We had a great weekend on Jamestown resort and marina house boat. We were given the tranquility boat. It had a front deck for grilling, top deck for sun bathing and to use the slide. 1 full bathroom and 1/2 bathroom. 4 bedrooms (each had clean sheets, a blanket and 2 pillows with pillows cases on). A kitchen and dining open area that had a couch and tv with DVD player. The boat was clean and somewhat well stocked with a coffee maker and some plates, cup and utensils. Fresh clean towels, wash clothes and hand towels were available in the linen closet. From Friday evening to Monday, we were enjoying the lake life and the boat. We had a small issue with the mini refrigerator with freezer not working. But when called they sent someone out Friday night to replace the refrigerator/freezer. Even provided extra coolers and ice in case it didn't work. Definitely will rent from Jamestown. They were quick to help and everything was great. read more

Great facility over all. No big issues in past years, nice boats. Great staff... This year the staff was cranky and not very accommodating. End of the season maybe? Boat 602 was really worn - which is ok but it was really dirty as well. Furniture was mismatched and rooms smelled like mold. Our boat did not have holding tanks for waste- its treated and flushed back in the lake where u are tied off and swimming. Ew. Dissappointed!!!! read more

Today, I was out driving around with my hubby, Tony and daughter, Noel. We even took her baby, Sammy ( her doggie) with us. We had stopped earlier at Rockhouse Natural Arch in Creelsboro, and followed route 55 to 127 to get back into Tennessee. We came upon the Lake Cumberland State Resort Park and followed the signs into the park 6 miles to the State Dock. This lake is huge and it was so dag on busy..but from the overlook perch it was awesome to view. It looks like they had a speed boat race yesterday because they were pulling several out of the water and towing out of the park. I would love to back here and watch a speedboat race, that would be so fascinating. This is a lovely park with camping, cottage rental, a swimming pool, putt putt, several lodges, tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic areas..Very nice park and free to explore the many hiking trails. read more

This is one of many Lake Cumberland docks and about my fourth experience at a LC dock and I must say that it's about the cleanest around. You literally drive into the Lake Cumberland State Park, go about four miles and you will approach the parking areas. There were several shuttle vans going back a forth from the parking areas, down the hill to the ramp. There are a few 15-minute limit parking spots up front, which is what we used the first time that we were there just to look around, buy a few shirts and some beer cheese. The store area is huge! They definitely carry the largest selection of shirts, lake themed houseware, etc than any other dock that I've ever been to. We were there Labor Day weekend, which is the season that most docks start to empty out their inventory, but that didn't seem to be the case. They seemed to be fully stocked. They did have a lot of sales going on. The Columbia, Tommy Bahama, and Sperry brand shirts and shoes were 40% off. We spent a lot in that short 15 minutes. In the back of the store area is where the boat rental info/check-in counter is. They had a ton of options available, from stand up paddle boards to houseboats and everything in between. There's also a restaurant that seemed to be pretty popular once the sun goes down. A band was scheduled to play and their menu was on a smaller limited "special event" scale. I wasn't a fan of the food at all. Actually, the food was horrible, so I don't recommend TC Tiki. Maybe it's a good place for drinks but stay away from the food. read more

By far the nicest marina I've been to on the lake. We're out of Alligator II Marina and it made Alligator look like a trailer on floats with a gas dock. Lots of places to tie up, several gas docks, HUGE store, and friendly staff. read more

This is our second year and the service here is awesome, great boats and friendly staff. The thing they did that really set this trip apart from the last started with a grill issue. They came out replaced tank and fixed the leak, the gentleman was so nice and assured us if we needed anything else to just ask for him and he would be right out. We thought to ourselves we all hope we don't have any other issues.... then my wife was skipping stones with the kids and reached down to grab a rock and got a direct bite on the hand from a copper head, I grabbed the radio and called and sure enough the Maintnance guy picked up the radio and said he knew exactly where we were located and got there fast, he boated us to the doc and the ambulance was waiting. We arrived at the hospital and they took care of everything. She is ok and we are headed back to the boat. read more

I'm severely disappointed! We had a huge family trip planned and right before we get there, they called us and said the boat that we were supposed to be on was out of service. They downgraded our boat from 89ft to 78ft. Not there fault. Where I'm disappointed is how the boat we got was maintained. Carpet outside was dirty. There was only 1 fridge. Our original boat we reserved had 2 and we needed 2. There was writing on the blue mesh on the railings on large print. The fly bridge did NOT work at all. And to top it off there was a huge fruit fly infestation!! I killed over 60 fruit flies myself. It was disgusting!! The mats on the upper deck had mold and were black. The snaps were broken so the would not stay in place. They gave us 3 dishwasher pods for a 5 day trip and only 1 garage bag. The railing on the outside of the boat was stripped off the wall in some places. Overall we had a good time but I don't anticipate I will ever rent from them again read more

