Always looking for a new breakfast place so when I saw donut diner in Yelp, I decided it was time. Although I've been living in the Hamilton area for over 50 years, I've never gone to this restaurant, although my father-in-law used to buy donuts here . I was very impressed by the decor (very retro). After sitting for a few minutes, my friend and I ordered and within a short while we got our food. Fantastic amount and real fried potatoes not like the ones you get from the fast food restaurants. Price was right and service was excellent. No wonder the place has survived for so many years. I've been back a couple of times since and never disappointed. A must try. read more

I went for a hike with my dog. I did bring enough water for the both of us. She's a big girl. The ladies here helped me by getting me 4 bottle water. A container for my girl To drink out of & brought a treat. They we're awesome. Ty so much it was a great hike read more

The Donut Diner - A wonderful place for comfort food. It is rare these days to go to a restaurant and consistently get great food and service. We always get delicious food here and the staff are wonderful. Particular favourites - For my grandson - The Hungry Man with a side of french toast. For my sons - the breakfast wraps. For my husband - their fish and chips! (Always served with a perfect amount of fish and tasty fries that are always spot on.) My favourite - a toasted western on brown. It is a meal in itself! I love the Donut Diner and the friendly staff. Last night I had the grilled fish, fries, and cole slaw which was delicious. Plus, it's a favourite of mine. Portion sizes are generous and you are guaranteed to leave satisfied. I was so lucky that they had some of the donuts left in the case - guess it was due to the rainy weather. I took home some of the apple fritters that are lighter than air. Not a lot of filling, but oh my gosh they are something else. I also picked a few other donuts for some variety, and put them in the freezer to bring out as a treat. There are so many regulars that come to the diner that the staff know their orders, which is cool to hear. The restaurant is clean, well lit, and not overly noisy (well maybe if all the tables filled to capacity). This diner is a hidden gem. read more

Small place ; a hidden gem located in a somewhat industrial area. You would likely not see the restaurant if you were driving by and not looking for it. Great place for breakfast; have not visited for lunch or dinner yet. It does get busy and the place is relatively small. Staff is always pleasant. Ensure to tip well; these workers have suffered die to covid over the past couple of years! read more

I love this place! Donut Diner is a super cute, old fashioned restaurant with lots of character and delicious food. The french toast is my absolute favourite. This restaurant has good meals at reasonable prices, But today, l went in around 2 PM and there were two waitresses, there were somewhat busy (not with customers) but they did have a second to wait on me. After sitting there for a good 5 minutes a gentleman came in and before he sit down they took his order, ignoring me. I usually go in this restaurant maybe couple times a month and always leave them a tip and say my please and thank yous. This has happen to me before in this restaurant. Do l smell, not dress appropriate, maybe l have an ugly face or they what a bigger tip. I will like the manager of owner of Donut Diner to give me some kind of answer. GOD BLESS read more

Gave this place two tries based on good Yelp reviews, and was really disappointed both times. Very poor service. Food takes forever, and is just average...but the worst part is the customer service. Every person there was so rude and non-service oriented, that I actually left the second time without even ordering. So, if you're on a time schedule, or actually want a pleasant diner experience, look elsewhere...because this place won't deliver what you're needing. read more

After checking out Yelp for good breakfast spots on Hamilton Mountain, I decided on Donut Diner. Like other reviews say, it is slow. BUT the food does make up for it. Big thing I missed is that they only accept CASH! They do have an ATM inside, but I was travelling on business and could not expense my meal. I had the Eggs Benedict and it was very good. Bless the Donut Diner!! This is a truly good and cheap breakfast spot with lunch after 2:00. Haven't tried the donuts yet-- a good and reliable donut shop is still on my list of things to find in Hamilton, so I'll have to try theirs out next time. Delicious food for an affordable price. The egg's benedict with the holandaise sauce is the best I've eaten. My personal favourite is the tuna melt sandwich. Friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommend it. read more
