I contacted Annandale Lock & Key Service, based on Google and a whim. The person I spoke to was extremely friendly and helpful, and Chris came to our aid in barely 30 minutes! It turned out that the lock was so old, we just didn't understand the trick to get the key to work. But that point notwithstanding, Chris was INCREDIBLE! He stayed and re-keyed all of our locks and took the time to explain our strange, antique front door lock. I told hin to change the pins in the existing lock and he did not. He changed the outside cylinder so that the back door two cylinders and the front door outside cylinder had the same key . Needed a locksmith to help with my girlfriends condo. I will say that the receptionist on the phone…read morewas very nice and helpful, as was the technician over the phone. The condo is off the same road as the locksmith company and the technician took about 30 minutes to get to the condo. They have a $29 service call fee and the it's the service of opening the lock and then labor to the technician. When the tech arrived and looked at the door he quickly decided that the pins were broken and that he could attempt to pick the lock. Upon asking for an estimate for the cost I was told $140 plus the service call fee so $170 in total, and that was only if it worked. I told him that was too much and that I couldn't afford to pay that and that i would be paying just the service call fee, he said he would be able to do it for $80 cash to pick the lock instead. It was cheaper so I agreed. It didn't seem like more than a few seconds before he said that he wasn't able to pick it and that he would need to drill it out. I stopped it right there because I can only imagine what that would have cost me. As he was leaving he made some comment about not making any money from this or something like that. I'm not saying the company is bad but this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and I will not be going to this company if I need a lock picked. In the end I got the help of the very wonderful local fire department and they were able to climb through an open window and unlock the door from the inside.