Unless you are getting fuel or renting a boat this place is not good. There are no cleats to tie your boat up to go eat at the restaurant except in a house boat slip. The restaurant service was terrible and took us over an hour to get our food and it wasn't even decent food. Half of us didn't even eat it and how hard is it to make a good pizza. My family and I rented a houseboat for 4 days near the end of September. We had a wonderful time and are thinking that we will do this again. One problem that we did have was that some of the beds did not have clean and/or top sheets on them. On one of the beds, when we turned it down to go to sleep, we discovered dirty sheets and a pair of dirty thong underwear. That was not acceptable. I called the office first thing Saturday morning and was told that a manager would get in touch with me immediately. I called back 1 1/2 hours later and was told that "Jimmy" was being sent out to our location with some sheets. The manager never called me which was disappointing. Up until that time, correspondence and communications with Caitlyn Blevins was outstanding. Other that this matter, we could not have had a better time. I know that we were there at the end of the season (by choice) but these issues did put a damper on our trip but we did not let it ruin our mini family vacation. Billie D read more

Had a good time over Labor Day weekend, 2020. Booked the houseboat rental before reading reviews and then read the reviews so we prepared ourselves for the worst and then were okay. Cleanliness - the houseboat gets the minimum cleaning. Think of the cheapest motel. We cleaned the interior fan because it had a thick layer of dust and cobwebs on it. The beds were not made but fresh sheets, blankets, and plenty of towels were provided. Noise - There is a diesel engine on board that is not running on the dock before you leave. It provides power to the boat and keeps the bilge pump running so that you do not sink. It is really loud and will affect your ability to sleep if you are a light sleeper. Ear plugs and Melatonin allowed the adults to sleep. A large amount of swimming kept the kids asleep. Grill - we brought an extra just in case. There was a Weber grill on board with brand new cast iron grates but the diffusers were shot. It worked for burgers, dogs, and brats. I read that people had issues getting theirs above 200 degrees. That sounded like a vapor lock issue. Kitchen - The oven worked fine but it was not stocked with anything but a few plates, cups, and silverware. Bring everything you need to cook with including BBQ tools, bakeware for the over (rolls, pizza, etc.). The fridge worked fine. It is basically a higher level of camping with flushing toilets, hot showers, good swimming on Lake Cumberland, a hot tub, and what you make of it. read more

What a wonderful houseboat company! The customer service was excellent. They were responsive, answering our questions before we reserved our boat and sending us a welcome packet. When we arrived at the marina, we were impressed by how quickly we were greeted by staff to get us on the boat and valet our car. The houseboat (the escape) was easy to maneuver and was comfortable for 6 people. The slide and hot tub were lots of fun. The lake was absolutely beautiful for swimming - warm and clear. Manage Your Expectations There are some major issues and some nitpicky issues. Both are important to note. "Equipped to the MAX!" is a little bit of an exaggeration. Overall, we had a nice time, but we were expecting a very different experience. The day before we checked in, they called to inform us that the Paradise boat we had reserved was not available at all. We could accept a downgrade to the Serenity or our reservation would be canceled. There were not enough replacement vehicles for all the reservations and other families were simply canceled. We accepted, however, we lost 27' of space, a dining room table, 1.5 bathrooms, a refrigerator, Saloon space, and a sleeping cabin. All but one of the cabins was now going to be lofted. We were told boats must be returned promptly at 9:00 am and that we may be able to take responsibility and load on as early as 11:00 am (pending the cleaning and change over) but check-in was officially at 1:30. It was well after 2:00 before we were able to load in. After the Pilot disembarked and we were running the boat ourselves, we wanted to transfer power to the sky deck. We performed all of the tasks from the instructions but couldn't get it to work. Finally, we radioed the dock only to find out that that feature was broken on our boat. This would have been nice to know before we spent a frantic hour trying to make it work. At one point someone tripped a breaker and it needed to be reset. We were not shown where or how to do this. It was a good thing, one of our passengers was a Below Deck fan and guessed where and how to fix it. The boat we got was poorly maintained. The carpet outside was dirty. There was writing on the blue mesh on the railings in large print. There was a huge disgusting fruit fly infestation!! The mats on the upper deck had mold and were black. The snaps on the exterior bench cushions were broken so they would not stay in place. The railing on the outside of the boat was stripped off the wall in some places. There was nothing to clean the grill with but those utensils provided were nice. None of us was ever able to get any of the TV's to work. The blinds were filthy and there were cobwebs everywhere. We were on the boat for 5 days with 12 people. There was only one standard refrigerator. For that many people, we needed the 2 that we reserved in our original rental. We ended up using all of the coolers we brought with ice to keep our food cold. I have done a lot of rentals and never needed to pack the things that were not included in our "fully equipped" rental. We were given 3 dishwasher pods, 2 garage bags, and 1 roll of paper towels. There were no hand towels in the bathrooms or soap. There wasn't a dish drainer or anything to hand wash dishes with except a small bottle of Palmolive. There were no, hot pads, salad tongs, potato peeler, mixing bowls, pitcher, cookie sheets, wine opener, or sharp knives. One knife was provided it was an 8" chef's knife, safe enough to play with but wouldn't cut anything. We needed a large stockpot, a big frying pan, and a large pan for things like pizza, cinnamon rolls, and bacon. The 10" frying pan provided made feeding 12 people, 3 meals a day for 5 days challenging. Despite waiting an additional hour to board from the turnover, the boat was dirty and they did not make the beds. This was a real problem for our group. The downgrade, in boats, meant that our cabins were lofted. Many of our group is over 6' tall. It was difficult to make a bed like that especially after a long day of travel and fun. Only 1 blanket and 2 pillows were provided per bed. On our last day, we were out of potable water. We couldn't wash our hands & brush our teeth, do dishes, or laundry. If the downgrade reduced our resources, arrangements to replenish them should have been made. Again, our family had a nice time but I would highly recommend you pack everything I noted and manage your expectations accordingly. We were disappointed and needed to put more effort into our vacation than we'd planned on. read more

