Been going to the Starsky's in Mississauga for a few years. That one is great, but this location might be actually be better. The layout is different and more logical. The prices and/or specials might be consistently lower. Their produce specials are deeply discounted. Great for those big pots of soups, stews and chowders in the cold months when you need a lot of vegetables. I find their bakery section less cluttered than the aforementioned. And the bakery clerks very friendly. Who can't be friendly around all that sweetness. Each aisle has a special on one product or another. The jarred root vegetable salads are aplenty. Hard to find European products packaged with high standards such as Pâté are in full dupp Their meat and poultry prices are reasonable as well. And to my surprise they sell Wine and Beer. I got an excellent bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon for under $15 that's cheaper than the price for the same bottle in the USA. So that's easily worth 5 stars. read more

I purchased short ribs yesterday. I opened the packages today to cook them but they were discoloured but worst of all they smelled bad. old meat. Yes the sell old meat. or they repackage. cClled the store and so called manager was absolutely unprofessional. started to raise his voice at me and threatened me. Unbelievable customer experience. Totally the worst. Word can not express how bad the management is. question is if the owners condone this type of employee behaviour? and for the record I did not want anything from the store. never asked for money back. He hung up a true professional never again. read more

Wow, tons of different international groceries here! They have amazing deli and cheese counters with a selection you would not believe. We picked up some prepared hot wings, kielbasa, and other hot sausage--and the prices are very reasonable. I liked how everything was organized well and clean. Can't wait to go back for more! read more

The biggest deli counter I've ever seen-incredible candies, cheese... the store is immaculate and stocked with gorgeous labels from all over the world. My wife is Polish and she loves the variety of foods at the location at 2040 Dundas Street East. Their hot take out foods are normally quite a varied selection as well. They have opened a couple of other locations and she still wishes they would open in North York or Thornhill as it is 1 hour each way to drive there so we seldom drive there now. read more

Amazing produce, super fresh, and the selection of deli meats and cheese is the stuff of dreams!

I asked for a lean beef tenderloin, 7 inches, to use for filets, and when I got home and unpacked it, ended up being a folded up flank steak with a huge thick 1" string of gristle throughout the center of the entire piece. $43.00 later. The sticker did say Beef Tenderloin. The rum balls are great, their bread is good, their deli items are great (they actually slice/shave to order and layer on paper instead of putting the sliced meat on top of each other, making it a ball of meat in a bag like other stores do), and they carry a nice selection of items not found at Denninger's. It was my first time there. I hope that the tenderloin issue was a mistake, however I think I'll keep shopping for butcher items at Denninger's. I purchased a cheese pastry, and it had just a pinch of cheese, and very dry. The same for their filled donuts. read more

This store has many goods, especially from Eastern Europe, that people can only find in this store in the whole Hamilton. In addition, the staff is kind and speaks many Slavic languages. I recommend this grocery store to everyone, as it has many benefits over other stores. read more

They are all not wearing face masks at the deli and dairy counters. We only purchased from the isles because at least we can wipe down the packaging. Its ironic you have to be 6 feet apart when the workers talk over the open food they serve you. Droplets in my feta cheese no thanks. read more

Smoked fish, sausages as far as the eyes can see, enough cheese to make you constipated, hot table (latkes!!), pretzels, paczki, and did I say sausages? My kind of sausage fest!! I didn't know that there were so many different types of sausages, and I'll be damned if I don't try them all! This place is awesome. It's not the traditional kind of grocery store you'd find in North America, but hey sometimes different is good. Where else could I find salo? Not sure what that is neither did I until I found it via wiki as a cured slab of pork belly fat. It's my new alternative to cooking oil. Tons of items made in-house too. Pickles, sauerkraut, herring, it's all here baby. Bulk chocolates, Eastern European confectionary galore. I really wish there were more Starsky locations in Ontario. It's a shame there's only three here, but whenever I drive by I'm heading into Starsky's. read more

This is simply the BEST European market/deli/cafe/bakery I've been to! First, you come to the produce section, where the fruits and veggies are always fresh and everything seems a little plumper and jucier and more flavorful than at other food markets. Then, you come to their GLORIOUS meat and cheese counters, where there is a seemingly endless selection of smoked and cured meats, like beautiful sides of bacon, pastrami, corned beef, and prosciutto, as well as a huge variety of sausages and salami and uncooked meats. The same goes for their ample array of cheeses from all over the world. The counter help is always plentiful as well as pleasant, and they're happy to let you sample a bit of meat or cheese. There is also a prepared food counter and bakery counter, which is not as expansive as the meats and cheeses, but still provides a nice variety of items. In addition to these things, they have mass quantities of European and domestic products such as: Dairy Beer Jarred fruits and veggies Breads and rolls Condiments Spices and seasonings Coffee and tea Perrogies Sweets and packaged cookies Cleaning supplies Beauty creams and soaps Cosmetics Perfumes for women and men If you are ever in Hamilton, I urge you to check out Starsky's. Amazing deli section. Produce, cheese, meats, bakery are all great! My starskys also sells alcohol which is definitely a plus. I like trying out the polish foods that I can't pronounce the names of. I have waited a long time for a shopping experience , like Starsky's, not since Knob Hill Farms, have I enjoyed shopping in a place where you feel welcomed, The staff are super friendly and very courteous, and the selection and variety of products from all over the world is second to none. The other day, I discovered a Balkan delicacy, which I could only find at the Farmers Market, till now!---Halvah, something I have enjoyed since I was 5 years old, back in Sveta Petka, Macedonia. The prepared hot food is excellent, again a wide variety. I urge all my fellow Hamiltonians, to check it out.
