5/5 - Our Favorite Dog Park! We've been bringing our GSP here 4-5 days a week for nearly a year, and 95% of the time it's a fantastic experience. There's a strong community of regulars, and most dog owners are responsible and attentive. You'll find a rhythm to the park: the 9am crew, the noon "puppy hour," and a lively 5pm group (avoid this time if your dog prefers a mellower vibe). In summer, there's water available and people often bring kiddie pools. The park is donation-based, so consider bringing your own water for your pup (and others!), just in case. As with any public space, you'll occasionally run into an untrained or aggressive dog--usually brought by someone new to dog parks. In the past year, I've only seen two serious incidents. In one case, a dog attacked another and was subsequently banned by the city. In another, a dog aggressively "resource guarded" its favorite best friend dog at the park, and attacked any other dog who wanted to play with his best friend. It was handled by the community. Incidents like these are rare but worth being aware of. Personally, I stay vigilant. I screen every new dog my pup meets and carry a pet corrector spray and small foghorn, just in case. I never assume others are as proactive, so I ask questions and stay alert. It's every owner's responsibility to manage their dog to ensure everyone's safety--that's how public spaces like this thrive. Overall, Starr Farm is hands-down the best dog park around. The positive experiences far outweigh the negative, and we've made great connections. There's even a "Friends of Starr Farm Dog Park" Facebook group, which has grown to include social outings for dog owners. My dog does well here because she's highly trained, socially savvy, and prefers fetch over pack play. If something seems off--like a checked-out owner or a dog with concerning behavior--I create distance or leave. There's also a smaller fenced-in area for shy, small, or young dogs right beside the larger fenced in area FYI. It shares the same parking lot and it's gated entrance is on the left side (when you park). A few asks to keep this space safe: - If your dog resource guards other dogs, please don't bring them here. If they resource guard high value "toys" or other dogs balls, please be aware of this while at the park and manage the situation (like don't bring it's favorite toy) to avoid creating triggers for aggression. - If your dog isn't up-to-date on vaccines or parasite prevention, please stay home. - If your dog is aggressive or attacks other dogs, this is not the place--try a private "Sniff Spot" rental instead. Community spaces only stay safe and welcoming if we protect them. This park is a gem because people genuinely care. Let's keep it that way! read more

A beautiful dog park. Huge open field on the shore of lake Champlain. Not much shade if you go on a hot summer day. so plan ahead and be prepared. Very Clean, plenty of parking and very well maintained. They don't shove the park rules down your throat which is appreciated. read more

Now this is a dog park! This completely fenced-in/off-leash park is the size of two football fields, and that's not counting a separate small dog section that's the size of most city dog parks. There are three (at least) dog bag dispensers that are never empty. There are plenty of trash cans around the park in which to dispose of the bags, and the cans are never overflowing. The grounds are a healthy mix of dirt and grass and if ever part of the ground starts to erode or dogs start digging holes, the wonderful park volunteers fill them in. The park has plenty of parking and it seems like there's a new pup driving up to play every five minutes; I honestly can't remember the last time that Agatha and I were there by ourselves. There are a number of human benches scattered around the park for those days when it's hot and you need to sit for a moment. And speaking of the hot days, this park has a water faucet and provides drinking bowls if need be; the water is also used to fill up doggie pools for those labs who can't get enough water. My wife and I have been taking Agatha to Star Farm for the last year and I don't think we'll ever stop going. Agatha told me to tell you that you should bring your dog there, too. read more

Best parts of the park are seen in the photos Tubes so if you are alone at the park with your dog, you can still have some fun. My puppy had soooooooooooo much fun here! I'm considering making this a near-daily trip. Way better than the Waterfront Dog Park cause there's obstacles for your doggie to climb over and there's drinking water and bowls for when they tired themselves out. My favorite in town. A large fenced in area right off the bike path and near the end of Starr Farm Rd and the community gardens. I used to live within walking distance and walked my dogs to and from here as well as drive over from the time they first opened around 2002. On my recent trip back, I brought my 2 year old mix Boo-boo over for a midwinter romp about once per week. Even though it was winter and one of the largest snowfall for the season on record, the park was still accessible and I saw volunteers regularly "scoopin' ". The park has a "Scoop your poop" policy (i.e. clean up after your dog makes a deposit) but thanks to these volunteers, keep the dog park "poop free". read more