Spent the Fourth of July holiday weekend at State Dock and had the best time. The marina was clean and had the best staff. My favorite part of the weekend though was the house boat parties in the evenings. Everyone at State Dock is there to party and have a good time. If you like your peace and quiet, State Dock is probably not the marina for you. read more

With 13 other guys in a bachelor party we rented the MEGA CAT 1000 (the biggest houseboat in the fleet) for 3 nights in August. The state dock facility itself is nice and well-outfitted. There are plenty of people around to help you load and unload. The boat itself was pretty insane. Pictures do not do it justice. It is huge and well-appointed and it'll be sparkling clean when you board it. Negatives: - Parking and securing this behemoth is NOT easy and if you don't do it correctly you run the risk of having the boat swing to the side and hit another boat, or have your props run aground. When we took the boat over we were only given about 30 seconds of instruction on how to do it. We were woefully unprepared and it was only due to some dumb luck that we didn't damage anything. - Not enough rope was supplied to tie off to some of the shoreline with far-away trees. - One of the refrigerators barely worked - They supplied a broom to help keep the floor clean. What really would have helped would be a mop since the floor inevitably gets wet So a 4.5 star review really, but the MEGA CAT did not disappoint. read more

Midday two, fridge stops working (its held together with duct tape). Call for help and they say we are way far. We start back towards dock. They meet us an hour from the dock. They work on the fridge but it's not fixed. Then we have to try to cook all the now questionable meat we brought on a grill that only gets hot randomly. While, they were working on the fridge I went to my bunk to relax and look at the view from my bed. I pull the blinds up and find a booger and a long strange hair in the window!?@&)/. We are told to be at the dock by 10 to checkout. We wait an hour before they board us. The people were really nice, but the accommodations were way below my expectations. read more

One star just because the people at the state dock store were great. Week trip on a houseboat rental. Our boat was really late(due to them getting it ready) but boat was dirty had so many spider webs muddy siding. Slides are cracked .once we got on the bed sheets had dried blood or were wet from window not closed from when they "washed it" hair on the beds sinks toilet. Then our generator didn't work, after a few hours the toolroom came and found the problem (no fuel) left came back a hour later and fueled it but had water in the separator. So guess what we did every three hours so the generator would keep working. Took it in the dock they put clean fuel and we were off again. Boat had a hole in the hull, bilge doesn't work so we had to get the toolroom to lend up the bilge pump for our remanding days. Also had the hot tub on for over 12 hours to make it hot never did so we have lake water tub with jets..Worst experience ever. read more

Smooth situation. Rented a boat and got the boat we rented. There was a newer boat option, but they had said it was reserved for our weekend. Not sure to believe or not. But, overall, so far a good experience. We drop the boat back off tomorrow. I would only say, the cleanliness of the boat was OK, was able to find stuff on boat from other boaters. I don't think that should happen? Seriously lacking any basic items, so bring anything and everything. read more

