Had an absolutely awful experience with a simple installation of two smart deadbolts, and a matching pair of handle sets, all from Kwikset. This was a follow up visit from the same technician that came previously to rekey one deadbolt and had told us that, since our front door was Kwikset, we needed to install other Kwikset locks if we wanted all of them keyed to a single deadbolt key. So we bought the equipment for two Kwikset Kevo smart locks, and a matching set of hardware for a set of French doors (with a regular door and a dummy door). It became very quickly obvious that the technician had no idea what he was doing with the installation. At one point, when he had emptied all of the boxes of Kwikset handles that we had bought - rendering over $300 of equipment not returnable - he actually remarked aloud to my spouse that he was familiar with Schlage and other locks, but actually was not familiar with Kwikset locks. That should've been his cue to STOP what he was doing and call in an expert, but instead he continued to mess with the door and the locks, ultimately leaving us with a mess of mismatched door handles, an extra hole in our door that is not covered by any hardware, and a $300 pair of handle sets that we now could no longer return. I actually heard him listening to a video on how to install Kwikset locks, which is ridiculous! *I* could've done that! I even came home to my husband, trying to drill in one of the Kevo smart locks, that apparently the technician had not installed properly. There is no way in a locksmith service call that the homeowner should be doing any of the installation themselves. And we were charged nearly $400 for the pleasure of a barely half done job. For two deadbolts and a pair of handle sets. Absolutely ridiculous. Would never use them again. read more

Yesterday was my second encounter with Ronen. Two years ago, I found him on Yelp, and had him cut and program two new keys for my 2006 Honda. I purchased them off of Amazon, as the cost at the dealership at the time was $175/key. He did a terrific job, and I walked away with two new keys for much less than the cost of one. Fast forward to yesterday--he reprogrammed the valet key, which I had neglected the last time, and replaced a battery in another key. This left me where I was 17 years ago when I walked out of the dealership, with three perfectly operating keys at a phenomenally low price (I think he did me a favor!) We have a couple used cars in the family that only had one (1) key. A honda and ford, both with electronic keys. The ford dealer couldn't program our spare, but Total Security Locksmith did it in 15 minutes. They also cut and program two for the honda. Went to their location to get smart keyfob cut and programmed. Owner was friendly, professional and met me with mask on and mindful of distance. It probably took 15 minutes, tops. I had a badly stuck closed bathroom door with a broken locking mechanism which was broken and stuck inside. The technician sent texts and called to confirm his arrival, which was exactly on time. The door and frame are very tight which made the job difficult, but the technician was very skilled and diligent. The fee was very reasonable, as I was charged the same to open the door, remove the old lock and install a new one for a what another company wanted just to open the door.
