery bar for the freshest Staropramen beer around. Great food - omg the beer sausage and chips!- and the service was amazing! The Prime Minister of Canada was there and was great. Highly recommend!!! read more

This is a nice, commercial brewery west of the river in Prague and just south of the Anden metro station. When you first enter the visitor's center, you can read about the history of this brewer now owned buy Molson Coors. I recommend the unfiltered which is a good beer. The premium is ok and nothing memorable. Tastings are not free, you pay for their drafts. read more

It's not hosted by a human. The acting is ridiculous, but the video room is kinda neat. It's 199 kc, and you get one free beer. It's super touristy, but that's OK, I guess. Various show times do the tour in various languages, so if you don't speak Czech or English, you're all set. It's worth doing once to say you've been, but it ends up being one really expensive beer. Extremely rude staff. There are nice to Czech people and rude to tourists. Meal is not good. They don't accept credit cards. We paid in Euro and they paid the difference in a Koruna but less than what they were supposed to. They were so rude that we didn't bother to ask them to correct it. Don't go there unless you are starving and nowhere else is open. It was our wedding anniversary night... If they were not so rude, we didn't mind their poor quality food. read more

Went there twice: company event. For the first time we had a buffet refreshment directly in the brewery - Czech cuisine and other, all delicious. For the second time we went to the nearby Potrefená Husa restaurant for dinner. The tour serves as a good starting point/icebreaker for team events, especially the beer tasting. The staff had to change since the last reviews, as ours were extremely friendly and helpful. read more