When my partner and I arrived to rent 1 wave runner for the day, we did not see any signs directing us to the rental office. We asked two younger female employees where it was and they were very rude to both of us and didn't seem to want to help us. They immediately rolled their eyes at us and told us to go through the two glass doors, as if we should have known that. When we walked in, it looked like a gift shop. We then looked around and saw the tiny sign in the back corner of the marina that said Rentals. We walk to the rentals clerk excited to spend our day on the water. When we asked, he was non hesitant and egregiously rude to me and my partner. He said that all the wave runners were out of commission, even though we had walked past 8 wave runners when walking on the dock itself. We just stood in shock for a second and just walked away. We called the 888 customer service phone number and ONCE AGAIN, a rude woman answered the phone and told us the same thing in the same manner as the young male rental clerk did. She took it upon herself to tell us if we had any complaints to contact management, and we did not even consider asking to talk to management. We simply came to ride 1 of the 8 wave runners we saw in dry dock, which were advertised on your website as available. That is unprofessional and very non-customer centric to advertise the availability of your wave runners on your site but not be available in person at the rentals office. It was also unprofessional and non-customer centric not to post on the business website to potential customers of the "temporary unavailability" of the wave runners, and that you are "sorry for the customer(s) inconvenience." Point being, this situation would have been avoided if the proper information would have been posted on your business website. read more

1 star is too much, paid $9400 for a 7 bedroom houseboat. Picked up house boat and it smelled very much like mold and musty, mold in all window sills and bathrooms. As we progressed we found 8 bags of trash hidden under the top deck sink! Then as the days passed the smell of sewage in bathroom increased, the toilet was seeping sewer water at the base which seemed to not be hooked all the way down properly. Then day 3 the smell was uninhabitable, the "poop boat" came as soon as we called, the septic was full to the top- so we were given a boat full of waste! The employee that sucked the boat out was most gracious and kind doing his best in the conditions he works!!! We rented a boat 5 years ago and had the most wonderful experience. This experience has convinced us to never do a houseboat again from State Dock. We had 14 family members together that haven't been together in over a year and this is what he had to deal with, what a shame. read more

This dock is really nice and the shop on the dock is nice. We stopped here to get gas while we were out on the lake and browsed the shop while they were pumping the gas. The shop was clean and had a lot of clothes and food and supplies. The bathrooms were nice and clean. read more

This place is good if you main focus is boating and the things around the Lake Cumberland State Dock but don't stay in their hotel because they have crabby staff and the pool is filthy so are the rooms. The rooms are so poorly cleaned that you can see hairs from the people who have stayed in the past. Not only are their hairs but the floors are also filthy. I recommend wearing socks because walking on your rooms floor barefoot makes your feet completely black!!! The porch of the room is literally falling apart and is in desperate need of a pressure wash!!! The arcade is full of outdated and broken games. Overall I don't recommend this place but its an okay place with a fair price. read more

This is our second time at State Dock and they continue to serve their customers excellently. The scenery is beautiful, the waters like a bath, the peaceful time was like heaven, and the service was great. From the beginning, with the staff helping us unpack our cars and settle into the boats, to the office people providing extra bedding, and the maintenance guys giving us advice, they are all a first rate group. We had some troubles on the waters, and State Dock was very responsive and did everything they could to help us and compensate for any difficulties. They were very nice and generous. We plan to go back again, and I would recommend this company to everyone. read more

State Dock desperately needs to train some of its employees on customer service skills. I had some concerns when I read someone's post onTripAdvisor that State Dock considers you just a number, and boy, were they right! When talking with the boating staff this week, I expressed my disappointment in one of their rules/processes, and one of their reps said, "Well, it's not like we're hurting for business" - as though I didn't matter because they had other people to take my place. Go to Jamestown Marina - they have better pricing, very nice boats, and will bend over backwards to make you happy! read more

We went houseboating with 3 other families from a Monday through a Friday in August, 2011. Great trip for families, especially if your children are a little older (we had pre-teens and teens). State Dock is THE premiere houseboating rental facility on beautiful Lake Cumberland. Customer service (and answering our many questions) before our trip were great. The boat itself (Cat Daddy 900) was beautiful and exceeded our expectations in size and quality. During the trip, we had an issue with our sewage holding tank. We were told that it would hold for our 4-day trip. In reality, we woke up in the middle of the evening (after 1.5 days) to a stench. We investigated and called at 1:30am, and they sent someone out to us in the morning to check it out. Our tank was full and so we went to another dock to have it emptied. By the time we left after 4 days, it was starting to smell again. State Dock was very good at compensating us the $50 emptying charge (from the other dock) and also gave us $250 back for our troubles. We were pleased with how they graciously took care of us. In talking to the manager, though, he wasn't surprised that we filled up so quickly (with 15 people on our boat), but in the next breath, he told us that it should've held for 4 days, which was a little confusing. Our only wish was that we would've been "warned" that if it started smelling, etc. that we might have to make a trip back on Day 2 or so to empty at State Dock. This wouldn't have been a problem. We could've stuck closer to the marina on Day 2 and wouldn't have been so concerned at 1:30am, having to wake up and call them. I would definitely recommend taking a houseboating trip and using State Dock to anyone considering it. read more