What this dog park has going for it: - Separate large and small dog runs - Water source in large dog run - Dedicated parking - Huge run - Obstacle equipment - Adequate fencing - Poop bags provided What this dog park has going against it: - Mostly grass and dirt ground cover - Limited shade - Limited seating - Gets windy - Inadequate gate between large and small dog runs Great dog park and the best one in Burlington hands down. We just moved to the area and brought our (almost) year-old German Shepherd here to play. He has a ton of energy - long walks don't cut it anymore - and really needs a place to run around. We are so excited to have discovered Starr Farm! It's a great big fenced off space with tons of land for pups to run (our dog, Bear, sprinted around for nearly 20 minutes, playing with other dogs, and was pooped. Never happens!) There are separate small and big dog areas which is great, as well as free poop bags and water available. We plan to bring our own water as I don't feel comfortable with communal water bowls, seems like an easy to way to get kennel cough, but I appreciate the gesture. The obstacle area is a super fun addition and seems like something we could enjoy with our dog on a quiet day. Overall, loved it and will absolutely be returning! Downside is there isn't really anywhere to sit nor is there a shaded area, so I can imagine it gets hot on summer days. But this is the small price to pay for a great dog park that allows our high energy dog some fun release! read more

Great dog park. We always come here as it's the closest one to our place. It's fenced, big, and offers poop bags. There are lawn chairs and benches to sit. The small dog area is usually really quiet besides on weekends. Many dog owners come here in the area, though not all of them are nice - watch out for the 20-something young people, a few of them can be really rude. One of them tried to remove my dog from mounting her dog with her dirty shoes multiple times (without talking to me first), even though I was right there to pull my dog away. Good spot to get your pup some exercise. I like to go early in the morning, when only a few die hard, nice dog owners are there. Midday and after work (particularly during nice weather) can be crowded, and the vibe gets weird. read more

It is the best park in the area. It may not be a perfect dog park but I think it is the best we got. As in any dog park you need to be careful watching you dog and other dogs as not all dog owners know how to prevent a dog fight or recognize their dog as an aggressor. Star Farm Dog Park is a massive grassy dog park with a sweet little doggy obstacle course in it. They do have a separate small dog park, running water, and little splash pools. This park is also next to Lake Champlain, but there are "no dogs allowed" signs next to the beaches... people sneak their pups in though. It gets pretty crowded at times, but the park is so huge that it's not a problem. read more

Love bringing our dog here! Best dog park in Vermont that we have found for our monster! Huge space for dogs to run around and be free. Not a big fan of the owners that bring balls for their dog and the dog is protective of it. Over all our favorite place to go! read more

We love coming here with our Rhodesian. For the most part, the people and the dogs are awesome and friendly. Of course, no matter where you go, you're going to have some outliers and some aggressive dogs and oblivious owners; but for the most part, we haven't had too many issues here and will continue to keep coming for play. read more

This is for my dog. This place is awesome. My dog would be a wild beast if this place didn't exist. I've been bringing my dog Sally here since I got her 9 months ago. (Really puppy friendly place btw). This place is huge! It's completely and securely fenced in. There's even a fenced in area for small dogs. It's always stocked with dog bags. Nice that you don't have to use your own or if you forget one. There is always an abundance of dogs. My dog and I have only been alone at Star Farm maybe 5 times, and we go everyday. If your dog doesn't like all the hoopla of running with the pack, there's plenty of room to go throw a ball on the other side of the park. In the summer there is a hose. Plenty of fresh water and they also provide water bowls. There is some sort of agility course thing that dogs play on (I literally cannot think of another thing to call it). There are also doggy pools in the summer! My dog loves this place and to be honest, I do too. It's pretty awesome. It's easy to stay for an hour. read more

Awesome off-leash park. There are always other dogs to play with, all breeds and sizes, and the owners are usually very friendly. A kiddie-pool is available for the dogs to cool off during the summer, and there is a separate area for smaller dogs to play without getting trampled by the big guys :) read more

This place is awesome. I take my dog here multiple times a week. There are always tons of dogs here (which is why we drive here instead of to the Waterfront Dog Park which is closer to my house). It is very well maintained (thank you Volunteers!) and we have never had a bad time here. read more

Horrible place. People don't respect dog park rules and allow packs to form and allow their dogs to be aggressive. This is the first town we've been in where people don't take the rules seriously. Seems nobody is in charge. read more

What a great place! My dog and I went to Starr Farm for the first time and it was really a surprise. It's mud season now and the place was not too muddy. Of course there was some mud but you could still get into the park and find lots of dry places to play. I'm sure there was some unpicked-up poop but we were there for an hour and I didn't see any. My dog did need a bath after because he smelled like poo but that happens whenever he goes out because it's small and likes to roll around. I loved that there was lots of benches for me to sit. read more
