I would give it 3.5. Environment: it was a 2 story restaurant. It was nice and lots of tables for big and small parties. Staff: very friendly and patient because we were with a tour so lots of orders and requests but she was always kind and humorous, too. Food: 1. Soup: the reason why I docked some points was mainly because of the soup. Though the meat and veggie soup had great flavors, it was incredibly salty. I saw some people eat all the bread with it or poured some still water to dilute. 2. Pork chop: huge portion and very thick pork chop I was quite surprised! It was cooked well and the potato salad underneath was a bit tangy so it went really well with the meat. 3. Honey cake: it was on the drier side. For me, I'm not a fan of honey flavored things. However, those who like honey, this is something you'll love because it didn't have the artificial honey flavors; I'm pretty sure it's made out of real honey! The food was delicious. I had the duck and my wife had the lamb chops. This was one of the best meals we had in Europe and the dessert was excellent. The honey cake and the apple strudel were to die for and the service was tremendous. The server we had was friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant which is convenient walking distance from me most of the hotels. This was the first Czech cuisine restaurant we stopped by when in Prague. Kind of touristy, even though it's in new town & not crowded in old town with all other touristy restaurants. And the food was not bad. Really loved the decor , classy and barbarian especially like the solid wood interior. Service - we went for a late lunch, they were not busy at all, but for some reason the first waitress wouldn't let us sit on the bigger table, closer to the bar area even though the restaurant was basically empty. Fortunately., the waitress served our table was very nice and friendly. She even patiently explained what are some of the signature dishes are to us. Food- they have a long menu, which consist of all the Czech signature cuisines. we ordered the beef tartar and the meat platter . The beef tartare was very delicious, But the meat platter was just OK. The reason I give it an OK because during our later days in Prague, we had much better meats. Beer- when you are in Prague, you have to drink their local beer, this restaurant has a short list of beer selections, but they are all very good and local made. Must try. The food was delicious, and the service was great! The restaurant was packed, so we sat in the back, which was a really cool, chill room. Our waiter was a really sweet guy. We got what can only be called a meat extravaganza plate, and it was so good! So much food that we couldn't finish it, but really wish we could have. I wasn't a big fan of the duck, but I'm not usually. All of the pork was amazing. My friend and I were both eyeing it really hard, lol! One thing I will say is that if you're an American, you'll be a bit surprised by their dumplings if you're thinking of chicken and dumplings. We went to La Republica after this restaurant was recommended by one of our tour guides. This is fundamentally a drinking establishment with reasonably good bar food. I really enjoyed the Pilsner that was recommended, in fact I enjoyed 2 of them. We ordered several dishes from the menu and while they were acceptably good, I would recommend that you decide to go to other places for dinner. The ambiance inside La Republica is definitely upbeat with music playing as the evening wears on. Everyone is in a good mood-why wouldn't they be? Everyone is juiced! Our server was very nice and helpful and didn't bother us for a long time after we had finished drinking and eating. The prices here are reasonable, for sure. My recommendation is that you come here for drinks-beer of course, you're in the Czech Republic. And then go to one of the many excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. read more

Old world atmosphere with hearty regional food. I enjoyed the Roasted Pork Knee. It was huge and absolutely delicious. My wife had a goulash dish that she was lukewarm about. The traditional dumplings with the dish was not what she was expecting. The menu also features duck dishes that looked fantastic as they passed by. Live entertainment was a nice touch. Delayed by five hours getting to Prague, I was finally able to meet up with my friends here at La Republica. A menu leaning towards traditional Czech foods, we had beers, a bottle of great wine, several glasses of great wine, a pork sandwich, two plates of charcuterie and four bowls of soup. Total price? Under $150. Five people at a TON of great food and it was barely $30 each. That's nuts. Service was fabulous. Attentive and direct, friendly and helpful. Definitely knowledgeable, too. Tasty food, with decent vegetarian options as well as czech staples. The service was decent, although the host was a little rude and the waiter didn't check on us often. This is definitely a place you need a reservation for on the weekend, but they were able to squeeze us in without a reservation during the weekday. But here they sell Staropramen which is sooooooo much better.. like their food: I can get ham but theirs is sooo much better.. so one dude to another - come here . You'll be satisfied and happy. A large restaurant with upstairs seating, it was fun to sit near the window and people watch, while downing beers on a hot pre-summer day. The four of us had a very good experience at this restaurant. Our waitress was pleasant, friendly and attentive. She said the popular items were the duck and pork entrees. But I didn't feel like eating either so opted for the goulash and veal Wiener schnitzel. The goulash was thick and had tender chucks of stew meat, served with two types of dumplings and a thick slick of bread. Perfect for sopping up the dark brown goulash sauce. The schnitzel came out sizzling hot with a heavybreaded coating. Our meals were delish and satisfying. We also shared a Caesar salad.which tasted like romaine lettuce with a light buttermilk dressing. I think they forgot to put the anchovies in the salad. read more
